Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)

There is nothing better than being in the middle of Paris, where everything Parisian is within your easy reach. Your lovely apartment is situated on the Left Bank, just opposite Notre Dame Cathedral. This 17th century building is located in the oldest section of Paris, full of history at every turn.

Your apartment is conveniently located just steps away from Station St. Michel, which serves the Metro line 4 as well as the larger RER lines B and C.

Just imagine coming back to your quiet hideaway after a long day of sightseeing; and having time to put your feet up. After a bit of relaxation and a couple of glasses of French Wine, it is just an easy stroll to dinner. Your centrally located home-away-from-home makes this all possible.

At your Paris apartment, you are within walking distance of Notre Dame Cathedral, Hotel de Ville, Le Marais, Place de Vosges, Pompidou Center, Ile St. Louis, St. Michel, Jardin de Plants, Le Sorbonne, St. Germain, Sainte Chapelle, Latin Quarter, etc.

Your 1st floor apartment (2nd floor, by American system) with large windows was historically considered as the ''noble'' floor. When you open your front door, the entry hallway invites you to the living/dining room. The apartment's high ceilings still contain the original wooden beams, which is part of the charm/history of the building and the area. It also provides the perfect setting for the large woven tapestry on the wall behind the sofa. The convertible sofa was especially selected for the excellent firm mattress providing a comfortable sleep.

The dining area is composed of table that will seat 6 comfortably. The large built in bookshelves hold a good selection of reading material, including maps and tourist information.

The apartment has two large windows that open to enjoy the pedestrian only street below (rue de la Huchette) that is filled with interesting shops, boutiques, and restaurants.

Your kitchen is equipped with everything necessary for a simple breakfast, afternoon tea, cocktails & hors d'oeuvres (or amuse-bouche), or something more substantial. This includes refrigerator, cook top, microwave, toaster oven, electric coffee maker, dishwasher, and a German combination washer/dryer.

The bedroom has a double bed and plenty of storage. There is also a small folded IKEA cot that is ideal for a small child. The bathroom has a bathtub/shower, hair dryer, etc. All bed and bath linens are included.

Paris usually has fairly mild weather but just in case of a summer heat wave there is an air conditioner for the bedroom and also a portable fan in the living room, all for your comfort.

What you will get from us: We will work with you to provide answers to all your questions before you leave home, and will provide detailed instructions for getting to the apartment, regardless of your mode of transportation. We will offer to book a car service for you, which will streamline the arrival/departure process. We will be there to greet you, help with your luggage, and provide an informative tour of the apartment, explaining how everything works. We will give you a brief introduction to your new neighborhood so you can find all the important things, and can also give recommendations for our favorite bistros, brasseries, cafes, and restaurants, and help make reservations as appropriate. We are only a telephone call away, should you need help, while in our care.

Our mission is to give you the best experience possible, which will make your dream trip even more memorable.

Great time

The host was wonderful. The apartment works for a family of 3 or less. The area is perfect and lively. The street sean stays active until late in the morning.

We left our hearts in this Paris apartment

  • 5 of 5

We miss our time at this apartment because it gave us a new entry into Paris, and because what we really miss is Paris. The apartment’s location — on the Seine, Left Bank, edge of the Latin Quarter, a block or two from Notre Dame, walking distance to a million different Paris sights — is as central to the city as you’re likely to get. True, it’s pricey (more than we should have spent), but the benefits are worth it. The apartment is in an old building, and it’s small, but it’s elegant and comfortable. The bed is firm, the water pressure strong, the kitchen facilities ample so that you can dine in on a few nights and save $$$. There’s a fan in the bedroom if you need it, a mass of Paris guidebooks and other volumes on the shelves, adequate wi-fi and more towels and wash cloths than you could use in a six-month stay.

Transportation is absurdly easy (a few dozen feet east of the front door there’s even an elevator down to the RER train that you’ll take to and from the airport). David was at the apartment when we arrived and — truth to speak — he carried my 50-pound luggage up the stairs to the second floor (“first floor” in European usage). Also, David was always available by email and text and gave us key advice when we needed it (like the best way to mail stuff back to the States).

Is there a catch? Well, you’re in one of the liveliest neighborhoods in the city, so you need to get used to a very busy, crowded sidewalk outside the front door, and (more importantly) to a heck of a din outside the living room windows that face Rue de la Huchette (a very old lane with its own history — check it out on Wikipedia), one story below and loaded w/cafés and the late-night crowd. This, however, did not bother us. Whether due to our exhaustion after a day of exploring the town or to the fact that the bedroom gives out on the air shaft, not the street, we never had a problem sleeping. Actually, we often rather enjoyed looking out the windows at all that humanity living it up in one of the greatest towns in the world.

Couldn't have picked a better location.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a very enjoyable time. David met us and carried our bags upstairs, thank goodness. There was an elevator for 1 person and 1 suitcase however. The apartment is located across the street from the Seine River and the big island. So, we were centrally located for the area sites and easy to walk to. Our apartment was on floor 1 which is the 2nd floor US. Two large windows of our apartment overlooked one of the many narrow walking streets behind the apartment which contained restaurants, cafes, shops, and bakeries. There had to be almost 100 places to eat in this tiny 3 block area. Just wonderful. Two of the must things to start with were our upper decker bus tour and the Seine River boat tour. It was the easiest way to get a feel of the surrounding area. The apartment was just the right size for us. Plenty of room for us and even 2 more. And David couldn't have been more helpful. I hated to contact him as much as I did, but there will always be little things to ask. He was very gracious. We would definitely stay at this apartment again. Vic & JoAnn from Illinois, USA

Charming apt in the middle of Paris

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough in praise of our stay at this lovely apartment. Our landlord greeted us when we got there from the airport and even helped with our bags. (Make sure you get an international day plan on your cellphone. You will need it.) there is wifi at the apt along with many other conveniences like a flat panel TV complete with cable, phone you can use to call back home, large, well-equipped kitchen and what I would call an American bath tub. In the bathroom, the sink is on a separate pedestal, there's plenty of room to move about and the bath tub is a complete bath tub with shower and shower curtain. If you have ever traveled to Europe before, you'll know why I marvel at the spaciousness.

There's a washer and dryer which made our clothes easier to deal with. I took home clean clothes rather than a bag full of dirty laundry. Our landlord was very helpful. I somehow managed to get the cable tv offline and the landlord picked up the phone the first time I called and walked me through fixing it. Voila!

There is a notebook written in plain English that answers many questions about the apt, the area, and many other helpful things. I cannot tell you how much the notebook helped!

Now to the good part: the apt and its location. The apartment is very spacious and is conveniently situated on the 1sr floor (2nd floor American). We felt very secure. The living room had plenty of space and was bright and airy with 2 large windows which face the street. This street is closed to all but pedestrian traffic. The bedroom had plenty of storage and was quite comfortable.

Many restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, grocery stores, bank ATMs, etc. are within walking distance. So is Notre Dame and Saint Chappell, to name only a few wonderful Parisian sites you can see from your front door.

I could go on and on, but you have to experience it yourself to believe it. I would highly recommend this apartment. We had a fabulous time.

Very disappointing!

  • 2 of 5

I've given it two stars, because of the location which is amazing. Just walk out the front door, and there's the Seine in front of you. Advertising is misleading. It said there was an elevator, apartment's on the second floor, American style, but it only takes one person, no luggage.

Also advertised is air conditioning in the bedroom. There is a contraption the likes of which I've never seen with hoses etc. and a list of instructions as to its use so as not to have it leaking and ruining the floor! Fortunately it wasn't too hot because there was no way I was going to attempt to try that, not with my luck!

First day, the double sink in the kitchen started backing up. David's response was that nobody had complained about that before! He did come by, poured boiling water down it, so it was fine till the last day when it got really bad. We didn't think there was any point telling him again. I pity the next set of renters!

It is a very dingy, badly taken care of apartment. The sheets didn't match, and they could use some new pillows. When I stripped the bed on the last day, they were all brown and sweat stained. Should have checked them out at the start! The rugs look as if they've never been cleaned, ditto the wall tapestry. One morning we woke to no water, not the owner's fault of course, but there was no advanced notification or apology. Curtains had seen better days, with several holes. Sheers looked thrown up at the last minute, and the rods were the wrong size for the window.

We did find one fan, not the two advertised, which made the living room bearable. I would not like to spend time during the hottest summer days in this apartment because the sun beats into the living room for hours on end. Shutting the curtains makes it really dark and dreary. Certainly the sun is not the owner's fault but there are better, less-dark, curtains out there,

So, it appears to me that this apartment is a cash cow for the owner. But he/she needs to invest some time and money on making it more acceptable, given the competition there is out there.

Owner's Response: We’re pleased to have had these guests stay with us. We’re always happy to help someone enjoy Paris. In older buildings in Paris where, if you’re lucky and you can afford it, you can have an elevator retrofitted into the available space, normally within the stairwell. Yes ours only takes one person with luggage at a time (because it couldn’t be any larger). This is not unusual in Paris. Many would be envious to have one, regardless of the size. For the warmer season, we provide a portable air conditioning unit for the apartment. They are very common in Paris and these days many North American’s are familiar with them as well and how to use them. An apartment in Paris with ‘central air’, is all but unheard of. They just don’t exist. The apartment has the one portable air conditioning unit as well as two fans. We’re sorry if the guests did not see them. They are there to be used. Unfortunately this was not mentioned during our visits to the apartment, as we would have been happy to have pointed them out. Yes the supposed slow sink was reported by the guest. I did comment that no one had mentioned it before and we just recently completed the remodeling of our kitchen. When I stopped by later that day, the husband pointed out and it had just slowed down a bit and they thought we should know about it. In trying to be friendly to the earth, we normally treat these things with boiling water rather than something more caustic. No one has mentioned it before or since. In recent months we’ve purchased a new Dishwasher and a combination Washer/Dryer. We have the actual manufacturer’s user manuals, in English, in the apartment guide book. The guest reported that the Dishwasher didn’t work. I reminded her to reference the manufacturer's user manual and follow the instructions closely. She still couldn’t get it to work. So I stopped by and simply turned it on. She wasn’t following the written instructions in the manufacturer’s user manual. Likewise she was unable to master the Washer/Dryer although the manufacturer’s user manual was also there. I stopped by to turn it on as well. We were as responsive as we could be during their visit. We dealt with all issues that were brought to our attention, quickly and correctly. The guests were right in that the location is about the best one can find. We're glad they enjoyed it.

Vancouver, Canada

just too noisy and dated

  • 2 of 5

Although the location is very central is was too noisy. It is above a busy street and the party goers went until 3 am. Then at 4 onwards we listened to people banging their suitcases down the stairs. In the front room it is so loud it is like you are in the bar. The bedroom is much quieter but you cannot open windows and the music beat went until 2 am. It was a poor choice for our family.
