We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this rental that has water views from the front or back deck. The beach is right across the road and very convenient. We weren't able to enjoy the beach during this stay due to migrating birds in the area, but really enjoyed the view. The sunsets were beautiful! The sounds at night were so amazing from the insects and frogs that we took a video just to hear it again later.
The cottage had everything we needed. I slept in one of the twin beds and it was so comfortable and kept me away from my husband snoring. I slept 9-10 hours a night, so that is saying something about comfort. My husband enjoyed the king bed to himself. There were plenty of pillows to find one that worked well for us individually.
My husband probably would have preferred a bigger television, but he knew the size in advance and he was able to adjust his expectations. The wifi worked well and I was able to log into work to complete payroll without difficulty.
This rental is perfect for someone looking for a quiet, peaceful and cozy place that is away from the commercialized areas. Everything you would need was a short drive. We enjoyed exploring the area and had a wonderful time. We would definitely recommend this rental!
Cape May area
A truly lovely place. Steps (couple dozen) to the beach. Secluded to the point that we thought the beach was ours alone -- except for the migrating birds, horseshoe crabs, oyster farmers working their sea fields at low tide, and, on one afternoon, an errant seal. The cottage is comfortable and well-equipped, sunsets are awesome, night views are enchanting and each day presented a unique view -- from calm to stormy -- to encounter. As a down-the-beach neighbor said: "Don't tell anyone about our secret place here.'' [Sorry, neighbor.]
A great two weeks
We loved the house and the landscape so much that we barely left the property the whole two weeks we were there. The house is well equipped, clean, comfortable, and the perfect size for the two of us. The view of the bay is endlessly fascinating---better than watching a movie. Many, many thanks, Steve and Lila, for sharing your hideaway with us. We'll see you again.
We loved everything about this the house, the location, and especially the home owners
There's nothing else to add. Its everything and more . We hope to come back.
Peaceful and Secluded
The cabin was warm and cozy tucked right in the middle of a wildlife sanctuary. We stayed in January so not the best time of year weather wise but the views and scenery were bar none and I imagine would be spectacular in spring and fall during bird migrations. I found it very relaxing to watch the tides come and go from inside.
Aside from natural beauty of the surroundings, the kitchen was very well equipped. The pots and pans were high quality which was very good for us as there are not many restaurants open nearby this time of year. There was also a French press and kettle! There is also a really nice china cabinet stocked with a decent supply of mugs, glassware and dishes which was another bonus. I must say this was really nice as I usually find cooking to be challenging in vacation spots due to not have good supplies to prepare or serve properly. Not an issue here at all which helped contribute to relaxing environment.
All in all, I would highly recommend for scenic beauty and relaxing environment. I would love to return some day.
Thank you for your nice review! It was a pleasure to have you at the cottage!
We will stay here again! The two of us and our dogs loved it.
My wife and I rented this property from just after Christmas 2018. We wanted to get out of our mountain home in Maine for time away from work and a respite after the busy Christmas holiday (my wife, Leslie, is a minister). We looked and looked for weeks online for an east-coast beach-front property. This cottage seemed ideal on the website. It was!
We were concerned the weather would be too cold, but coming from Maine, we found it great for walks on the beach each day with our dogs. At high tide, a beach walk is not possible without wellies, but the time slot from an hour after high tide to an hour before high tide worked every day. We love birds and were most impressed by the pair of bald eagles we saw every day on sandbars or in trees just off the beach. We also enjoyed the songs of cardinals, saw many robins, and a pair of mallard ducts spent each day in the pond just below the back porch of the cottage. On most of our walks on the beach (we think the walking limits are around two miles from one impassable stream on the north to another to the south), we encountered no other walkers! By the way, it is a great place to look for shells!
Aside from a car passing between the cottage and the beach to a house beyond, there was no noise but the ocean waves and the birds (well, there was the local fire siren at noon each day, also). Quiet and peaceful both day and night.
The cottage is about 10 miles north of Cape May and 10 miles west of Wildwood. We visited both places for evening dinners and site seeing.
The owners are close by and made it clear they were there if we needed them. We were fortunate to spend a few hours with Lila and Steve the night before we had to return to Maine.
Here is a list of other characteristics of this property we appreciated:
* Vented gas stove in the living room
* Fully-equipped kitchen, both appliances and dishes
* Front and back decks where we could sit on warmer days and where our dogs could hang out. The front deck has a closable gate, so it is very safe for dogs
* The lights were left on for our late arrival on check-in day
* Proximity to the beach
* Clean bedding, towels, paper towels, toilet paper, washer and dryer with detergent
We are expecting to return to this treasure. Please don't tell anyone about it!
Well, it was very nice to meet you both, and you are welcome to come back any time! Thank you for this lovely review!!! Happy New Year!
