Very nice location. Clean property comfortable bed etc.
Very nice host.
Mahalo Jake and Ann, all the best to you.
An exceptionally clean, self-sustaining house!
From the minute we got there, our host greeted us while she was doing a very deep clean. We were able to move in ahead of the scheduled arrival time.
The house is almost entirely off the grid, using 100% solar and wind power along with gas for the stove, washer and instant hot water.
The view was great and in an area that is super quiet! The house is located pretty conveniently, not too far off the main road, and pretty close to a few small towns where you can get groceries and supplies. It's also less than an hour from Volcanoes National Park.
William and Karen, it was a pleasure meeting you. We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay at our Hale Kaulua Ke‘ena Luana. Wonderful guests like you make the/our world a better place; mahalo for your kind energy.
Happy holiday season and a splendid 2019.
Much Aloha to you and yours.
Lovely new home with stunning view. Great base to explore South Island. Exceptionally great hosts!
Wind & solar power combined with a clever house design made for a comfortable peaceful stay at this newly built home. There is a delicious herb garden, & artful landscaping for privacy & enjoyment. I loved sitting on the lanai in the morning sun watching colourful birds in the adjacent flowering bushes. Stargazing at night was amazing as there is so little artificial light here. The house was spacious . The beds were comfortable , bedding & towels abundant. Kirsi, the owner & host has a great eye for colour & design adding simple touches to each room. The kitchen was well equipped, the appliances new and there was more than enough cooking ware, dishes etc. There's also a great little direct gas BBQ available just outside the kitchen. Washer & dryer shared with the other suite in this house were excellent & the location in a cupboard area off the lanai kept noise & heat out of the house. The South Point area has many beautiful quiet areas to enjoy a hike, snorkel, bike ride or swim. Our host provided us with the equipment & local guidance to find & enjoy the many hidden treasures. The house also had a well- stocked selection of books about Hawaii. Kirsi showed us where to find great local coffee served in an amazing garden cafe. Naahelu has a wonderful bakery & some fun little lunch spots with very tasty food. There's a funky old pub that is the only real nightspot. Grocery shopping is limited but there's a farmers market and some fruit & produce, coffee & Macadamia nuts available at local farms. We also enjoyed local grass-fed beef & fresh fish from locals in the area.
Southpoint is a wonderful, peaceful spot to truly soak in Hawaii. This house is a wonderful space to enjoy while you do! Thanks, Kirsi
Stunning house in a quiet area. Every detail has been thought of and Kirsi is an amazing host. The house has a luxury feel to it, while still being very cozy. We would definitely stay there again! There are a couple farms on the way on South Point Rd worth stopping at for local flavors.
Great, quiet house
Two bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room. All nicely furnished. Very quiet location, very dark at night. It was overcast when we were there, so sadly no stars.
Mahalo for staying with us, for keeping Hale Kaulua impeccable and for your positive review. It was a pleasure meeting you kind people. Will wish for starry nights next time you come. A Hui Hou. Aloha
Wonderful Stay at a Beautiful Place
We had a very relaxing stay at this beautiful place! The house is situated in a very quiet neighborhood with great views, it was a joy to spend time there relaxing! It was also an excellent base, to go and explore the island from!
The house is very nicely furnished and is equipped with everything you will need for your stay. The owner has paid close attention to details and has provided all of the cooking equipment needed. Plus provided some of the basics and those left by previous tenants, such as olive oil, seasonings, salt & pepper, mustard, jams, etc.. We greatly enjoyed cooking on the gas stove and a gas barbecue.
Toys were also provided for going to the beach, such as boggy boards, coolers, towels, beach chairs, etc. Since the house is located on a golf course, the owner also provided a set of golf clubs!
It was very, very clean upon our arrival and the owner had it cleaned during our two week stay.
Definitely, a place to go back to!
Thank you very much for the nice review. Wonderful guests like you make it such a pleasure to share our piece of paradise. Just wish we would have had more time to visit. We hope that you will come and stay with us again. A hui hou Aloha
