About Dale Read

My family lives in Knoxville, TN. We love to ski and enjoy outdoor summertime activities

Dale Read purchased this townhome in 2000

Why Dale Read chose West Virginia

I first visited Snowshoe in 1996. I quickly realized this was the best place to ski in the Southeast US and decided to buy a condo. Our family enjoys Snowshoe in the winter for skiing and the summer for the cool weather and all of the great activities.

What makes this townhome unique

You will enjoy a fantastic view from master bedroom. This townhouse is nestled in the woods and very homey cabin feel to it, but is also an easy walk to the slopes and the village.

Great for family memories.

Perfect stay for Freefall Festival

  • 5 of 5

Treetop 1 was a great location for all the festivities during the Freefall Festival. Close walking distance to the Village Center through a small path behind the townhouse. It was also in close proximity to Ballhooter lift that provides access to the lake. Our 4 kids ages 5 - 12 loved it and want to make it an annual tradition.

Very nice property!

  • 5 of 5

Our August trip to Snowshoe happened because of a wedding in the family. The location of this townhouse was ideal. Although I had no idea where I was going to end up, we were a very short and convenient walk to the wedding/reception and the village. We parked the car when we got there and never had to use it again. This particular townhouse was at the end of the Treetop complex, and that made it perfect.

The house itself was very nice--well furnished and clean. It was a warm weekend, and the fans provided helped tremendously.

Though not needed, the owner left plenty of contact info in case we needed it. Our check-in/check-out instructions were thorough.

If I make it back to Snowshoe, I would very likely check to see if Treetop 1 is available!

Wonderful ski vacation spot for families

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful place for our extended family of kids/grand babies. Plenty of room and plenty of heat to stay warm. One reviewer said the fireplace was out, but we were able to get it working by lighting the pilot light. Kitchen was very well stocked with pots/pans, utensils etc for us to cook our meals. Beds were comfortable, snow room was exceptional to keep boots and ski's and get suited up for skiing. Dale, the owner, was very helpful and friendly.

We were too tired each night to get out so we never tried any of the restaurants or activities other than night skiing. The walk to catch the bus for night skiing is not super close (especially in ski boots :) ) but some of our group did it twice. Also, make sure you are at the right bus stop that goes to Silver Creek. Note to get to Snowshoe slopes......walk through the woods and the Mountain Lodge lobby rather than behind the building.....it seemed easier and was a last minute warm-up before getting back outside in the cold.

Would definitely come back to this location!!!

Great place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was clean, comfy, and close to slope but far enough away to not be bothered by snow making. Great a great time.

Great! Even though fireplace was out

  • 5 of 5

Its great for the price! We slept 7 guys in the place comfortable. I think 9 as it is listed is pushing it. Would have love the fireplace to have worked but we were happy to be in a double unit. The remodeled kitchen and mudroom were very nice. Would recommend this for anyone looking for a close walk to the slopes at a reasonable price!

Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay at this unit, and we will definitely go back! We've stayed at other places on the Snowshoe Mt before, but this unit has it all. Location is great -- close to the slopes, the little grocery store, the chapel and the village. Love the fireplace! Can't imagine staying at a place without one. It warms you right up! It has 2.5 baths -- really important for getting everyone up and ready for skiing in the morning! And it has a full kitchen with all the supplies you could possibly need. Highly recommend it!
