These two beautiful cottages are a jewel on the south (shallow and sandy) end of Burt Lake. Your family will enjoy the beach front with long dock and fire pit set in the beautiful northern Michigan woods. Cottages are updated but maintain their turn-of-the-century charm at the end of a quiet lane. A perfect place for generations to gather.
NOTE: This property is not handicapped-accessible. All bedrooms are on the second floor.
Area attractions abound: These cottages are situated perfectly between Petoskey, Mackinaw City (with ferry access to Mackinac Island), Cheboygan, and Gaylord, all within a 30 minute drive. Burt Lake is part of the inland-lake waterway and provides access to Crooked Lake, Crooked River, Indian River, Mullett Lake, and the Cheboygan River out to Lake Michigan. There are lots of small local antique stores and art galleries including native American crafts. There are several golf courses within a short drive. The Indian River Golf Course is within five minutes of the cottages and is very accommodating to guests. There are two marinas in Indian River to launch and rent boats. A fire pit on the beach is perfect for hot dogs and smores and kids can jump in the lake and wash away the marshmallows stuck to ... whatever they stick to!
Cottage 1: Cottage 1 has three bedrooms, 1 full bath and 2 half baths. There is a large gathering area with wood-burning fire place, large dining room table, and fully equipped kitchen. Cottage 2: Cottage 2 has three bedrooms and 1 full bath. There is a lovely dining and gathering area around a wood-burning ceramic fireplace and an open view of the garden and lake. Both cottages contain historic maps, art work and needle work. A genuine family treasure.
