Maisie's Cottage Busselton

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 6 nights

About the property

MAISIES COTTAGE is a very simple and old original workers cottage from the early 1900s. Small, cosy, clean and pet-friendly and just a short walk to the pristine beach, town centre, shops, cafe's, restaurants & Busselton Jetty.

Maisies has irregularities and will not suit guests seeking all the modern conveniences of today.

We have blended the of old traditional character of yesteryear with some modern conveniences and priced the cottage to suit the budget conscious.

Our Nightly Rate includes accommodation for 4 adults & 2 children (max 6 guests) to suit the following sleeping configuration:

BED 1 - King Bed (sleeps 2 adults)

BED 2 - Queen Bed (sleeps 2 adults)

BED 3 - Small bedroom with a set of Bunk Beds only (sleeps 2 children)

Doonahs, pillows and blankets are all provided, R/C air conditioning, gas heating, room heaters, coffee machine, toaster, kettle, flatscreen TV, refrigerator, outdoor BBQ, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron, complimentary baby hi-chair, port-a-cot and stroller, some complimentary bikes available (outlined below) and pets welcome by arrangement (conditions below).

Please Note: Maisies Cottage has a small kitchen and only a small electric cooking oven appliance (not a big stove). We also provide electric cook frypan, sandwich grill press, sandwich toaster and rice cooker and of course the outdoor BBQ.

We prefer guests bring their our own linen and towels (we do provide doonahs, doonah covers, blankets and pillows all as standard). Alternatively, if you are travelling from interstate or you would like sheets & towels provided with your booking we can provide linen complimentary but upon departure we ask that all guests wash and dry the linen they use (use the tumble dryer for fast drying) prior to vacating.

Complimentary Port-a-cot & Linen, Hi-chair & Stroller (please clean and return these items to their stored location before vacating. There are many toys, puzzles & early books and much of the furniture is child-safe with limited sharp corners. Please note we are NOT fully-fenced (front to rear) so the cottage may not suit all families).

* Plenty of books, games and toys

* Some fishing rods

* Some personal bikes (2 x adult bikes and 1 x girls bike (age 6/7) available for use at your own risk)

The garden has a pleasant outlook to relax and enjoy the morning on the front verandah, or bbq area on the back verandah.

Pets are welcome at Maisie's Cottage but must be well-behaved and are NOT allowed on any linen, lounge or on any beds. It is important to note also that we are only 3-parts fenced (the area from the front to the back of the house is un-fenced) so this may not suit some owners. If you pet is well behaved and stays by you at all times you may not have any problems, as many people bring their pets to Maisie's, but if he/she wanders off, or runs across roads etc., then Maisie's will not be suitable.

If you do decide to book and bring your pet down you will need to bring all food/water bowls, bedding, leads, toys (upon departure please vacuum floors and mats thoroughly and bury all doggy doo).

5 Min Walk – Beach & tranquil shores of Geographe Bay

10-15 Min Walk – Famous Busselton Jetty

10-15 Min Walk - restaurants, cafe's, weekend markets, and all your shopping needs Maisie's Cottage

maybe take a lazy half-hour drive to Margaret River and along the way passing wineries, restaurants and many wonders of the Southwest of WA.

Please note it is very cold in Busselton in Winter. The cottage has one reverse-cycle wall mounted air conditioning unit in the main open plan living/kitchen area and a gas fire. The two main large bedrooms each have an oil column heater in each room. There is NO bath, just a basic standard walk-in shower. As the cottage has wooden floorboards, make sure you bring warm slippers or socks for the brisk mornings. We do ask that the old traditional fireplaces and wood oven are not used as they pose a fire risk.

We named the Cottage after Maisie, the original owner who raised her 4 children here for over 50 years. It reminds us of our past and is still a work in progress for us at every opportunity.

LINEN: We prefer guests to provide their own linen, however linen can be provided complimentary conditional upon guests washing, drying, folding and returning linen to store after use.

BOND: Fully refundable bonds required for ALL bookings to ensure Maisies Cottage is left clean & respectable, similar to how it was presented at your arrival.

MAX GUESTS: Accommodation is suitable for 4 Adults plus 2 Children (maximum)

MIN STAY: 2 Nights

MINIMUM BOOKING AGE: 24 is the minimum age of guests booking

... We had a great time in Busselton at Maisie's Cottage it is in a fantastic location. The owners are brilliant to deal with no problems what so ever. Bond refunded very quickly. Everything you would need was there. Would recommend it with or without kids. Thank you

... Have stayed a Maisie's Cottage 3 times with our dog. Its great to have such a nice place to stay where you can bring your pet. Perfect for families with babies and children of all ages.

... We all enjoyed our 3 day stay at Maisie's cottage (3 adults /3 children)found the accommodation cosy and comfortable, outdoor bbq area was great and lots of room for kids to play, easy access to town and short walk to beach and in a nice area!

... A wonderful place for my daughter and I to have a 'girls weekend'. We didn’t put the TV on at all and were delighted with all the little knickknacks in the rooms. I've started recommending it to my friends in Geraldton and no doubt we'll be back.

... We loved our stay at Maisie's Cottage. It was clean, cosy and was everything we hoped for our holiday. It had everything we needed which made our holiday even more relaxing. We especially loved sitting out on the back deck in the afternoon sun! It was a perfect place for a family holiday. We will be back next year!

... "Maisie’s Cottage" - what a lucky find for us! A beautifully restored cottage with accommodation that has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Neat, clean, close to town and the beach. Great base to explore the region from. Will definitely repeat our visit here again later on.

... Thanks for a great place to stay right in the heart of everything we really enjoyed are stay here we will hopefully return 2016.

... We absolutely loved our stay at Maisie’s Cottage. The situation is excellent - a short walk to the jetty and beach. Our kids loved the range of toys and books (which were used more than the toys they brought with them) there were in the cottage. My father wished he could take the front veranda with him; he loved reading there in the morning sun (away from the grandchildren!). We will be back

... Thank you for your perfect family accommodation for our recent visit to Busselton. The amenities and atmosphere of your property were just what we were looking for, and the location to the town sites was great.

... The house was perfect for us - close to the beach & shops and had everything we needed, and very 14-month-old friendly. We were particularly impressed with the welcoming feeling we got from being able to share toys, books, bqq and other things.

Quaint Cottage

  • 4 of 5

We generally enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfortable, and the furniture good quality, but guests need to remember it is an old cottage so all mod cons are not available. In particular the cooking facilities were not as modern easy to use as expected, and the showers were as best as could be expected given the wooden floors throughout.

Owner's Response: Dear James Kyle in South Fremantle Thank you for your review and we agree with your comments. Maisies Cottage is a small old workers cottage (C1900) and doesn’t have all the modern conveniences which people may anticipate these days. We do our best to point this out on our website and the photos are pretty much as it is reflected. Despite the lack of modern conveniences we hope the cottage represents good value for money in its current form for families and holiday makers (generally $160 per night for 4 adults & 2 children) and our nightly rate offers complimentary linen for guests if required, some bikes available and also allows them to holiday with their pets which is pretty unique.

We loved our stay at Maisie's. It was close to everything and the children loved the garden room where they mostly played. Had all the comforts.

Needs a few minor upgrades

  • 3 of 5

The house would be quite adequate in most conditions, but we were there in very cold weather and the heating was not able to keep up at night. We had quite an elderly person with us who was struggling with the cold and as a result we left a day early. Also, the bed in the front room needs replacing. I did some repairs on arrival, but basically it's had its day. With a new bed, and warmer conditions, I'm sure it would be ok.

Owner's Response: Dear Neil Giblett in Perth Just a courtesy message to thank you for your comments which we greatly appreciate. We stayed there ourselves a few weeks ago and it was freezing, so we know where you were coming from. To assist with combating the cold we have placed a new gas heater at the cottage now (in addition to the R/C a/c wall mounted unit and the two column heaters). The wafer thin doonas have all been replaced with the highest warmth rating 5/5 doonas and new queen soft fleece blankets have been placed in the robes for the rooms for additional warmth for guests if required. The old bed has been replaced with a KING size bed and tempur mattress (the type NASA use) and king sheet sets are available for guests to use complimentary (as long as they are happy to wash, tumble dry and fold away prior to their departure) as we realize guests may not ordinarily have king size linen themselves. A new blind has been installed in the main bedroom, the tumble dryer has been changed over, the boards on the front verandah boards have been replaced with beautiful 6" solid boards and we have also re-stumped the west elevation to improve the floor. We're grateful for your honest feedback and hope this resolves these issues and improves the comfort level for future guests and we hope to keep improving the old cottage as time and finances permit.
