Maggie's Tree House is a contemporary light filled home with wrap around decks on the top level. The great room has high ceilings and an open plan. The large dining table seats 6 and our well stocked kitchen features a gas stove and stainless steel appliances.
The home has a large flat parking area so it is appropriate for multiple vehicles. The house is located about 1 mile from US 19/Soco Road. You cannot see the road from the house and seldom do you hear any road noise.
The five sliding glass doors and walls of windows make you feel like you are living in the tree tops. A 47 inch flat screen TV with DVD player and wireless internet provide many options for entertainment. There is a gas fireplace on this floor.
Our house is comfortable for 3 couples. Three bedrooms are downstairs. The king master suite has it's own bathroom and a TV. The second bedroom also features a king sized bed with deck access. The 3rd BR has a queen bed and deck access. Bedrooms 2 & 3 have ensuite sinks and there is a shared bathroom with shower on this level.
We have been renting this home for over 3 years and have many returning guests. The house is well stocked and comfortable. The decks allow ample space for dining outside or just enjoying cool breezes.
This home is on a 1/3 acre lot. There are houses on both sides. One is seldom occupied. The street is a dead end with 4 other houses past Maggie's Tree House. If you are looking for total seclusion this will not be the home for you. However, this is a quiet, sleepy neighborhood where we lived for multiple years with our pets.
All Season Retreat: Maggie's Tree House is the perfect spot to enjoy all the season's in Maggie Valley. The tulip poplars bloom in the spring as the forest comes alive with color and wildflowers. The mountain breezes cool you inthe summer and you are surrounded by colorful leaves in the fall. In winter we are close to skiing at the Cataloochee Ski area. Please note if you are coming to W NC in the winter you may need a 4 wheel drive to get up the mountain roads when they are covered with snow or be prepared to hike up the mountain until the roads are cleared. This house has peek a boo views of Maggie Valley and a winter view.
This is a non-smoking home with 2 king sized BR and 1 queen. There is a TV in the master suite. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a new gas grill. The home has central heat and air and a gas fireplace.
Lots to Do: We provide you with a list of activities that range from hiking, skiing, gambling, kayaking, shopping, biking, theater, scenic drives, etc. We also keep a calendar of local events and there is always something going on in Maggie Valley, Waynesville or Asheville. We are near many challenging golf courses and only 1 mile away from the Maggie Valley Country Club. You may want to try Laurel Ridge, Waynesville Country Club, Springdale or Sequouia National if you are on a golfing vacation. However, the best part of your vacation may be sitting on the deck after a day of adventures.
Pet Friendly Home: We require a non-refundable pet deposit. We ask that you crate your animals when you leave or take them with you to avoid any damage caused by separation anxiety in the unfamiliar surrounding. If you have multiple animals the non-refundable pet deposit is higher. Sorry, but we have had some bad guests in the past who have not been as respectful of the property as we expect.

About Karen or Richard Morris
My husband and I bought Maggie's Tree House to live in as a summer home so we could get away from the heat and humidity in Florida. We both grew up in the north east and had lived in FL and CA. Now we have now moved permanently to NC. We are the perfect example of 'Half Backs' who move up and down the east coast and settle in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
Why Karen or Richard Morris chose Ivy Hill
We loved the great room and tons of windows in the house. Also, being from Florida we wanted a paved access to the home, an ample parking area and to be near to golf courses and restaurants.
What makes this House unique
Since we live in the area we often go to the house between renters. This allows us to make sure everything is in good shape. Since we lived in the house, we love it and hope that everyone who visits feels comfortable and wants to return.

Hidden gem for a wonderful holiday
We had a wonderful holiday at Maggie’s Treehouse. The house, it’s location and the area are all beautiful. Our hosts were so helpful and friendly, and made us feel very welcome in their home. They don’t live onsite, but we were able to meet when Karen visited.
The house itself is probably the most suitable house we have stayed in, in terms of its size and layout for a family holiday. Lots of space, but the open-plan style upstairs meant we were all together. Large bedrooms so that we all had our own space as well. Very well equipped and comfortable - a very homely feel.
We wanted a location close to the main road into Asheville as our son needed to get to the university, but to feel ‘away from it all’. The treehouse was ideal. Although it was only 1/4 mile off the main road, and had neighbours all around, it’s setting in the trees meant you weren’t overlooked by anyone, and could hardly see the other houses when you were relaxing. The sloping of the land means you look into trees rather than onto houses or rooftops. It was great watching the many birds flitting around in the trees and feeding on the veranda. We saw so many breeds of birds I have never seen before (living in England) including a Cardinal on our first morning.
The scenery is just stunning. Breathtaking views wherever you go: beautiful rivers, streams and waterfalls: peaceful valleys. We were able to see the elk on our last day as well.
I feel sad I am unlikely to be able to visit the area and stay in Maggie’s Treehouse again, but will have long-lasting fantastic memories of the holiday. It was a perfect venue for staying with our son who came across from Canada, and the other who is in his year at Asheville University.
Thank you so much for the lovely review of the home and the area. We are so glad that it was just the right fit for you and your family. The mountains in WNC are so lovely and the wildflowers are fabulous this time of year. If you ever make it back to the US we'd love to host another visit.
All the best,
Dick and Karen
Wonderful four season vacation home
We spent the week before Christmas at Karen's lovely, airy, comfortable vacation home. While the temperatures were freezing, the atmosphere inside was warm & cozy! We were greeted by a spotlessly clean and tidy house and a welcome of cookies and a basket of Keurig capsules (there's also a regular coffee maker.) Detailed instructions were provided for all of the house components and wifi logon.
This house is perfect for families. With bedrooms in the basement, there was peace & quiet for those who prefer sleep and lots of common space for the rest of us. The house was completely outfitted with every amenity we could ask for and the kids loved the lightning fast wi-fi connection. Other appreciated amenities: comfy and warm bedding, the spacious dining room, paved roads, and flat parking.
The location was ideal for us as we did not want a very remote or hard-to-access property and we were pleased that the neighborhood was extremely quiet day & night.
Karen & Richard - thank you for the use of your lovely home and I hope we're able to return soon!
Magic 'tree' house
This was our 5th stay at Maggie's Tree House. It continues to wow us. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated for the season. The kitchen is super well equipped, the beds comfortable, the bathrooms nicely laid out, and more. The owners are super responsive and helpful. We will be back!
Thank you so much for the glowing review! We are so glad that you enjoy the house and that it has become a part of your holiday tradition. Wishing you all the best in 2018.
NEVER MENTIONED IT WAS IN NEIGHBORHOOD OF HOMES
This is a lovely hone, well stocked kitchen and good beds. BUT, the pictures nor the owners mentioned that it sits in a neighborhood with decks overlooking rooftops and cars in and out front and back. We are seasoned mountain visitors and go for quiet and beauty of mountains, we live in a neighborhood and don't want to vacation in one.
Felt a little tricked!!
In the many years that we have been renting this home this was the first time that anyone has indicated such dissatisfaction with the location and with how the home was represented on the website. We take these comments to heart and immediately indicated that this home is in a neighborhood on the website. We lived in this home for 2 years and never found the presence of others intrusive. We are sorry that Ernie and Karen were unhappy with the location.
The property is great and well maintained.
Love this house. It is easy access to get to the home and into the home. The bedrooms downstairs gets you away from the rest of the house for some quiet time. The open space upstairs is great. Owners are great to deal with also.
Thank you so much for your review of our property. We were very happy to host your second stay at Maggie's Tree House. We hope you will consider staying with us again if you return to the mountains.
All the best,
The third time we have been at this house - wonderful vacation.
Marie: Thank you for your lovely comments and for returning a 3rd time to Maggie's Tree House. We are so glad that you enjoy staying there. You always take such good care of the house and I'm sure the birds and squirrels are happy for the food you have put out for them.
Wishing you all the best! You certainly had some unseasonably warm weather during your stay this year.
Your contemporary mountain hideaway awaits. Walls of windows create a comfortable tree house for our guests. We are convenient to all of Maggie Valley's attractions, the Blue Ridge Parkway and beautiful historic Waynesville. Make this 3 BR, 2.5 bath home the hub of your W. NC mountain adventure. We are 45 minutes from the Asheville airport and 30 minutes into Cherokee where you can visit the museum, Harrah's Casino and other attractions. Our home has an open great room plan and a 47 inch flat screen TV for your enjoyment. Sit in the trees on our wrap around decks and enjoy the cool mountain breezes. You are surrounded by color in the fall and very close to the Cataloochee ski area in the winter. We have a large flat parking area so no mountain parking anxiety.
