Tittesworth Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Troutsdale Farm in the glorious South West Peak District National Park area

At Troutsdale Farm there are 2 AWARD WINNING Eco barn conversions on the family farm in a quiet location, on the edge of the Peak District National Park, by Tittesworth Reservoir. Fully renovated by the owners with care and attention to detail, Troutsdale Farm offers quality accommodation of real character and charm and seamlessly combines all the old original features to still give a 'barn feel' with modern design and home comforts that make them ideal for family get-togethers. There are well equipped kitchens, hand crafted from oak with double belfast sinks, with large dining tables (seating 6 and 10). Both have spacious sitting areas with Clear view log burning stoves, flat screen TV and DVD player. There are en suites in both properties and exposed original beams, stone and brickwork and solid oak flooring on the 1st and 2nd floors. There is off road car parking and an enclosed garden area, ideal for sitting out and barbecues. Doorstep footpaths lead to circular nature trail

In November 2011 we won the 'MOST ECO-FRIENDLY HOLIDAY LET' category in the 'Fields of Opportunity' national competition and then went on to become the OVERALL WINNER out of all 5 categories

The greener features of the barn are carefully incorporated so that you hardly know they are there and require no expertise or knowledge. Central heating comes from the ground source heat pump and solar panels. Rainwater harvesting system works for all grey water. . Timbers replaced in the conversions were cut from local woods, and we have planted 20 acres of new woodland. The traditional lime plastered walls are painted in Earthbourne natural Clay paint, the windows are all made from wood and painted with organic linseed oil paints, Sheepswool insulation is used throughout the building, and natural clay aggregate forms the floor insulation in the limestone floor.

There are 4 herb borders from which guests can enjoy and pick their own herbs.

Both properties have been inspected by VISITENGLANDS ACCOMMODATION GRADING SCHEME and have been awarded 4 STARS as well as a coveted GOLD AWARD

The 2 properties can be booked seperately (sleeping either up to 6 or 10 + cots) or can be booked together sleeping up to a total of 16 + cots.

Due to the type of property and location both properties are not suitable for what is known as 'house party venue' or for 'louder' hen or stag parties - we can recommed other nearby places if you are after this type of accommodation

Payment for the booking will be arranged when we confirm your booking - with deposit requirement & full terms and conditions

Towler Wedding

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for 4 nights in November when our daughter was getting married - various members of the family stayed at different times, and eating together at the large Kitchen/Dining room table sharing memories before (and after) the big day was a memorable experience; we loved it - spacious, warm - a wonderful log fire, and incredibly hospitable owners.

We bought freshly laid eggs from the owner's young grand children who look after the hens, and took home joints of lamb reared on the farm.

The only draw back was the lack of sound proofing, so going to bed early when other members of the family were talking/watching TV was a bit frustrating.

Beautiful barn is stunning location

  • 5 of 5

The converted barn was beautiful, very spacious, it had all the facilities we needed, lovely kitchen and outside space. Would highly recommend for family/friend groups how a nice stay in the countryside. It was cleaned to a very high standard and the host was very accommodating throughout our stay.

Beautiful summer days at Troutsdale Farm Cottage

  • 5 of 5

A good time was had by all!

We spent a few days in late August in the Old Cartshed accommodation. It was a family reunion with grandma, granddad, daddies, mummies and six children.

We enjoyed every minute of it. The place was immaculate so we didn't want for anything. We loved the warm welcome from Barbara who showed us round and explained the ins-and-outs of the place to us. Every detail was taken care of, so we could just slip into holiday mode and unwind.

To our great surprise a delicious home-baked Victoria sponge cake waited on the table which was decorated with a bunch of exquisite flowers, picked fresh from the meadow. We had a cuppa, sat down and relaxed.

The children loved the nooks and crannies of the house and enjoyed the secure outside space where they could play at their leisure. It was possible to take extended walks from the cottage without having to take cars, and the children enjoyed exploring those and the hills beyond. There is also a lot to do within a radius of an hour's car drive which again is a bonus if you are coming with children.

There is a good atmosphere about the whole place. It's a happy place. We can highly recommend it.

Alas, the time there was too short. Hopefully we can stay longer next time.

Thank you to the people of Troutsdale Farm for providing such a beautiful place.

The Hall family from Hamilton, New Zealand, Hitchin, Hertfordshire and Stockport, Cheshire.

A Lake District Treasure

  • 5 of 5

Wow! What an incredible stay we had in The Old Cartshed on Troutsdale Farm!

We had the privilege and pleasure of spending four memorable days in early July on this unique farm ... the rejuvenation and inspiration we garnered there made us we wish it could have been a month or more!

Our family's stay at this family-run, working farm was an unforgettable and treasured experienced, seeded by the exquisite and charming accommodations and capped-off by the warmth of the owners' hospitality.

We enjoyed an extremely relaxing and tranquil time while on-property at Troutsdale Farm and were more than pleased to share our vistas and our peace-and-quiet with the farm's sheep -- which are actively living on and enjoying acres of open pasture on the farm's property east of Tittesworth Reservoir. A walk to the close-by village of Meerbrook or a hike along "The Roaches" ridge in nearby Blackshaw Moor provide excellent excursions to enjoy the people and landscapes of this Staffordshire hideaway.

Perfectly situated at the south end of the Peak District (only a few miles north of the lovely town of Leek), Troutsdale Farm is an ideal location to explore The East/West Midlands as well as the Peak District and Derbyshire Dales. It is equally perfect for going absolutely nowhere and remaining at the farm for the duration of one's stay.

This is a wonderful holiday location and we would return again in a heartbeat and highly recommend the experience at Troutsdale Farm without any hesitation!

The Old Cartshed

  • 5 of 5

I have never been moved to write a review before, which is really bad because I always choose according to other people's reviews, but I felt I simply had to this time. We stayed in the The Old Cartshed converted barn. It is absolutely beautiful. The generosity of the hosts ooze through the barn from the welcome cake and vase of flowers we found in the kitchen, to the soaps, hand washes, washing up products etc. The barn has a contained garden with spectacular views, had the weather been fit we would have had a BBQ. However the weather did not stop us from enjoying the lovely walks. The property feels spacious, we had 8 adults and 2 children staying, the property was able to accommodate us very comfortably. I will be recommending this property to anyone who stands still long enough to listen.
