The Hawks Haven, a chalet that sleeps up to 16 comfortably, sits atop Little Granite Mountain awaiting you to come and enjoy the sweeping scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our beautifully appointed, spacious retreat with soaring ceilings and hard wood floors, is suitable for friends or family reunions and business seminars.
Three bedrooms sleep two with their own bath, two bedrooms each sleep two and share a bath. Our dorm, which can sleep up to six, is great for women or men’s groups, perfect for children. This arrangement makes Hawks Haven suitable for multiple family use. Our two wrap-around decks afford plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the spectacular view. The two huge Great Rooms provide ample space for multiple concurrent activities. End your day, soaking in the hot tub or watching the fireflies.
Our family of 15 had plenty of room to spread out, and the children loved the lower level with games and bunk beds. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked, which was good since the closest grocery store is a 20 minute drive. We loved the remoteness yet proximity to fun things to do for all ages.
I have traveled the world. And have spent time in many incredible places on this planet. And THIS place is my very favorite.
I LOVE to cook. And this kitchen is equipped. Open and comfortable to be in and I sure felt connected to friends and family while preparing meals. The house was immaculate. Beds were dreamy. The caretaker was available when needed. She is a super nice and accommodating person.
The views are beyond spectacular. Even when the clouds roll in? The lovely little church down the mountain has a light in the churchyard. And that light shines through the dense clouds. And creates a HALO of sorts. MAGICAL.
In the early morning we saw two deer in the yard. And chipmunks at the base of the house. And bittersweet growing that added to the total FALL experience.
This was our third trip here.
Instructional manuals are available. For internet, fireplace and TV etc. Completely explanatory.
Never a problem from these lucky travelers. My only regret? Is that my suitcase had to be packed and I had to come home.
One night we had guests for dinner. We are involved in the music industry and had folks in from Nashville and other points. They LOVED their entire experience.
I give Hawk Haven?
My musician partner and I stay in the MUSIC room. Inspirational to say the least.
We got there and we had to deal with the maintenance crew to fix the gas fire place !! They could not do it so no fire place in the mountain !!
Pretty inconvenient when the house does not have outdoor fire place either.
no Wifi so you pay for your Data usage which is ok but not compare to rate to other properties !
One of the bathtub was clogged made it 4.5 baths !!
House was full of lady bugs and Crickets which can be understandable since it can be out of control (Nature) but could have been better since you pay for the cleaning !!!
Before departure , maintenance crew came to replace/fix the generator !! I wanted to make sure that the house is secure and make phone calls to double check the situation ….OK to me until I was charged since we left 15 minutes after the designated time.
I was charged since a cup was left on the coach and not all the beds were stripped ( It says on the check list : just strip the beds that have been used !! and if I had to make the house 100% clean why I paid cleaning fee .. isn’t it the purpose ? )
TV had no sound , had to fix that and redo the cables and we hooked an Apple TV .. one or two cables were not connected back ,, we got charge for that one as well .
Beautiful scene and the best neighbors !!
We have been using Homeaway for the last 10 years and never had to deal with this kind of hassle and disappointment. I m filling complaints to HOMEAWAY as well.
Be careful to what you pay ….
Date of arrival
We had a party of 12 and had a really great time during our stay. Like everyone else says, the views are amazing. It really doesn't get much better. But even the house was pretty spectacular as well. Everything was clean, everything worked, it was well equipped with everything you would need for an extended stay. It's very close to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Even Asheville is an easy 30 minute ride. Working out all the details such as arranging payment, getting the keys, etc. was a piece of cake. The owners are very professional and easy to work with. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a great mountain vacation.
Our family of 11 (which was nearly 13) had plenty of rooms to enjoy and we acclimated quickly and found the home spacious, yet cozy and comfortable. This amazing house is secluded with relatively easy access (there's only one road up and down thank GOD , cause all the road start looking the same for the outsiders) What an amazing experience in the Smokey/Blue Ridge Mountains with a quaint and historic town , Chimney Rock Park Village and Lake Lure ( only a few of us actually went ALL THE WAY to the top) We worried there wasn't enough to do in the hills of North Carolina and now we have to go back just finish our first list of things to see/do!
Just go and be totally blown away by this incredible home and the surrounding area in the civilized wilderness of the eastern Continental Divide. Now we know why everyone loves the Mountains of North Carolina. Asheville , about 30 minutes away is a dynamic and eclectic fun filled town with lots of energy, restaurants and unique one of a kind shops. Go and explore or stay home with a fire and good book, this home has everything!
The home is beautiful and furnished very nice with current furniture. Well done and everything is taken care of. The views are great from the large desks. No hassles. All good. Highly recommend the home.
