Peace and relaxation even between seasons -- highly recommended!

  • 5 of 5

After a few nights in Ottawa, before a few nights in Québec City, we appreciated a retreat in this well-built, comfortably furnished chalet on the banks of the Batiscan River. Gilles and Lise, who live next door to their 3 chalets, were friendly and helpful, and were happy to answer any questions and even let the children get to know their farm animals. We came after the winter season was definitively over, but before the spring and summer activities of the region were available. Still, for us, this was not a problem, as we were really just looking for a quiet place to unplug and unwind. This time of year did mean that between snowmelt and Spring rains, the river was very high: 8 ft higher than usual. The ground was too soft and muddy around the fire pit outside, but we made a fire in the shiny (new?) woodstove, which enhanced the charm of the place even further. We didn't turn on the TV, though the kids appreciated the puzzles and games in the closet. The nearby woods offered a lovely walk with our kids, and just down the road, the Sucrerie Boisvert has a shop with friendly staff and a nice selection of maple syrup products.

Hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

We spent an amazing 4 nights here and I must say, overwhelmingly surprised! The chalet (1) was beyond our expectations. Very clean, very inviting, very relaxing. If you want a nice calming place to stay, this is it! Definitely another visit is needed.

Cozy chalet in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I stayed here two nights along the way from Montreal to Quebec in one of the four bed chalets. The chalet was warm and inviting and very clean. All the amenities of home. The Batiscan river is right outside your door. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We used this as our base for seeing the Deschambault area. This stop was the highlight of our trip. Merci beaucoup, Gilles and Lise!

Superbe et parfaitement situé !

  • 5 of 5
