Why Kate chose Woodford

This is a beautiful location with something for everyone. Lots of things to do outdoors and plenty of fall and winter activities!

What makes this cabin unique

The sun rises right over Prospect Mountain which you can enjoy every morning from the deck. When the sun sets Prospect Mountain glows! The moon will rise over the mountain, which is incredible when the moon is full!

Great mountain getaway

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I and our two dogs loved our time in this cute mountain town getaway. The area is close to tons of different trail to go hiking and explore. We loved the deck overlooking the pond and spent most of our time there with the dogs. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because there wasn't a lot of seating. Other than that it was perfect and would definitely rent from The owners again

Convenient cabin

  • 2 of 5

We were in town for a wedding near Bennington and wanted a place we could visit with another couple. This cabin seemed to fit the bill, and had rave reviews on VRBO. It was perfectly located, but seems to be in a rough patch right now. The cabin, especially the downstairs, was quite musty. There were air fresheners everywhere to try to combat this; for us, this only exacerbated the issue. Otherwise, it would have been a fine place to stay for a couple of nights. Additionally, small things like the toilet paper holder being torn off the wall in the main bathroom, light bulbs missing from several fixtures and lamps and no hooks for towels in the bathroom, flies on the windowsills downstairs, just made for a slightly unappetizing stay. Which is too bad, because otherwise the cabin was situated in a great place with good access to trails to hike, close to Bennington and in a quiet and calm location, and seemed comfortable enough. I hope that this is useful information for the owner, as they are small things to be remedied.

Owner's Response: I apologize sincerely. We had been using a cleaning service, which we have since changed for a more thorough one. The basement is being sealed the second week of September and that should remedy the musty smell in the basement. We encourage potential renters to read other reviews, as this experience is not the norm.

Exactly what we needed

  • 5 of 5

Our goal was to getaway. We wanted a weekend where me and my wife (and our dog) could just be with each other and not within the hustle and bustle of City life. This cabin was perfect. In a nice secluded road, with not much going on, we were able to enjoy the beautiful scenery and winter wonderland. Our dog enjoyed exploring, sniffing and running around and we appreciated the full kitchen and cozy surroundings. Perfect for a couple or more who enjoy relaxing and getting away. We hope to be back and see it in different seasons. Charming cabin exactly what we needed.

Cozy with a beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over the Christmas holiday and it was a wonderful white Christmas, as we had hoped. The cabin is very comfortable and cozy and had all the amenities we required. The view is absolutely beautiful. Everyone we met during our stay was very friendly and welcoming. Great location!

The property was clean and the description is accurate. The owner responded immediately to all communications during the booking process and prior to the stay. I would recommend this property. We are even considering a visit during the summer. There are several ski areas close by, which also include areas for snowmobiling, snowshoeing, boarding, etc. These aren't the large mountain resorts, so they aren't overly crowded but have great terrain. We had fresh snow during our stay. Bennington has historical sites and a cute downtown that made for a good walk when cabin fever kicked in. There are also breweries and wineries in the area.

Peaceful, pleasant, clean and cozy

  • 5 of 5

Our rental was lovely, just as described. The cottage is at the end of a short cul de sac, and close to hiking trails, the lovely Woodford State Park, and downtown Bennington. The cottage was fully stocked with everything we needed - linens, towels, blankets, cups, plates, utensils, stove, refrigerator, microwave, teapot, coffee maker. It was clean and comfortable, with a beautiful deck overlooking a small lake and mountains. It was very quiet and peaceful. It was a perfect home base for our get away with our dog, who loved the deck as much as we did. We appreciated a cubboard full of brochures, maps and publications all about the area.
