About the property

High quality apartment with terrace overlooking crystal clear water

Our waterfront apartment is on high ground enjoying fantastic views over the clear water of Xlendi Bay, a fishing village with a small sandy beach. You can have breakfast on the terrace, then a swim in the bay before a short walk in the countryside along the nearby panoramic cliffs and winding valleys. Relax in the afternoon with a good read and in the evening you can enjoy a romantic meal sipping wine on the terrace while observing the colourful fishing boats coming and going. The apartment is finished to very high standards with solid pine furniture. The accommodation includes a good-sized living area leading onto the terrace, two bedrooms, a kitchen and bathroom. The apartment is on the fourth floor and serviced by a lift. There are great archaeological sites nearby and the old fortified city of Rabat is only 10 minutes away by bus. Visit the Azure Window at Dwejra and the red sandy beach of Ramla Bay. The apartment is in a quiet area but very close to popular restaurants.

Airport Transfer: We can arrange for your transfer directly from the airport to the apartment by taxi at an extra charge.

More than a holiday flat

  • 5 of 5

Seeing the picture of Xlendi bay your first thought might be that the sea can't really be that clear and blue and more. Next you might think this is just a picture of Xlendi from some luxury hotel penthouse. But no; not only does it look like that but immediately you open the front door you get the view through a full-width picture window and realise its a wonderful home to come back to after a day roaming around Gozo. And there is room on the balcony to eat. Xlendi seems to me to be the best place to stay on Gozo and this must be the best place to live in Xlendi. My partner spent time in Xlendi sixty years ago and says it hasn't changed nearly as much as most places. It is only a small town though and there was no grocery shop (maybe there is in high season). We heard that a mobile shop visits once a day but we were never around to see it. There are very reliable buses to Victoria and its supermarkets. Cooking facilities are good (electric) and the flat is laid out along a longish corridor so there is plenty of privacy. For six people the single bathroom/WC might make it seem more crowded but for the two of us it was the height of luxury. Not having been to Malta before I was quite surprised at how courteous the people are. Visitors from former colonial powers often feel rather embarrassed but in Malta they don't let you feel that way. I think they all realise how lucky they are to inhabit these islands and to have such beautiful houses (even the modern ones) made of local stone. Perfect weather for walking when we were there in early May and we could swim without wet suits. One of our best holidays ever and certainly the best value for money.

Lovely position, great views, quite spacious but could do with a few up-grades

  • 4 of 5

The position of this flat is great and it had lovely views of the Xlendi Bay, Mountains directly opposite, and the Village. Buses were frequest to Victoria, and there were some spectacular walks closeby. Eating out was easy as there were several good restaurants within a 5 min stroll, also a tiny somewhat disorganised provisions shop, where you could buy the basics. The flat has spacious rooms and plently of hot water, it was very clean and quiet. However, the negatives were there was no heater supplied in the lounge/kitchen/dining area and it was quite chilly, especially in the evenings [ March ]. There was no radio or CD player, which would have been nice. Weve never stayed anywhere before where you had a 'coin in the slot' meter for air conditioning - luckily we didnt need to use it ! Overall we had a nice time and loved Gozo.

Owner's Response: We are glad that our guests enjoyed their stay in our apartment, giving it such high ratings, and we welcome the useful suggestions made. Unfortunately, our guests did not realise that the cable TV also had a menu of over 100 music radio stations which they could have listened to. We will now put an appropriate note for future guests about this. As for the heating, this was available from the air conditioning units by simply turning them on to heating mode. It is true that these are coin operated but the cost is even less than the local utility tariffs. Also we opted for this last year to discourage guests leaving the units on when they are not in or even leaving them on when they leave to return home, resulting in unnecessary waste of energy. In fact this is the first time that we had this comment.

Wonderful relaxing week

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful apartment with stunning views across Xlendi bay. We spent a lot of time just relaxing on the balcony watching the boats, swimmers and visitors. Excellent restaurants within walking distance so no need to cook. We did cook local fish two evenings. The kitchen is well equipped. Excellent shower. The apartment is on the 4th floor but has a lift once you've climbed one flight of stairs. This was our first visit to Gozo but we hope to return one day.

Great place to have a special holiday

  • 5 of 5

This is a brilliant spot to stay in Xlendi (pronounced Shendi) which is, in my opinion, the best place to stay on Gozo. Though patently not a luxury apartment, the view from the apartment is jaw dropping, and combined with the location, provides the opportunity for a really special holiday.

The apartment offers everything that is needed, and is clean and well maintained. The only disappointent was the shower, which isn't much more than a dribble. Good broadband.

Alfred, the owner, was most friendly and helpful in all of our contacts with him, and arranged taxi's for us, which made the whole transfer and island hopping experience very straight forward.

We bought an unlimited 7 day bus card for e21 which was very useful (we bought it in the shop on the ferry) - which meant we didn't need to bother with a hire car which was great.

www. is useful to get a hang of the buses. There's no need to use the expensive hop on/off tourist buses. We found the schedule provided by the tourist office in the main square in Vicoria particularly useful, though times can be found using Google.

We did all of our shopping at the little convenience store down the street. There's also an ATM in the car park opposite the (scrummy!) ice cream shop. Our favourite restaurant was Ta Karolina and they got to know us! Reservations were needed. Wish we had brought snorkels and flippers for swimming in the azure blue waters of the harbour. Both Ramla and San Blas beaches are excellent and unspoiled by development.

We were hoping to do some serious walking but gave in to the heat after a couple of days!

All in all, a lovely holiday experience. We would certainly recommend.

Owner's Response: We are vey glad that our guests enjoyed their holiday in Gozo and will certainly look into the point made about the shower. Unfortunately we are on a high floor and the water pressure can never be great but certainly it should not be too bad and we shall certainly look into it.

Even better than it looked on the website !

  • 5 of 5

We've been staying in Xlendi for more than 20 years now, and had been using a bay-front hotel, which has unfortunately gone right downhill, so this year we chose self-catering, and were well- rewarded !

The appartment is clean, quiet, well-laid out, and very well equipped compared to many "strict-minimum-only" holiday flats.

A nice detail - we found eggs, bread milk, coffe & tea etc waiting for us !

The view from the balcony overlooking the bay was perfect, with shade in the morning for breakfast, and nice evening sun to sit watching the bathers & others relaxing just below.

Wi-fi worked well, as did the aircon & everything else

Parking less than 100 m away no problem

We can definitely recommend this let to one & all, & will definitely be going back.

Xlendi Bay is an old fishing village only 10 minutes away from the Capital city of Gozo, Victoria. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside along valleys and hills on the one hand and impressive cliffs over the clear blue Mediterranean sea on the other. The walks are truly enjoyable for nature lovers who can observe a wild variety of fauna and bird life while savouring the quiet and peaceful surroundings of Gozo's pristine valleys. At the capital you can visit the old Citadel dating back to the times of the Knights in the 16th century. On the outskirts there are the impressive archaeological Ggantija temple dating back around 5,000 years and still standing. You can also visit the Azure Window in Dwejra bay and take a boat ride to see the beautiful orange coral in crystal clear sea.

Other Activities: Xlendi is a very popular diving spot both for beginners and advanced divers
