North Carolina Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths Sleeps 6, (up to 8, Fees apply)

Whether you are looking for romance, rest, or sheer retreat, our cabin on Line Runner Lake is for you. The lake cabin boasts a serene and inviting destination and experience for families, couples, and groups of any kind. Nestled in the mountains of Rosman, NC, wake up each morning to pristine mountain views and the ever-changing interplay of sunlight and clouds parading across the lake's surface.

Those staying in the Master Bedroom can enjoy this picturesque view through a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows. These views are available as well in the living room and kitchen. No matter which bedroom you sleep in (or if you're in the loft), grab your coffee or hot tea in the morning and head out to the deck. Enjoy the sights and sounds of mountain living with no agenda but to relax.

If you prefer to keep the relaxation indoors, grab a book, grab a drink, and take a relaxing bath in the claw foot tub.

Or if you prefer, pop some popcorn and watch a movie on the cabin's living room flat screen. When you're ready for a little more activity, head down to the lakeside and shove off in the canoe for a nice paddle around the lake. You might even prefer to grab a chair and sit lakeside while casting a line and fishing the fully stocked waters.

If you start getting antsy around the cabin, no worries! We are located just 20 to 30 minutes from Brevard, Lake Toxaway, Pisgah Forest and The Blue Ridge Parkway. In an hour or less you can be in Hendersonville, Cashiers, Highlands, Waynesville and even downtown Asheville, NC, one of the most eclectic and quaint cities in the Southeast. If traveling by air, the Asheville airport is approx. 40 minutes away and Brevard's airport is even closer. Great restaurants, antiques, and shopping are 20 min away.

If you have an itch for the arts, Brevard Music Center and Flatrock Theatre are great places to visit and performance schedules can be found on their websites. Ladies, head to one of several spas in the area for an afternoon escape. You are never far away from great hiking, fishing, rafting, tubing, climbing, horseback riding, golf, tennis, and more!

We bought and renovated this cabin to have a home away from home. And we are sure that if you stay here, you too will want to come back as much as we do.

From first glance to final goodbye you will find what you’re looking for at and around our humble abode on Line Runner Lake. Spend the afternoon fishing the fully stocked lake right off the deck or get a closer look as you take the canoe out for a serene stroll.* Enjoy breathtaking views as the sun rises over the mountain and dances on the lake. If a relaxing afternoon by the water isn’t your style, you will be happy to know that you are within 30 minutes of Brevard and Pisgah National Forest, where you will find great food, shopping, tubing, rafting, fly-fishing, kayaking, hiking, biking, golf, tennis, horseback riding, and skiing. The ever-charming and awe-inspiring Biltmore Estate and the historic Grove Park Inn are only 1 hour away in the city of Asheville. Also within an hour’s drive are Hendersonville, Lake Toxaway, Cashiers, Sapphire, Highlands, Waynesville and the Blue Ridge Parkway!

About Paul Kennedy

We are Dana and Paul Kennedy.

We have four kids and 4 Grands as well. We own Paul Kennedy Catering in Savannah Georgia, recently voted best hospitality small business in Savannah. The cabin is our home away from home. After visiting the lake Since 2003, we jumped at the chance to buy and renovate this cabin.

Paul Kennedy purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Paul Kennedy chose North Carolina

This area has everything you can think of, from relaxing to shopping to outdoor activities galore. The location is perfect for us. When seclusion is what we want, it's here. When it's small town living, it's here. When it's bigger city entertainment, it's here. After 7 years it felt more like the location chose us. It was everything, and still is everything, we could want.

Relaxing mountain retreat

  • 5 of 5

Great house, great weather, great fishing - a wonderful week. Our host was so helpful to equip the house with everything we needed and even came over on the 4th of July to replace a stuck door knob! Our grandson caught many fish off the dock and loved swimming in the lake. We all had a very relaxing week in the cool mountain air.

Closet place to heaven we've ever been! It brought out the kid in all of us!

  • 5 of 5

This is the most beautiful and peaceful place we've ever vacationed. The Cabin is secluded with a beautiful lake out front. No need to be a tourist when you are there, you actually get to be a family. We all fished, swam, and paddled across the lake each afternoon together. Plentiful with fish: carps, koi, brim, catfish and even bass! The sunsets were amazing. The cabin had everything we needed, from dishes to spices and toiletries. The two beds upstairs provided my daughter with her own little area. Let's not leave out the fact they were all comfy beds. Not to mention the entire Cabin was very spacey and beautifully decorated. All my favorite devotionals were scattered throughout the house. There was even a game room that was equally fun packed with games. The owner is one of the nicest ppl I've ever met. He was helpful, informative, friendly and easily accessible. Let's just say we loved it so much we had a hard time leaving!!!! I highly recommend this cabin, it's well worth it and the memories made there were priceless!!!!!

Lovely house - so relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kennedy House. The layout was awesome for everyone to find their own space, but be within hearing distance of each other. Beautiful laid back decor made it feel homey. The upstairs porch is so pretty - I just wish it had been a little warmer and not so windy while we were there, so we could have used it more. Still, we all got some time in the hammock to relax and I loved that I could see the kids in the kayaks anywhere on the lake from the porch or yard. My 11-year-old son loved fishing in the lake from the dock or in the little cove at the corner of the yard. He caught 9 fish and one was over a foot long. He had de-barbed his hook, so it was easy to throw them back in. We looked for a bait shop nearby, but he ended up using bread for bait and that worked just fine. Having the kayaks to use was awesome - something we could all do that we can't do at home. The town of Brevard was sweet - several good restaurants and a main street you can walk around and browse in the shops. We also drove to Asheville and Greenville each for an afternoon, and we hiked in Dupont Forest. The Triple Falls hike was highly rewarding for not too much work (there are about 80+ stairs, though, just FYI). All in all, a lovely stay. Just what we were looking for! Oh...note that there is no AT&T coverage in the area until you get to Brevard, but there is wi-fi. That was actually a plus for us - everyone enjoyed being a little disconnected for the week (especially my husband who didn't have to field any work calls).

spring break trip

  • 5 of 5

Our trip was excellent. The house was very nice and clean; it was hard to believe that the cabin is a dog-friendly cabin. Bedding was crisp, all appliances were in working order, and the kitchen was well-stacked with everything and anything you might need. Outdoor space was great and Lola enjoyed fenced backyard. The best part was that we seemed to be the only people on the lake and had the place to ourselves. We took canoes out everyday. Thanks Paul for leaving them out for us!

We used the fire pit to roast marshmallows and hot dogs; easy to set up and firewood was there too. Thanks Paul!

We hope to come back in the fall too.

Amazing vacation for our family!

  • 5 of 5

We visited the Kennedy cabin for New Years and had an amazing time. It took about a day to adjust to our new surroundings (mostly my wife, the city slicker!). But by the end of it, nobody wanted to leave. We had our 3 young children with us (7 and 5 year old girls, and 2 year old son). Everyone loved the trip. Each of the girls caught their first fish off of the dock on the property, and this was our first time ever fishing together. The girls loved being outdoors and exploring nature. The nearby waterfall was amazing, and I would definitely recommend going to it. There is a nice fire pit at the cabin with wood supplied by the owner. The cabin was absolutely beautiful, cozy, and clean! There are other cabins around the lake, but we saw other people very rarely at only 2 of the other cabins. Paul was easy to work with and very accommodating to help make our trip a reality. If you are thinking about booking this place, and it is available, Do Not Hesitate!!

Tips for future guests:

-If driving in from the South (Atlanta area), the nearest grocery store is over an hour away from the cabin. There is a grocery store about 25 minutes North of the cabin. But if coming from the South, definitely stop before you get too close!

-The Grill uses charcoal (bring some)

-Favorite Restaurant: Cedar Mountain Cafe for breakfast (although it is about a 40 minute drive through beautiful country). Alot of the good local places that had great reviews were closed while we were there because of new years/ new years eve.

-AT&T cell phones do not work at the cabin or until you get to Brevard. This was a bonus for us! We could still get imessages and email through the wifi at the cabin if needed. But it was nice to get away from the phones/tablets, etc...

-The cabin has 2 floor fans that we found that were very useful if you are like us, and need them to sleep.

Our Christmas at The Kennedy Cabin - December 2015

  • 5 of 5

Our first thoughts were OMG...this is so very nice! The Kennedy Cabin was everything we expected and more. We loved the layout of the cabin; it's well maintained and clean. The loft is perfect and ideal for accommodating two individuals. Every room has a nice personal touch; the cabin is cozy, the furniture very comfortable and the view is awesome. The game room was the center of attraction for my husband and children. We had a fun time canoeing...it was a first for me, scary but once I got the hang of it, loved it and had fun! Planned on making s'mores by the fire pit but because of the rain we made them inside using the microwave...still tasted good. Absolutely enjoyed relaxing in the hammock and the lake view.

We will definitely recommend The Kennedy Cabin to everyone interested in a mountain/lake view vacation or get-away.

It was great meeting Mr. & Mrs Kennedy; very nice, accommodating and provided excellent customer service from start to checkout.

We also enjoyed a full day at The Biltmore Estate in Asheville...a must do if you visit.

Thanks again Mr. & Mrs. Kennedy for sharing your second home...we definitely would love to visit again!

Map

If you enjoy Waterfalls, Transylvania Co. is known as the 'Land of Waterfalls'. About 2.5 miles from the cabin is a private waterfall that is a must see. The owners of the property are gracious hosts and we respect their privacy and generosity. Ask about this unique opportunity when you get in. The city of Rosman hosts rafting in the summer months, just a few miles from the cabin on the French Broad River.
