In 1085 the canons of Toulouse began to build in Artajona a fortified enclosure, marked by 14 towers. Inserted in this wall next to the church-fortress is this rural house, called "El Diezmo" because it is here where the tithes and first fruits are paid in exchange for protection. Next to it is the CRV El Diezmo II.
