About the property

Atsipopoulo villas

Atsipopoulo villas are approved by Greek Tourism Organization with license number: 1041K91002986701.

A few kilometers outside Rethymno, in the village of Atsipopoulo, we see the construction of two guesthouses, 'Elia' and 'Myrtia'.

The owners have respected the traditional architecture of Crete and have used indigenous materials such as stone and wood. However, they have constructed a very comfortable house, as it is the most important point of holidays.

They await you to experience the Cretan hospitality, tradition and history, as well as pleasurable moments of relaxation and serenity.

The villas locate at the center of village Atsipopoulo, which can meet all your first needs. Supermarket, bakery, groceries and butchery shop, cofee shop, restaurants, ATM and pharmacy are all in walking distance (200 metres from the entrance of the villas). However, as you come in from the entrance of the villas, the whole atmosphere changes, as our villas locate inside the nature in a peaceful and ideal for relaxing enviroment. The center of Rethymno is also 5 kilometres away and 10 minutes drive.

Each villa is concstructed in maisonette style, measures 150 m2 and has a private swimming pool and balcony. Moreover,it can host 8 persons in 4 bedrooms. Two of them have a double bed and the rest two have two single beds each.

On the ground floor you will find the living area with a fireplace, a full-equipped kitchen and a dining area. It also includes the first two bedrooms, one bathroom and a lavatory.

The top floor consists of two bedrooms, a bathroom, a lavatory and a balcony with a view of the traditional village nearby and the nature. All the rooms are air-conditioned.

Each villa is equipped with Satellite television, DVD player, CD Player and radio, Coffee machinet, Microwave, Toaster, Dishwasher, Clothes washer, Deposit box, Hair-dryer and Baby cot.

The exterior of the each villa includes a 27 sq.metres private swimming pool, a dining table and seats for all the 8 persons, as well as 8 sunbeds in order you can enjoy the cretan sun. In addition, each villa has its own barbeque facilities for your personal use.

The location of the villas are ideal for exploring our whole island. Located in the center of the north part of Crete, only 3 kilometres from the highway provides easy access from the local airports (Heraklion and Chania) and the opportunity to visit from the big cities of the island to the smallest beaches in both north and south part of Crete.

Guests will have access and full privacy to all areas indoor and outdoor!

We will wait for you in the villa for your arrival (despite the time, even after midnight) in order to help you with the house details and give you as much informations as you want about the area, taverns, shops, places and beaches that you have to visit!

Also we will clean the villa and change towels and linen every 3 days!

Finally we will be there for your departure for our last thank you!

We will be also reachable on our cell phone and e-mails 24/7!

Our home locates only 1 kilometer from the villa, so we will be able to come in a few minutes at the villa ofr anything that you will need.

The unique benefits of villas Elia & Myrtia according to my opinion and my contact with the previous guests are:

-The close distance to the services (2 minutes walking) of the local village in addition to the privacy and the peaceful enviroment that our villa secure, is definitely our villas's strong advantage.

-The large swimming pool and the peaceful exterior enviroment will take you away from the everyday's problems. In addition children will for sure love it and will spend most of the day at it.

-Each villa is designed absolutely for your holidays. It has logically big rooms, all the necessary facilities and comfort togehter combined with the traditional architecture of Crete. And don't forget that all rooms are air-conditioned.

-The villas are only 3 kilometres from the interchange of Atsipopoulo, which provides access to the highway of Crete. As a result, villa Myrtia has easy access from the two big airports of Crete (Chania and Heraklion) and also is ideal for exploring the whole island of Crete (which has a lot of worth visiting places), as it is in the middle of the island.

-The city of Rethymno is only 10 minutes drive from our villa, so having a walk at the old picturesque small roads of it, it is more than easy.

-Don't forget to explore the old part of village Atsipopoulo. Its beauties are not so famous, but with a small walk at its graphic neighbours and also the contact wit the local people will impress you.

-Our family lives only 1 kimometer of the villa, so we are available to come at any time and nothing is too difficult for us. Our first rule is that all of our guests must depart from our villa with a smile and a wish for a comeback.

Transfer from and to our villa is rather than easy.

Even if you don't have a car, there is a bus stop only 200 metres from our villa and the bus will transfer you quickly at Rethymno city. However, also the taxi to Rethymno city will cost you a little amount, as the town is very close.

Perfect host, setting and amenities

  • 5 of 5

George and his family served as ideal hosts. Beginning from the time of our first questions prior to booking through to the end of our stay, we were given prompt and helpful assistance.

The property is set in a small village that has good services - a few restaurants, shops, bakery and places for coffee. The beautiful city of Rethymno is nearby and the location also allowed us to explore many places other parts of the island easily.

The villa has high quality and comfortable furnishings, making it very comfortable to sleep and relax during the day. The layout is spacious with practical space both indoor and outdoor. Everything was as described in the profile.

However, our family all felt that as impressive as the villa was (we have stayed in many short term rentals in the past years and this was our best!!) the strongest aspect was in fact the hospitality. George and his family met us with warmth, kindness and a genuine concern that our stay was as enjoyable as possible. We are happy to say that we were very pleased on all levels with the choice to stay at the villa and would highly recommended it to anyone considering a vacation to Crete.

Thank you George for providing us a wonderful, lifelong memory!

Fabulous Summer Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We booked Villa Elia months in advance and so when the long wait was over we certainly weren't disappointed.

The property was easy to find from the airport and we received a warm welcome from George and his mother. In fact over the two week holiday (and in the run up to the break) they couldn't have been more helpful.

The property is conveniently located centrally in the village with everything you need on the doorstep, from a bakery to a coffee shop and takeaways to supermarkets, all walking distance.

The villa is immaculate and offers all the facilities you could want to ensure a successful and relaxing break and is geared for adults and children.

The villa is only a few miles from the sea and the picturesque town of Rythmeno, which offers good restaurants, although I would use the beaches out of town, where you don't have to pay for the sunbeds, which can be costly when there are eight of you.

We had a wonderful holiday and would thoroughly recommend the villa to those thinking of holidaying in Crete.

Thank you George for looking after us.

Amazing stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa Ellia in the height of the season, as a family of 4. Having never been to Crete we were eager to have a good base and chose a villa rather than staying in a hotel. Villa Ellia was amazing, George and his family incredibly hospitable and helpful and the village of Atsipopoulo just great.

The villa is beautiful, the pool a good size, not one of those small pools you cannot really swim in, the apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. If there was one change it would be better WiFi, but we were on holiday so it wasn't a big deal and not a fault of George and the villa.

When we come back to Crete we will be looking to stay again.

We saved the best for last!

  • 5 of 5

After touring Athens, we arrived in Crete and stayed in the villa. Upon arrival George made us feel like family! The villa exceeded our expectations and was even better than the pictures. Having a private pool also made for a great way to start and end each day. George was very helpful in arranging a car rental from the airport and helping us plan our day trips including a trip to Santorini. I would strongly recommend this villa for an authentic Greek vacation and can't wait to return to villa Elia.

Had such an amazing time at George's villa. It's just 10 minutes down the road from the old town in Rethymno. Really easy to get too in a taxi. And to be honest it's in a really cute village, it's 2 min walk to the main square where there's a lovely restaurant.

Couldn't have asked for anymore, best BBQ ever. Lovely patio, great pool, will definitely be back.

And George and his family were so welcoming, we had a traditional drink on arrival :)

My husband and I stayed at Villa Elia in late April/early May'16 for 2 weeks. It is a really special villa, beautifully furnished and built to exacting standards. The village of Atsipopolou, where the villa sits, is a really nice village, with most things on your doorstep, chemist, ATM, bakers, supermarket and the village also has 3 restaurants. The villa itself has been well designed, especially for 2 families with children, as the ground and top floors both have a double-bedded room and a twin-bedded room, each floor sharing a bathroom. I would describe it as a perfect place to chill and unwind. In essence, no expense has been spared in making this property something really special. The Greek family, who own and manage the villa, and live locally, are excellent hosts and will try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They really care about their guests and will do their utmost to help you in any way they can. Thank you George, Magda and Mary, for making our holiday unforgettable.

The two villas are built almost in the center of Northern Crete in Atsipopoulo Village, 5 km from Rethymno city.

The village of Atsipopoulo is strategically placed and therefore it has seen many battles against the Turks. The houses are closely built to each other and are easily converted to a fortress in times of need. The residents realized the architectural value of their homes and respected and up kept them. In this way Atsipopoulo today upholds the traditional look and sophistication of Venetian years. Its neighborhoods, its churches and spellbinding alleys will charm the visitor. Walking through the side streets they will find themselves under Venetian galleries and arches.

Welcome to Rethymnon, the capital of the perfecture of the same name. It is located on the north Mediterranean coast, between the prefectures of Chania and Heraklion. The town of Rethymnon still maintains its old aristocratic appearance, with its buildings dating from the 16th century, arched doorways, stone staircases, Byzantine and Hellenic-Roman remains, small Venetian harbour and narrow streets.

The Venetian Loggia and the municipal gardens are also some sites that you don't want to miss. Arcadi monastery is a place which reminds to all Cretans and any visitor the struggle for freedom against Turkish conqueror. It is a historical monument which attracts many visitors every year. The town of Rethymnon offers great amusements as small bars near the seaside, clubs, restaurants and many small picturesque taverns.

People of Rethymnon as all Cretans, are very hospitable people and they will try to make you feel like your home. You will also have the chance to taste the delicious local products!

There is a mountainous area in the centre of the prefecture, from where you have access to the highest peak of the mountain Psiloritis . Wonderful exotic beaches decorate the prefecture, where you can forget your worries and relax in a luxurious hotel or any accommodation of your taste.
