Aloha! We would like to welcome you to our little piece of paradise on the Big Island of Hawaii on the South Kohala/Kona Coast. A 20 minute drive north from the Kona airport, the South Kohala area is upscale and close to some of the islands most beautiful white sand beaches. Popular Hapuna Bay and Kekaha Kai State Park is only about 10 minutes by car.

Our 2 bedroom, 2 Bathroom condo has been updated with new kitchen, bathrooms, and flooring. Everything sparkles with upscale furnishings, luxurious king size bed in master, luxurious queen in second bedroom, stainless steel appliances and pull-out queen sofa bed in living room.

Vista Waikoloa is in the beachfront resort area of South Kohala. Two professional-level golf courses and interesting shops within walking distance.

About Reg and Sue

We are a family from British Columbia, Canada and have enjoyed spending vacations in Hawaii over the last few years.

We have travelled to some of the other islands in Hawaii, and found the Big Island to have the most to offer. We love the peaceful relaxing environment , and the wide range of activites and wonderful beaches.

One day we hope to spend several months of the year in Hawaii when we retire. We want to share with you, our guest, our future retirement home in beautiful Hawaii.

Why Reg and Sue chose Puako

We chose our condo in this location because of the proximity to some of the best beaches on the Big Island. We also like the upscale feel of the Waikoloa area.

Reg and the boys are avid snorkelers and we really enjoy exploring the vivid underwater life that the west coast of Big Island has to offer.

This condo is also within walking distance of the Kings & Queens shopping area, with restaurants and shops so once there, you don't really have to drive anywhere.

However, there are so many great places to see on Big Island, you will probably want to rent a car anyways. Where else can you go to see a real, live active volcano! A must see for geology buffs!

What makes this condo unique

We very carefully selected our condo after researching and visiting most of the complexes on the west coast of Big Island.

The Vista Waikoloa resort is one of the best constructed buildings with very pleasing architecture and beautiful manicured grounds. It has one of the best pools on the island (heated and salt water = no chlorine and easy on the eyes).

Our ground floor unit has a very large, peaceful lanai which is very close to the pool. You can walk from the lanai to the pool in seconds without stairs or elevators. Great for kids coming and going to the pool. The pool and hot tub area is very quiet, and at times you have these places to yourself.

One of the other reasons we selected this unit was for the expansive windows, floor to ceiling on two walls. The condo is very bright, with plenty of sunlight, but still cool to be very comfortable. Our condo is properly oriented to have the gentle breeze flow through in the afternoons and evenings.

Great location and facilities

This is our second stay so we were able to hit the ground running. We were pleased with some of the recent upgrades - air-conditioning and Netflix (thank goodness for the latter as cable content is rather sparse).

We really appreciate this type of arrangement as most of the supplies we left will benefit the next guests. We appreciated the supplies left for us too!

The grounds and pool have been well maintained, and we used the pool regularly.

Wonderful stay. Can't wait to return!

This was our first visit to the Big Island and we're so glad we chose this wonderful condo as a base to explore. Reg and Sue took care of the booking process and answered any questions we had. The condo itself is spacious, beautifully furnished and offers every amenity you could ever need. There is a large, quiet pool and the beach and numerous shops are an easy stroll through the lovely Waikoloa landscape. There is so much to do that our only regret is not staying longer! Thanks again.

Waikoloa summer vacation

This 2bedroom/ 2 bath condo is perfect for a family of four or two couples. Its in a great location very close to the pool which was never crowded and most times we were there by ourselves. The Lanai is very spacious and we enjoyed having breakfast there every morning.

The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare meals, plenty of condiments, dishes, pots and pans, coffee maker, wine glasses, etc. There are four beach chairs, several size coolers to choose from and plenty of beach towels. The air conditioning and ceiling fans worked great. The master bedroom and bath are fantastic with a huge walk-in shower.

the 2nd bathroom is much smaller but serves its purpose.

Vista Waikoloa is in a central location to see all the sights of the big island and away from the hustle and bustle of Kona. The closest beach is A-Bay which is nice but there are several more beautiful beaches within a 15 min drive north or south of Waikoloa. Probably the most popular and most crowded is Hapuna Beach and the Mauna Kea Beach. But add Kihole beach and Kua bay to the south to your list. Kihole is a black sand beach and Kua bay is a beautiful white sandy beach. Both alittle off the beaten path but must sees for sure.

One nice thing about Hawaii beaches is that most have flush toilets and fresh water showers. Note- Kihole does not only port-a-pottys.

As for groceries we stopped in Kona as they have everything- Safeway, Walmart, Costco, Etc, but you can also go to Waikoloa village about 8 miles north and shop at KTA a local grocery store or Foodland in the Mauna Lani shops or Island Gourmet Market in Waikoloa.

We enjoyed Lava Lava beach club, Canoe House and Kamuela Provision Company for beautiful sunset dinners and cocktails.

Don't miss trip to see Volcano, Swim with wild dolphins in Kona and best breakfast at the Hawaiian Style Café in Waimea. So much to do and see, one week is not enough.

Very spacious. Well equipped kitchen even down to spices. Walk to beach across st and Kings shops.

Property clean and well maintained. Large covered grilling area with dining tables. Pool just outside from the lanai with lounge chairs and even a sink to rinse off snorkels, swimsuits and sandy shoes. Property well landscaped with flowering tropical trees and fragrant flowers.

Great location.Beaches close by. Best snorkel was at Mahukona Beach Park, a local hangout just to the North. Very accessible. Tons of different tropical fish. We even saw an eel. Easy drive to Hilo to the West and 20 mins to airport and a little furthet to Kona. Rented 4x4 Jeep (recommended) to drive up Mauna Kea observatory. Fantastic view. Cold up there. Bring warm jacket. Worth the experience.

Will definitely recommend staying here.

Beautiful, relaxing condo in convenient location

We stayed for four nights in this condo and absolutely loved it. Nicely decorated with lots of personal touches that made this condo a delight to spend time in. Absolutely beautiful kitchen and ensuite bathroom, relaxing lanai and we liked the location of the condo which was walking distance to the beach and some eating options. Reg and Sue were easy to deal with and we had no issues during our stay. Highly recommend!
