This camp is near hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails. Once the snow flies you will need a snowmobile to approach the cabin for the last 1600 feet of driveway. You'll feel so secluded and have access to nearby snowmobile trails that go on for hundreds of miles. North toward morehouse and east toward cranberry, mud and jerseyfield lakes. Thank you to all our customers. This year we have made several upgrades to camp. This includes the addition of almost 200 square feet of dining and kitchen space and generator hook up, lighting and outlets. We've captured so many quality bucks on our trail cams this year. Ask me and I will send you more pictures. Camp on 210+ acres adjoining thousands of acres on the Jerseyfield wild forest. The rustic cabin is beyond a dead end and offers seclusion, wildlife, hiking, fishing and hunting. I have several wildlife observation stands that you are welcome to use for photography or hunting. Six ladder stands and 3 hanging stands. While the cabin does not have running water, it offers an off the grid electrical system with internet connectivity, satellite TV, Propane stove and refrigerator. The RV type Commode is in an outhouse near the cabin, 10-15 feet off the back deck for convenience. There is a wood burning stove, propane barbecue, outdoor fireplace on the back deck and and a nice bon-fire pit. The property is situated with Millcreek running through the corner of the property, where there is a superb swimming hole. Nearby, within ten miles are all sorts of kayaking and boating on the Hinkely Reservoir and unbelievable tubing or fishing on the west canada creek. Truly a beautiful spot. Fauna on the property includes, Deer, Bear, Coyote, Ruffed Grouse, Turkey amongst all sorts of other wildlife. Hiking for miles upon miles available. The cabin is a two story barn style structure with a second story deck and a third story wildlife observation platform for bird watching and star gazing. When the moon is new, the stars at night are absolutely dazzling. I recall my father and I being at the cabin once during a meteor shower, and it was as if someone was streaking a brush with white paint across the sky. See my book about building the Cabin; "The Cabin Builders" for more tales from the Adirondacks. This is a perfect spot for seclusion and if your into target shooting your welcome to it.

About Craig Pfalzgraf
I'm an accountant, CPA, live in New Jersey and work for Ernst & Young (EY); I built this cabin with my brother and a few friends, it was a life long dream to own a place off the grid. I have one son, Charlie (10 years old), he especially enjoys the walk out to the High Falls on Millcreek. Its Truly a special place on earth. Also, out off the south east corner of the property, about half way toward vly brook from there, is a nice cliff that affords some scenery across a box canyon and out toward dairy hill road. Additionally, I've written a book about building the cabin called: "The Cabin Builders", check it out online.
Craig Pfalzgraf purchased this Cabin in 2000
Why Craig Pfalzgraf chose Cold Brook
This property is great if your an outdoors type person looking to commune with nature. Kick back with a nice bon-fire, swim in the creek. Also, you can do a lot of kayaking on the local rivers and lakes including the West Canada Creek and Hinkley Reservoir, which are not far away. I especially like some of the hikes along route 10; Jockeybush Lake and Good Luck being two of my favorites. The fishing on Jockeybush Lake is phenomenal as well as the West Canada Creek. A kayaking day trip down the West Canada creek is just what the doctor ordered. If hiking on the property, bring a compass, the Jerseyfield wild forest is vast and can become non-descript, especially if you venture into the state land which is devoid of roads and such.
What makes this Cabin unique
fishing, hunting, hiking. A lot of friends can get together here. There are 3 beds with 4 sleeping spots and two couches, one couch is on the back porch. You really don't miss much, given there is a TV, working stove and internet connectivity.

This was an amazing getaway. Craig was great to work with and everything went smoothly. We will be back !
The perfect getaway
Spent my labor day weekend at Craig's cabin. It was amazing! It was just my dog and I and we were truly the only people in the world. We made it to slanted rock, and tried to find the waterfall, but will have to try again next time. And the stars were absolutely mesmerizing. I am so glad I found this amazing cabin!
Thanks Katelyn, I’m really excited that you loved the cabin. I agree that the stars can be amazing, especially on the new moon. You were a great guest and we look forward to seeing you again. I’m planning more upgrades in the next year, so stay posted
Perfect cabin for a short get away..
I’ll start out by saying how wonderful, Craig has been and was to us! He made our stay very comfortable, almost home-like, and provided us with almost everything we needed.
The cabin is cute. It’s a little silly, but it’s a cabin. It’s meant for fun, good times, and memories that last a life time. The cabin is cozy, unique, and comfortable. I’d recommend for anyone that stays here to take time out of their night and check out the stars from the third story deck. They were incredible almost every night of our stay.
The property was beautiful, but at times a little hard to navigate through mainly due to overgrowth in some places. I would recommend pants/jeans on hikes and lots of bug spray. We hiked to slanted rock twice and from there we hiked upstream to high falls, which had a great swimming hole. I would recommend checking out both!
Overall, our stay was wonderful. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a perfect cabin get away!
Ps: Our dogs had an amazing weekend too!! A perfect stay for your furry friends!
Away from it all!
This property is just wonderful. Their is wilderness completely surrounding the cabin and you feel like you are the only people in the world. The decor is very cozy and rustic, with all the comfort of home. I think my family and I would have to say our favorite part of the trip was the back deck. The view from there is expansive and there is an incredibly cozy couch and a nice wood stove with cut firewood. It was heaven, very cozy, serene, and relaxing. I also very much appreciated goiung on the upper deck to view the night sky...There was a depth in the night sky that is beyond compare, unlike again I can get at home, even though I'm from a somewhat rural area myself. Craig the owner was incredibly considerate and helpful, anticipating a traveler's every want and need and always available to answer my questions. Thanks so much. I would definitely come back and would recommend to anyone wanting to get away and commune with nature--so many wildflowers and butterflies--it was idyllic!
Thank you Toni, for your review. You and your family were wonderful guests. I am so very happy to share the experience of the cabin with other like minded folks.
Aweomse Getaway for for a Hunting trip!
Booked this wonderful cabin for a hunting trip with the guys and it turned out to be a perfect choice! With so much property free for us to roam and tree stands at our disposal for hunting we couldn't have asked for a better place (Even though we didn't bag anything this time around we did see tracks and dropping s all over). The cabin itself is perfect for those willing to adventure outside their comfort zone yet still be able to connect if need be. It houses several wood burning stoves (One inside, two outside) that were perfect for relaxing and enjoying the inside as well as the great outdoors as well as a propane refrigerator and stove. With three levels of decks we couldn't have asked for better views of the stars and surrounding land! The owner was very accessible and answered every question we had in a timely fashion which made life much easier. I highly recommend this cabin as the perfect place to escape from reality and soak in the beauty of nature and do some fishing/hunting! We certainly had a great experience and hope to do it again next year! The only downside was the driveway...I highly discourage anyone from bringing a car down the driveway....follow the advice listed in the description and bring a truck/SUV if you can! Thanks for everything!
Away from it all!!
What a wonderful and private Adirondack property!! The property and surrounding lands are huge with so much room to explore! The cabin is basic, but has everything you need to be comfortable and still have access to your friends and family at home. All the deck space is wonderful especially the star gazing deck on top!! One of my favorite parts is having so many options to keep warm and enjoy a good fire every night. Cabin has a large fire pit in the yard and also has indoor and outdoor wood stoves!! If your looking to relax, listen, and enjoy nature then this is the cabin for you!!
Thank you Frank for the feedback. We look forward to having you visit again.
My neighbors, who let me tell you, appreciate the work, are helping me with a number of improvements. First we had the bull dozer in to clear some more area around the logging landing and knocked down some of the high points on the driveway. We also cut up some more firewood for the wood stoves. Then we're staining the cabin, it was due for a new coat. Also, we're adding a propane wall heater as well. When the weather gets colder, the fire tends to go out in the middle of the night, so having the wall heater ready to go on late at night and making it so you don't have to start a new fire, will be a lot more convenient. We're just about ready for the hunting season, and while we've put out three new tree stands, we have another five left to do. I'm headed up there next weekend to get a few more of them up. Also, I've put out some deer attractant, so hopefully the bucks are ready to go.
Additional information about rental rates
This is a primitive cabin for people that enjoy a unique wilderness experience. The driveway is a dirt road that is subject to a few puddles during periods of heavy rain. Guests use an outhouse and must bring in sufficient potable water for drinking and cooking. There is a rain barrel collection system that can be used for cleaning. I do have a bucket shower that can be used on the back deck, and guests are encouraged during the summer months to use the swimming hole on mill creek.
