About Marlene Baughman
I'm Marlene (my nickname). My husband, Mick, and I own this vacation rental. I am retired from the fields of nursing and pharmacy technology and Mick is an insurance adjuster specializing in heavy equipment losses. We live next door to this rental and are available to our guests before and during your stay to help make your vacation as comfortable as possible. We can be available as needed, but are very respectful of our guests' privacy. We love gardening and landscaping (when we have time), campering, motorcycling, golf, hiking, biking, skiing, family and friends. I have practiced yoga for more than half my life with local instructors as well as maintaining a personal practice. We have a 9-year old Australian Shepherd, the alpha dog in our family, an ancient cat, and (at last count) eight chickens.
Marlene Baughman purchased this House in 1989
Why Marlene Baughman chose Florence
Convenient location, beautiful home and property, a ton of opportunities to recreate!
What makes this House unique
We love the view from the deck, the kitchen/dining area, the warmth in winter, the coolness in summer, the brisk fall air, and the promise of spring.

It's a beautiful home, and Marlene thought of everything to help make her guests' stay enjoyable.
We loved our stay. Great host, spacious accommodations and fairly priced.
It was a pleasure to host Tami and her friends - wedding guests have kept the place busy this summer! These women were friendly, thoughtful, and respectful, and took advantage of our beautiful weather and surroundings during their stay.
Our group enjoyed our stay here very much. The host was very nice and lives just down the road had there been any issues.
What a wonderful house! We stayed at the house for 5 nights and it was our home away from home. It was 20 minutes outside of Missoula, which was perfect since we wanted to be out in the country. Margaret welcomed our family with a plate of delicious cookies which we ate in a couple days. The house was extremely clean and had all the necessities.
Margaret- thank you for your hospitality and letting us use your beautiful home. We would definitely recommend it!!
Kathleen and her husband were not able to stay but their daughter, Alicia, and family were able to be our guests and were just delightful, respectful, and very gracious. They are welcome back anytime!
Post wedding family visit
Marlene was so welcoming and organized - the house was spotless with lovely decor details. The thoughtful details in the bathrooms really made it a pleasure to stay. The house is very easy to find and it’s situation is quiet and private. Highly recommend it!
Pauline and her family were kind, thoughtful guests who took great care of the home and property.
Clean, spacious, gorgeous views - perfect!
Our group of 6 adults (3 couples) stayed here for a wedding. Place was very clean, spacious (the 3 bathrooms were great), and had great views and lounging space. Some of the decor and kitchen are older, but you wouldn't notice at all due to how clean and organized. We would absolutely stay again. Thanks so much for a great stay.
I love your impressions! Thanks, Alex for taking good care of the place. Marlene
Maybe next time we’ll meet in person...
"Bitterrooters" of western Montana are very partial to their neck of the woods. The uncommon majesty of the Bitterroot and Sapphire Peaks inspired Lewis and Clark and settlers who followed (including us). The Bitterroot River and its main feeders, The West Fork and East Fork of the Bitterroot River are fisheries for cutthroat and rainbow trout, and provide extensive stretches of scenic waterway for floating. Hikers and backpackers find miles of back-country trails to explore, pick huckleberries, and wade or dunk in the creeks along the trails. Bicyclists will love the Bitterroot Trail connecting Missoula and Hamilton. As it parallels Hwy. 93, a rider is nearly always in view of the mountains and foothills. Check in with Adventure Cycling in Missoula for the latest in cycling western Montana and...beyond.
In addition to the ranching and farming tradition that was the basis for settlement in the Bitterroot, the area is a haven for artists of all genres. Shops and galleries offer locally crafted visual, wearable, and functional art.
We live to ski, whether it's Alpine, cross-country, or back-country. Snowbowl in Missoula (30 miles), Discovery Basin in Anaconda(120 miles), and Lost Trail Pass (60 miles) on Hwy. 93 are popular destinations for locals as well as visitors to western Montana. Powder Mountain at Lost Trail Pass is our favorite for the powder and atmosphere. X-Country aficionados head east from Lost Trail Pass to Chief Joseph Pass for some of the finest tracking available.
The University of Montana and Grizzly football are institutions in western Montana, and this home is close enough to allow fans to enjoy a Grizzly rout, then return home to continue the celebration. Live music - all genres - flourishes in Missoula and the Bitterroot Valley. The Top Hat Lounge in Missoula books some of the most eclectic acts to be enjoyed many nights of the week. The Wilma Theatre, also in Missoula, books well-known artists throughout the year. Our newest outdoor venue, the Kettle House Ampitheatre, seats 4000 along the Blackfoot River during the summer season. And, in Hamilton, the Performing Arts Series treats locals to music of the world stage. The River City Roots Fest takes place in Missoula in August just as students return and we all need a reason to take to the streets to listen and dance to some amazing bluegrass and funk.
Our hospitals, St. Patrick (a Providence Institution) and Community Medical Center in Missoula, are a Top 50 Heart Center and Maternity Center respectively. Marcus Daly Medical Center is a small, but caring hospital in the town of Hamilton. There is a highly respected health clinic in Florence less than 5 miles from this home. We would love to work with patients and families to enhance healing.
