Central Eleuthera House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5)

Ocean Palm, aptly named, is a spacious home on the ocean side of the Banks Road in North Palmetto Point, Central Eleuthera. It is the ONLY house on a long stretch of Pink Sand Beach. Your closest neighbor is about 300 feet away. The turquoise sea is your backyard. Enjoy soothing and sometimes exhilarating sea-views from every room of this comfortable, well appointed Oceanfront home. From the patio, situated on a gentle rise, a short stroll brings you to your dune top overlook, then down 14 steps to your fine pink sand beach. The absence of silica, in the Bahamian sand, makes it cool underfoot. Find shells and collectible sea glass treasures. The myriad of live reefs just a few flipper beats from shore beckon you to experience the magical undersea life. Snorkeling is very popular here.

Ocean Palm: Relax in the comfortable living room/entertainment center, complete with our collection of DVDs, vintage tapes, books, games and a 42 inch TV with satellite receiver. A huge picture window provides an ever-changing view of Atlantic and the southeastern sky. Spy the occasional behemoth cruise ship sailing by and count your lucky stars.

The cook is part of the party in the open plan kitchen and dining room. If you like to cook, you’ll find this kitchen a delight and if you don’t, there are always the microwave and menus.

After a full day, three attractive bedrooms welcome you for a peaceful nights sleep, often soothed by the sound of the sea.

About Aileen Mullin

In 2004, after some twenty years at The Cove Eleuthera, we sold it and retired to Palmetto point with dreams of a quiet retirement on beautiful Eleuthera. Within a few years, events had us traveling to the US more and more frequently. Care-giving for elderly and infirm relatives and our increasing need for specialist care shortened the time we had available to enjoy Ocean Palm. We set up a second home in Clearwater FL and now divide our time between the two places.

A Month at Ocean Palm

  • 4 of 5

We first came to Eleuthera in the mid eighties and stayed at the Cigatoo Inn. We came back again in the late eighties and stayed at Wykee Estates opposite Hut Point. A few years went by where we explored the other out islands as well as much of the Caribbean islands from the BVI's to Barbados and while we had some amazing experiences, we never forgot our time on Eleuthera. So for the past four years we have made annual trips back to this wonderful island.

We have stayed at a different house each year to experience the island from various locals. This year from mid February to mid March we rented Ocean Palm in North Palmetto Point on the Banks Road and had a wonderful time.

The house was spacious and clean and situated on an extensive property that offered lots of privacy. With a short walk down to the beach it was perfect. It is ideally situated close to Governors Harbour for shopping, liquor stores and restaurants, as well as the Farm for local grown produce.

The kitchen in the house is excellent and open to the dinning room so perfect for cooking while enjoying conversations with friends and family. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds big and very comfortable. The patio is large and great for sunbathing, BBQ cooking and watching the cruise ships sail by.

We had a great time at Ocean Palm and if available next year will be back.

Most Private Place Ever Stayed At

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Ocean Palm for 11 nights. During our stay, we only saw two people on our stretch of the beach. We only saw them for about two minutes on only one morning. The house was spacious and clean, with a lot of natural light filtering in. The back terrace was very large, with an incredible view of the ocean. The balcony off of the upstairs master bedroom also provided a fantastic view. The yard was green and lush with all types of tropical foliage and colorful flowers. The stretch of beach adjacent to Ocean Palm was very scenic, with both sandy and rocky areas. We were able to get great pictures. When snorkeling, the coral was beautiful. Our only negative concerned the unreliability of the public utilities on the island (phone, electric, internet and water).

We were able to explore the whole island, and really enjoyed Lighthouse Beach and the Leon Levy Nature Preserve. Other places we explored were Preacher's Cave, Spider Cave, Queen's Bath, Cow & Bull, Glass Window Bridge, Pineapple Cays (kayaking), and various beaches. Lighthouse Beach was the most beautiful beach we had ever been to. Most of these attractions were very private, and we rarely saw anyone else there.

The island lacked signage directing you to the various attractions. Some of the better restaurants on the island are good, but they often close during posted hours, and you have to find somewhere else to eat.

In conclusion, I would strongly recommend staying at Ocean Palm on Eleuthera. The privacy and views cannot be beat.

Terrific Island Destination

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four was extremely comfortable at the Ocean Palm. We loved the kitchen -- fully stocked. We loved the porch -- well furnished. We loved the beach -- so private. Easy to walk for miles on the beach in both directions. House is on a quiet, private street, but still close to town and near to the wonderful Island Farm & Bakery. The owners offered many suggestions of places to go, things to do and where to eat. We would highly recommend Ocean Palm!

Wonderful house on great beach

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Ocean Palms for two weeks and had a wonderful time. We've stayed on Eleuthera many times, this is one of the few houses where everything worked as advertised. George and Ann were kind enough to supply us with cell phone for local calls as well as a house phone for local calls. The house has a great location, close to Gov. Harbour, and the best restaurants, plus it's right on the beautiful beach where you can walk for a mile. If you're looking for a great house, on a great beach, on a great island, look no further.

Eleuthera Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful quiet home atop a great stretch of beach. We greatly appreciated the welcome food items and rum, and appreciated Pauline's assistance throughout the week. The master bedroom was wonderful especially waking up to the spectacular bright blue sea. The mobile phone provided was a good lifeline in case we got into any difficulties on our trips. The Levy Nature Preserve was interesting and nearby. Favorite restaurant was Tippy's - live music every night. For Groceries, Lakia's in Palmetto point was good and milk was $2 cheaper than in Governor's Harbor. Whilst there are some rocks at the beach in front of the house (a hazard when the sea is rough), we could walk a short distance to find sandy routes into the sea for snorkeling or around the point to the north to find a full sandy beach. Overall, we couldn't have asked for more and thank you to George and Anne for all of your help prior to our stay.

Our Own Beach Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

“Ocean Palm” was a very beautiful, spacious, and peaceful house with all the amenities we needed for our 4 week stay. Even though there are some great restaurants near by, like Tippy’s and The Beach House, we didn’t want to eat out all the time, and the kitchen had everything you could imagine to make some great meals, while looking out at the stunning views. Island farms was close by where we could get fresh organic produce and home baked breads on Tuesdays and Fridays. Every room in the house has amazing views, but the suite upstairs with the huge sliding glass door to our own private balcony was incredible! Even from the kingsize bed you could see the stars, watch the cruise ships go by and watch the moonrise. We enjoyed long walks on the beach, which we seemed to have all to ourselves, and we could snorkel right there on the many reefs. We can’t say enough…it was our own beach paradise for one month and we didn’t want to leave. Thank you George and Ann for a wonderful stay we won’t forget.
