Sunset Cottage is a private vintage (seasonal) cabin somewhat secluded on beautiful Cross Lake and yet walking distance to Dairy Queen, Zorbaz and more. Bring your bicycles and you can go further! The cabin was built in 1936 and has only had a few updates like running water and a bathroom. Later, the original bedroom was expanded and another bedroom was added. As you enter the cabin, you will step into a time when things were simpler and more relaxed. There is an over-sized sofa. This pulls out into a queen sized bed for additional sleeping. You'll see window seating which is actually a twin bed. By the front windows sits a pair of Adirondack chairs for chatting. There is a wooden rocker to rest or read, plus a recliner for relaxing. The original dining table is there with bench seating. Years ago, the table was sanded and refinished every summer. The kitchen is to your right with a bar height peninsula and bar stools. Just the perfect size and the cupboards and counter are all original. There is even a window like opening to the dining area. To the left are two bedrooms and bathroom. Above are vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and a fan. Small windows are up there in the top of the peaks for additional air flow. Below are the original hardwood floors. Look at the lake view out all of the front windows. Sunsets are the best. Now, step out the lakeside door and see the old picnic table to your right. This too was refinished every summer. To your left is the fire pit with two handmade log bench seats. There is additional seating to relax in the yard or even on the dock. The lake bottom is firm and sandy but deep enough on the end of the dock to do cannonballs. If you bring your own boat, there is plenty of room to park your trailer during your stay. Do you want to do more? Whether you're walking, biking, boating or driving, there is plenty to do and see in Crosslake. It all begins at Sunset Cottage. Listen, can you hear that? The lake is calling.

Step back in time...
Very quaint older cabin with a beautiful view of Cross Lake.
Just what a lake cabin get-away, fishing, relaxing visit should be. Guests will enjoy the experience.
Stayed here for two weeks in July and loved every minute. The cabin is charming beyond compare, comfortable and has everything you could possibly need. The owner and property manager were nothing short of fantastic. I will definitely stay here again. I saw some review mentioning something about noise from a nearby restaurant. Ridiculous. In all of the days I was there I heard absolutely nothing. And I was there for many days. This place is heaven.
Nice older cabin on great lake
Very pleasant cabin with great views of lake. Sleeping accommodations were acceptable for 3 generations with small children. No beach is a little bit of a drawback but good public beaches are available within 1/4 mile at the Corp of Engineers campground. Swimming off the dock works okay too. Cabin is older so does not have 3 prong outlets everywhere but the owner provided power strips to accommodate 3 prong devices. Restaurants and ice cream shops are within walking distance.
We would rent this place again with no hesitation!
We had a great experience at this little cabin. We brought a fishing boat and went all over the whitefish chain. The cabin was just what we hoped for and we got excellent weather for the weekend. Thanks for sharing your family property!
One of the best vacations ever on my childhood lake!
The cabin was great for our family reunion. We had a great time fishing off the dock, enjoying breath taking sunsets with loons calling through out the day. It's a rustic well kept clean place walking distance to everything you may need. Highly recommended!
Downtown Crosslake! Diary Queen, Zorbaz, Antique shopping, Gift shops, Goodwill, Parks, and more all within walking distance.
