Guestbook comments from the manager

5 out of 5 stars:

We are regulars to Bright and this time we chose the stay at Roses. The reviews on Stayz were good and the photos looked promising. We weren't disappointed! The property is absolutely perfect, the garden is gorgeous and flows down to the river from the house. The cottage is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable, it has a wonderful relaxing feel about it. Location to the main street is ideal with access from the river path at the bottom of the garden or a short walk from the front door. There are several holiday accommodation properties in the same location, although they looked nice they can't compare with the Roses. Perfect for couples and small families. We really hope to stay again next time we're in Bright. Thank-you so much Rod & Paula for making our stay in Bright a perfect experience.

A true Home away from Home.

  • 5 of 5

This home was immaculate and very tastefully decorated. Very well equipped with everything we could possible need(including champagne and chocolates), quality appliances and fantastic location, only a short walk into town.

Only problem was we didn't want to leave!

Thank you Paula and Rod, would definitely recommend this property

location plus

  • 5 of 5

we have been to Bright 7 times and we've stayed at 6 different properties. My husband and I both voted this the best out of all the properties we've stayed at. The cottage is in a perfect location and is very comfortable. Its the little things that make a great stay in my opinion and this includes a well equiped kitchen with lots of crockery, glasses etc not just the usual 4 cups /glasses. The pantry with condiments, coffee , tea etc was also appreciated. The other important thing for me is the lounge and both these were very comfortable. We did a cycling holiday and Roses on the River was perfect for that . We could hose the bike down and lock it in the shed as well. I am in love with Bright and we will continue to come here every year and we will definately stay at this cottage again.

Had a wonderful 4 night stay with our 8 month old bub.

The cottage location couldn't be better, and it was very comfortable with everything we needed. The hosts Rod and Paula made us feel very welcome and its obvious they go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

Had a fantastic stay at this perfectly located cottage backing onto the Ovens River. The house itself was very clean and well appointed. Kitchen has been recently updated and all appliances are new. Everything you could wish for was available and Rod called around to run through some of the appliances and TV etc to make sure we were easily able to use them. He gave us great information about Bright and its attractions, did 2 great walks as he suggested, the Canyon Walk which is at the back of the property and the more challenging Lower and Upper Eurobin Falls in Mt Buffalo National Park. We were able to walk to the town centre in 5 mins and sampled some good meals at the Brewery and Riverdeck Cafe. Our favourite coffee was a 5 minute drive away at Sixpence Coffee and also loved Blackbird Cafe. Fresh flowers, chocolate and bubbles are a welcome touch. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect place, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Perfect accommodation and perfect location. The cottage is just beautiful, very clean and comfortable. It is well equipped so we didn’t need a thing. From the back of the house, it’s a lovely short walk along the river into town. Relaxing in the gorgeous private garden with a cuppa every morning was a great way to start each day. Again, the perfect place for our family of 2 adults and 2 teens. Thanks to Rod and Paula for making us feel so welcome. We will definitely be back, only next time we hope to stay longer. Cheers.

Township of Bright

Bright is truly a town of four seasons with each providing its own unique blend of enjoyment and relaxation.

Summer:

Bright is catching a trout in the mountain streams, sitting by, rafting, floating or swimming in the clear Ovens River. Choose to sip fine wines from the Alpine Valleys, have a gourmet picnic by the shady riversides, dine on locally sourced produce at the wide range of restaurants and street side cafes or enjoy music in the park. Have coffee and cake, visit the bakeries or have fun on the river waterslide.

Take a walk on the many trails that abound in the region, including those that cross the Razorback toward the High Plains cattlemen huts. Explore on horseback or bicycle and ride the extensive and Australia’s premier rail trail.

Summer is fun for families –canoe, gold pan, paraglide, play tennis, golf, bushwalk, wander the bush and street markets or just read a book or have a relaxation massage.

Autumn:

Enjoy the sun and the colours of red, orange gold and yellow as Brights’ famous trees and avenues of oaks, liquid ambers, poplars and Japanese, maples come ablaze in color. Stroll the Canyon Walk along the scenic Ovens River, take a microlight flight or watch the hangliders soar above Mt buffalo and enjoy the valley vistas. If you have the spirit of adventure but no experience, there are guides and instructors waiting to get you going. Celebrate the Autumn Festival with farm tours, camp fire nights, Art & Craft shows, street stalls, open gardens and the Gala Day Parade. From April to May is a photographers and vistors delight amongst the falling leaves of Bright and surrounds.

Winter is a delight for the Alpine Ski or snowboard enthusiast or for those just wanting to throw a snow ball. Visit Mt. Hotham or Falls Creek or a day trip to the iconic Mt. Buffalo National Park. Buy some local produce or crafts from the monthly market or sit fireside at the many restaurants and wineries and enjoy the ambience.

With the emergence of Spring, enjoy the open gardens and flowering shrubs, bulbs and trees that abound. Bird watching can ensure views of king parrots, black cockatoos and a myriad of others.

Bring your camera to ensure all the vibrant memories of your visit to Bright and surrounds are captured.
