About Christiaan Militello
I am a business owner that lives in the Charlotte NC area- I have owned this home for 10 years and we love it in the high country. We dont get to visit much, so I hope you will enjoy it.
Christiaan Militello purchased this Cabin in 2006
Why Christiaan Militello chose Blowing Rock
The area is absolutely beautiful with much to do. Great restaurants, outdoor activities and tons of shopping. It is less than a 2 hour drive from Charlottte NC so it is perfect for my family and yours.
What makes this Cabin unique
We are close to everything, FANTASTIC Views, tons of room for upto 14 people and beds for all. Often multiple families visit because there are 3 levels, so when needed you can get away from the group. It is also not TOO big, since the home is broken up into main level and upstairs and then there is separate stairway to basement where the kitchenette and bunkroom and pool table is.

My three sisters and our families had a family tradition of vacationing in the Blowing Rock area. For many reasons we had not done this for about 18 years. So we decided we had to get the tradition going again! Your home was the perfect location and size for us. We all felt very much at home and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. To see us all around your beautiful dining room table playing cards like we used to was very heartwarming. Thank you for allowing your home to be used. We plan to return again next year and keep the tradition going!
I am so glad you had a wonderful time. Your experience is the reason I rent my home out. Thank you , you are welcome back anytime
Dated and Clunky ... Expecting better...
Great Location, 5 min to Blowing Rock, 2 min to App Ski, and 30 min to Sugar Mt .
Check in was nor impressive. Arrived at the property management company to pick up the keys at 4:00 PM. They gave us the keys, and said it was still being cleaned, and would be done at 5:00 and that they would call us if it was ready earlier. We arrived at the house at 5:15, and it was still being cleaned. Lady there said she only got the call at 3:00 to come clean it, and she had another hour to go. We went to dinner, and when we came back at about 6:45 she was gone, but there was trash around the outside door and the trash can was full. The next day I picked up the trash and took 6 bags to the dumpster. Calls to the property management company and the owner ended up as messages left that were not returned.
Inside the furniture was well worn, and dated. The fireplace was really not usable because of a big old chair in front of it and nowhere to move it. kitchen was small ( no drawers) with little counter space. While drawers and cabinets were full, it was very disorganized, and difficult to find things. Mattresses were saggy and sheets old. We searched and only found 4 washcloths, until the last day, when we found more in the dryer. And this was the first projection TV I had seen in 20 years. Pool table had an outside mat under one leg to level it out. A couple of lights only worked if your screwed in or out the bulb as the pull cords were missing. The buffet and dining room table were so over sized that the chandelier was not over the table, but rather over 2 of the chairs. Please note that the pictures of the furniture in the listing is different that what we saw. And that the kitchen picture is the kitchen in the basement, not the one on the main floor.
Just makes you wonder if the owners or the property management company care.
Good place for a Boy Scout troop, or a Fraternity reunion, but not a place to take Momma.
Great house for large families!
Our family stayed here for Appalachian's winter graduation. The house holds a lot of people and has great views (great sunrises!). We enjoyed the hot tub! I will suggest that you have 4 wheel drive if you rent in the winter; the icy side roads were tricky!
Thank you for your kind words, I am glad you enjoyed your stay.
The house and amenities were wonderful, as was the staff with the rental company. The only issue we had was the driveway is a bit of a challenge, which is typical of mountain properties.
Thank you very much, I am glad you enjoyed it.
The property was big enough to hold 14 people for an engagement celebration and the App Wake game, the hut tub was a great place to relax and space was great. We did have an issue of the house not being cleaned prior to our arrival but that's not the fault of the home. Overall great trip and awesome property.
House needs a weekend of work
I found this house to be pretty annoying, because so many things didn't work. If the owners spent a weekend fixing it up, it could be a lot better. Clean out the closet full of broken chairs and other junk. Fix the kitchen window crank. Hook up water to the fridge, so that the ice maker and door water dispenser work. Take a shovel to the drive to smooth out the potholes. Scrape the "cushion dandruff" off of the dining table chairs and put covers on them. The right front burner in the upstairs kitchen doesn't light, until it does and you have a mini fireball that singes your eyebrows because you were looking under the pot, trying to figure out what's going on.
If you have budget, also replace the downstairs carpet, which has gotten pretty ratty. Is there some way to build in the dehumidifier, so that the loud part is outside? We had to turn it off at night to get some sleep.
On the plus side, the hot tub worked very well. We enjoyed that quite a bit.
