Description

Barbentane House Rental Photos and Description

4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, (2 bedrooms with private terraces), sleeps 9

Our village house is 250m ² and has about 100m ² outside, and an indoor pool heated all year long at 82° F to 87 . All comfort is available: 4 rooms prepared with bed linen and towels provided, fireplace lounge, cinema room (2m20x1m20 screen) with DVD player (films available), Wii console and games, wifi, two fully equipped kitchens (oven, microwave, stove, coffee machine...) and a wine cellar, and the indoor pool heated all year long at 82 °to 87 ° ...

It is a 16th century house fully renovated respecting the old. A walled garden ensures privacy and tranquility in the heart of the historic village of Barbentane, which has all the amenities at 2 minutes walk –grocery, bakery, fruits and vegetables, boucher and restaurants.

All bedding in our house is new (and ecological range). There are 4 bedrooms including 2 equipped with roof-terrace overlooking the rooftops of the village of Avignon, the Papal Palace and the Mont Ventoux (Avignon 10 minutes, TGV station 7 minutes, Saint Remy de Provence 15 minutes). We have 2 queen size beds 160x200, 1 king size bed 180x200, 1 original bed form of quarter-circle of radius 2.30m and 1 bed 1 person. All rooms have their ensuite 'italian shower' area, one of the rooms is equipped with a bath (4 bathrooms and 4 toilets). Each roof terrace is equipped with a sundeck and a small table for 2 people.

The garden overlooks a stalemate where cars do not access - the other front door provides access to drop off stuff from the car. It is very quiet. Car parking is free in the village a few yards from the house.

You can access within minutes walk to the little mountain above the village, which opens the doors to many hiking trails. There is also a beautiful “petanque” court in the upper village and 2 tennis courts outdoors among the pines. Barbentane has several riding schools, a small golf course, a jet-ski club (on the Rhone). You can also rent bikes and quads at a few minutes from there.

Gas barbecue in the garden.

We are equipped with ADSL and wi-fi.

lovely house

  • 5 of 5

The house was lovely and the location is fabulous. The village is quiet and peaceful and beautiful and the bus provides excellent connections to Avignon (although they are not frequent). The listing was very accurate. Sophie herself did everything to make our holiday wonderful, including driving me (because it was pouring rain) to show me the best local spots for quiet runs in the woods. Formidable!!!

Definitely a nice vacation choice!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoy our stay in this beautiful historical house and we had great time in South France. It only takes about 10 minute-drive from Avignon TGV station. The people in the village are friendly and you can just walk in this small historical village.

Sophie, the owner of the property, is so helpful and always shows her willingness to help us. She is a nice lady with a great heart. The house is clean and comfortable. All the rooms are well-furnished. Sophie has great taste to decorate this beautiful house. Kids enjoyed the pool. We cooked a lot since the food quality in the South is wonderful. The kitchen is well-equipped. We enjoy our meal in the dining room and also the table outside.

I am so glad to choose this house for our vacation in the area and hope we can come to stay again in the near future!

Amazing home away from home

  • 5 of 5

First of all, Sophie was wonderful to work with - from my initial inquiry, through the reservation process, to arrival and departure - she was extremely helpful and responsive to all of my questions/concerns. Her English is fantastic as well! She is so kind and willing to help with sight-seeing and restaurant recommendations. We have rented several vacation homes in the past in various locations, this was by far the best experience we have had with an owner and her home. She provided us with a detailed list of all the amenities to help with packing. Just one example of her kindness - our party of 10 (6 adults and 4 children - ages 9mos, 2, 4, and 7), arrived late in sunday night after red-eye flights from the US (DFW, LAX and SEA) to Paris and then a train ride to Avignon. Sophie called a local pizzeria for us to see if they were still open and even accompanied my husband to pick up the order to bring back to the house. She was highly attentive but never imposing. (By the way, we highly recommend the honey and goat cheese pizza from the pizzeria).

We felt as if we were staying in a castle. Part of the home was built in the 16th? century - which only adds to its charm - but it has been fully renovated and is truly a modern home. The home was immaculately maintained and is just as beautiful as the pictures - if not more! The beds were extremely comfortable. The home is well appointed with everything we needed for our stay (including all the kitchen supplies needed for cooking meals for our party of 10 and laundry detergent for our many loads of laundry). Sophie even brought by fresh thyme and other herbs for us to use. There were high quality hair dryers and hair straighteners for use. There was more than enough room for all of us to have our own space as needed and to allow for comfortable group gatherings. The kids (and adults) enjoyed the indoor pool and the wii when we had downtime. The stairs in the home (made of stone) are a little steep - not a big issue, just have to be careful with the kids.

The location is great (a little tricky driving/navigating the narrow streets - but we got used to that quickly) - 10 minutes from the TGV station, walking distance to the bakery, grocery store, and restaurants. Such a charming area! Barbentane was a great homebase for our visits to the surrounding cities (Avignon, Nimes, St Remy and Arles).

I would highly recommend this home to relatives and friends. We can't wait to return someday!

Superbes vacances dans une demeure de charme

  • 4 of 5

L'ambiance du lieu est magique, la piscine intérieure et l'espace jeu/vidéo sont des vrais plus pour s'amuser pendant la semaine.

les chambres et les sanitaires étaient très propres, le salon et la cuisine un peu moins, dommage.

While close to many worth-seeing places, you will also be right on spot to enjoy promenades in the wooded, thyme-covered slopes of la Montagnette. Barbentane's own château, with its rare intact 18th century interior furnishings, is also just a few steps away.

Ideally located, Barbentane is a small typical Provence village that will enable you to get the most out of your trip in the south of France: visits of monuments, charming southern villages with their local markets, outdoor activities, everything needed to discover the authentic southern style of life.

During your stay, you can enjoy the Avignon Festival (10 min away), while also making easy excursions to the ancient Roman Pont du Gard, to Nîmes, Uzès, the vineyards, the Ardèche valley, the lovely town of St Rémy-de-Provence, medieval Les Baux de Provence and the Alpilles, colourful Arles and the Camargue, the Luberon National Park with its stunning scenery and hilltop villages and the beaches of Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer.
