About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

3 bedroom lake house/cottage in beautiful Grand Haven one mile south of lighthouse and Grand Haven State Park! Summer rentals Saturday- Saturday at $2450/week except for Coast Guard Week $2850. Off season weekends $600.

Private association with over 1200 feet of private association beach on Lake Michigan with tennis court and small playground area. 78 steps up from parking lot to a quiet serene hideaway with seasonal views of Lake Michigan. Short walk to beach thru association roads.

Sleeps 6 comfortably with two queen beds and two twin beds. Fully furnished with sheets and towels.

Suitable for adventure seekers, pet owners, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, or families with children who can walk stairs - unless you like carrying children.

Shore Acres Association is a group of 22 homes nestled in the sand dunes with an abundance of trees and wildlife. Together we share aprox 1200 feet of Lake Michigan beach. There are 6 cottages beach front. Our home is on top of a sand dune behind one of the lake front cottages. When the foliage is in full bloom you can still catch glimpses of the lake depending on where you are on the deck that surrounds the entire cottage.

Late fall, winter and early spring are the best times to rent if you want to see the lake. During the summer when the foliage is in full bloom it feels like you are in the middle of an ancient forest. It is quiet and peaceful and very private. Today June 18 - I met a young deer at the top of the stairs who didn't run but stood and stared at me. I think it may be the one my neighbor watched as the mother gave birth as he was walking down the road.

Bring your bathing suit, books, camera and enjoy.

Winter guests need to be aware they will need to shovel the stairs and deck if it snows during their stay - shovels are provided! While our one-lane private roads are plowed and salted - there can be times the roads can be hazardous to drive and you may have to walk in - so please come prepared with your winter gear and energy!

About Kris Riera

Same owner last 49 years, rebuilt in 1989. Yes, everything had to be carried up the 78 stairs. I also remember carrying sleeping children up those stairs after nights sitting around a bonfire at the beach. The ability to walk up stairs without assistance is suggested. Those stairs though have served as my daily workout and kept me healthy.

Kris Riera purchased this cottage in 1969

Why Kris Riera chose Grand Haven

Small and very private association of 23 property owners. Beautiful shared Lake Michigan beach.

Pets under 60 pounds allowed.

What makes this cottage unique

Private, quiet wooded getaway but close to town and shopping. Homes nestled in the sand dunes with an abundance of trees and wildlife. Enjoy quiet walks and sunsets along the shores of Lake Michigan.

Once you get to the top of the stairs, you feel like you are in a tree house. Very private and quiet with seasonal views of the lake on the deck surrounding the entire home. The beach is only a short walk down the the road once you go down the stairs. No charge for the free exercise.

Cozy cottage within walking distance of beach

  • 5 of 5

This was our 3rd time our family has stayed and we truly enjoyed our visit. The cottage has all of the conveniences of home and is a short walk to a private Lake Michigan beach. It's also a short drive to downtown Grand Haven and the State Park -- nice for our teenage boys. Overall, big thumbs up. Just a note for renters -- there are 75 steps from where you park your car up to the cottage. A good daily workout (and there is a bench 1/2 way up if you need it).

Wonderful stay in Grand Haven

  • 5 of 5

Overall, we had a great experience with our stay in Grand Haven! Kris was very responsive to any questions we had during our stay. The house was exactly as pictured, and clean. It was a quick walk to the beach which we loved. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful House With Amazing Location and Breathtaking Surroundings

  • 5 of 5

House is magnificent. Well supplied with everything what's necessary. Stairs can be challenging , however I enjoyed it and appreciated some extra workout during the stay. Beach is easily accessible and peaceful. It is a great place to stay. I strongly recommend it for everyone looking for natural gateway with close by beach and near beach town, with relaxing atmosphere
