Barnstead House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5)

Trusted Rental on HomeAway for 10+ years

Enjoy two acres of privacy with:

Screened porch, Swim area on property with 40' dock and swim raft,

Two kayaks and rowboat

BBQ and Hottub, Wireless Internet and Cable,

Large firepit surrounded by adirondack chairs

Keurig coffee maker (in addition to drip), iphone compatible docking station, flat screen TV for master bedroom,

10' picnic table, hammock and basketball court

Cape on the Lake sits on beautiful upper Suncook lake with breathtaking view of the lake and forest preserve (The entire western side of Suncook lake is forest preserve). Cape on the Lake offers TWO ACRES of privacy. We are far removed from the crowds, traffic and McMansions on Lake Winnipesaukee.

During the day enjoy Cape on the Lake's private beach area with over 250 feet of waterfront, . Dock and raft are placed in lake by June 1st and removed October 1st.

In the evenings, enjoy the crystal clear skies by the large firepit (permits included along with plenty of seasoned wood).

Watch loons, boats from multiple adirondack chairs overlooking the lake. Fish from the private dock, swim, bring a boat, a jet ski, enjoy the property's kayak, basically anything you would ever want to do on a lake, you can do at Cape On The Lake. Public beach is a short 15 minute walk away through the Suncook Lake forest preserve.

The property is over 2 private acres and if you have children, they will love the freedom to roam and explore. You will love the perennials and natural New Hampshire flora. Deer can be seen on the property in the early morning along with other wildlife. This is 100% grade A New Hampshire.

The house has been completely renovated since it was purchased five years ago. It has 2 bedrooms, renovated kitchen, renovated bath, living room and separate dining area. Kitchen and dining areas have new wide pine floors.

An oversized, screened-in porch, which will accommodate several people for dining. And after that long day of swimming and your big long dinner, jump right into your private hot tub.

100% satisfaction.

Cabin is professionally cleaned after each rental. Trash service provided weekly in addition to week landscaping. The property will be looking its best and always clean.

Manager lives across the street so all problems/questions are addressed immediately.

About Mike Kirk

Family of 3 including 10 year old who loves to swim, fish, hike, boat and sit in the hot tub (and now water ski)

Mike Kirk purchased this house in 2005

Why Mike Kirk chose Lakes Region

We love the lake in New Hampshire. Great weather, warm weather and lots of outdoor activities. We wanted our son to experience the outdoors. Suncook Lake is much quieter than Lake Winnipesaukee but has all the benefits without the crowds.

What makes this house unique

The lake! Swimming, watersking, kayaking, fishing and playing on the beach. The property also has acres of grass for soccer, baseball etc...

The size of the property ensures privacy for guests.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Beautiful! As advertised. Private, lots of space to run our dogs and for the kids to play.

Excellent weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place to visit. Everything that the pictures and description said it would be. Early November trip, weather was stellar. Saturday hit 64 degrees, just the right temperature for a fire in the pit. My wife relaxed by the fire pit as I stacked a new load of wood for the owner while playing fetch with the pup. Hot tub was awesome as were the views. Met the owner briefly and his father in law, both great people. Go visit! Hike and tub and swim! Highly recommended for a relaxing time. Star gazing from the hot tub is great. Can't wait to go back and try the fishing.

I loved everything about this place!

  • 5 of 5

What a find! Sitting directly on a lovely lake, this house boasts a deep hot tub (kept at an ideal 102 degree temp), kayaks and a rowboat, a fire pit, a large screened porch, and a hammock hung between two trees. Plus, it's dog-friendly! We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. Didn't want to leave. Thank you!

A Welcoming Retreat

  • 5 of 5

A glorious late September weekend here! Ideally situated - picture perfect views of the lake, loon serenades by morning and evening, owls, bald eagles, star-gazing from the dock, and everything we needed at this lovely cottage. It's welcoming, well-appointed, and made for relaxation and simplicity. The owners are local and very helpful.

Secluded, cozy cabin on a beautiful lake

  • 4 of 5

We spent four nights at at this charming cabin. The location is perfect, right at the lakefront. All the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The king bed in the master bedroom was truly amazing! A couple of regrets: we did not have the use of the promised wood stove, and the hot tub was unusable because of a wasp nest which was not sprayed until the day we left. All in all, we recommend this house for people who want a peaceful getaway. Thanks, Kathy, for your help.

Owner's Response: Hi, Thank you for your review. We've updated the listing to reflect that lack of wood stove. It had to be removed mid-season due to insurance policy. We apologize for inconvenience. We'll also now have bee spray stocked! Thanks again, We hope you'll return.

perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

Secluded, well kept property with plenty of space. Wife and I and our 2 dogs had a most relaxing long weekend here. Brought my own little fishing boat. Docks are sturdy and well placed. House has all the amenities-(felt like home having a Keureg)-gas grill, big screen HD tv, pre-cut and seasoned wood onsite for fires. Caretaker across street couldn't have been nicer-did not need them-but was comforting knowing they would be available and approachable if we did. Smooth transactions with owner, good communication. Will return if we can get away again. Dogs loved it!!, lots of room to run!
