very unusual but nice place to use by a family for a celibration
In the main we all enjoyed the place and only had a few niggles, one was the the fire alarm units kept beeping in all bedrooms at night and the access code for the TV films in the information booklet was not correct, however in respect to both when called your man was out immediately to correct these though the the alarm bleeping started again after one quite night.
Other small disapointments were it is accommodation for 7 people but it only had comfortable seating in the lounge for 5 people so some unlucky family members were quite uncomfortable sitting on the hard upright dinning table seating, the bedroom No4 i.e. two single beds, has very poor lighting and we could not see very well with all the lighting on, also the continuous green light over the window was a little off putting when trying to sleep.
please note the door handle to the on suit bedroom kept coming loose and we had to keep tighten up the screws on the last two days with a suitable knife ,and one of the family dropped one of the wine glasses and it smashed,Sorry.
We also think that your web site should make some reference to the fact that head room in some areas is severely limited as even though you had signs over the doors in question the taller men in particular could not avoid banging there heads at least once each but other than theses small points we all enjoyed our stay. so thank you.PB Hornby
Dear Mr Hornby
I would like to thank you for your very thorough and helpful review and of course apologize for any inconvenience caused however you can be assured I will act swiftly to get the points highlighted rectified immediately and thank you for letting me know about the wine glass which of course is not a problem these things happen.
Finally I hope to see you again in the future which I am sure you will hopefully be able to give my property a five star review.
Vic Fell Owner
Beautifully appointed, well equipped and comfortable.
A wonderful holiday apartment with everything you need. Comfortable beds, underfloor heating, fluffy towels and fresh eggs from the chickens. Vic gave us a warm welcome on arrival and a minor plumbing issue was fixed instantly.
The grounds are beautiful and we loved listening to the peacocks asking for their breakfast in the morning!
Beautiful cottege very cosy
just hired this cottege for my friends hen party weekend, we hired two cottages due to being a large party, this was perfect and extremely cosy, lovely surroundings would not hesitate to return
Amazing , beautiful and friendly place
Pictures dose not give this place justices- stayed in the Elliot house and the dairy, both places were lovely clean tidy everything's is in there that you need. Farmer Vic was soo friendly and was really good if we ever needed him for a query got back to us asap. Very kid friendly the kids loved helping farmer Vic out feeding the animals and collecting the eggs! Kids were always entertained aswell as the adults with the hot tub! Literally couldn't ask for a better place to stay - highly recommend it . Defiantly will be staying there again.
Had a great stay, hired The South Wing and Basement, 4 generations of family 10 adults 5 children and 1 dog still room to relax and have your own space. Farmer Vic was amazing with the children who all loved feeding the animals and collecting eggs, the play area is brilliant for the children, beautiful house's beautiful surroundings nothing is too much trouble we will be returning soon.
Really interesting basement apartment with lots of character
We had a great stay at Oakerthorpe, made even better by farmer Vic's egg collecting and and animal feeding experience which the kids loved - they were thrilled by the certificate which arrived in the post after our stay. The basement apartment was a good size for our weekend away and in a great location for Matlock Bath. The apartment was well equipped with two fridges. I was fascinated by the history of the place as the stone walls were an incredible feature - definitely a property with character at a very reasonable price.
