CASA SMID is a modern 3 bedroom townhouse precisely located in ‘Praia de Lota’ which is just beside the popular village of Manta Rota. Placed in a peaceful residential area, there is little passing traffic and plenty of space to park 1 or more cars directly outside. The main entrance to the house is securely gated with stairs leading up to the front door. Inside, the accommodation is comfortable and well equipped, with living areas and 3 bedrooms spread over 3 floors with stairs between all. The main hallway leads to an open plan living area with kitchen diner and lounge with a choice of European TV Channels, and a log burner for the winter. The first floor has 2 bedrooms: 1 double room with ensuite bathroom, 1 twin room and also a separate bathroom. The third twin bedroom is located on the lower ground floor and has a shower room facility. Outside, the house also has private open areas. On the ground level, large windows lead from the lounge to a lovely patio and garden area. Here there is room for relaxing and sunbathing and also ‘Al-Fresco’ dining with a traditional brick BBQ and a canopy for shade. For those who worship the sun there is an open space on the roof terrace which has a table and chairs, sunbeds and lovely views out to the ocean. Casa Smid is great for families or couples seeking a peaceful holiday with amenities close by. The 2 local beaches, restaurants and shops can be reached in around 10 minutes on foot - or you can hire a bike!

Charming and spacious house next to the beach

We enjoyed our stay here very much. This is a gorgeous and very spacious house. Everything was clean and tidy. It has a charming patio and a beautiful terrace from where you can see the sea. Wonderful location next to the beach, gorgeous nearby villages and magnificent rural areas up-country. It’s also a perfect location for a visit to Andalusia. We’ll definitely be coming back in the future.

Great holiday stay

Me and a friend have been staying here for one week. We've had a great time in Manta Rota. The weather was great and the nature was beautiful. The house was just perfect for us. So many bedrooms, clean bathrooms, a kitchen with everything you need and a great garden. We haven't seen anything wrong about this house and we haven't had any trouble, with anything. I'll recommend this place to everyone who wants a great time, in a great house, with or without children!

Holliday stay in portugal

Great place to stay. The location was perfect as we had hoped. lovely nature walks through the Ria Formosa...were we saw flamingos....and we even saw a chameleon when we were walking to the beach. Our daytrip to Seville made our holiday complete. The house is lovely with beautiful plants in the garden...very friendly neighbourhood however its a 10 min. Walk to the nearest supermarket. We are looking forward to come here again.

Great family home

Our family had a relaxing stay in this beautiful and comfortable house, and we enjoyed dining outside and the view from the roofterrace was stunning. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious and well looked after. The children had a lovely time playing on the sandy beach. We would definately recommand this holliday home. Fam. Manta Rota

Not suitable for people with a walking disability, 48 steps from roof to lower ground floor. The twin bedroom in the basement has a Bathroom next to it but it only has a shower and washbasin no toilet, there is room for one. The shower in the double bedroom is the smallest one I have ever seen. Lots of chipped and leaking crockery. The whole house needs a make over. The weather made it a good holiday the sun shone every day (08/03/2014 to the 22/03/2014)

Casa Smid is exactly located in Praia da Lota which is a just beside Manta Rota Village. Praia de Lota has a wonderful beach just a few minutes walk away from the house and as it is less well known, tends to be less busy in high season! Around 10 minutes walk away (or a short bicycle ride!) is the main Manta Rota Village which as a destination has retained its typical Portuguese charm and exudes a very relaxed and family friendly atmosphere. There is a great selection of restaurants and cafe/bars, a supermarket, butchery, bakery and cash machine, as well as a selection of shops selling local crafts. The beach is blue flag status and has long golden sands with sunbeds and shades for hire. There is also a selection of excellent courses close by for keen golfers. In the summer evenings, there are stalls and activities in the main square for all to enjoy. Car not essential, but recommended if you wish to explore other surrounding towns in the Eastern Algarve


We would highly recommend a visit to the beautiful town of Tavira. You will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquility. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history dating as far back as 2000BC. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful drink or meal. Horse drawn carriages and a small train operate around the town and are perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the peaceful ambience. The many churches (37 in total!), the town castle and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park are all places to visit, along with the wonderful daily market selling fresh home grown produce. Tavira Island and its wonderful beach is accessible by ferry boat from the town and offers excellent facilities with a wonderful holiday atmosphere.


By travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do for everyone. For nature lovers, forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or nature trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! Travelling West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine all easily reached by car or by day trip coach. The Spanish border town of Ayamonte is approx 25 kms by car, where the delights of another country can be sampled along with wine, Tapas and shopping. Ayamonte can also be reached by ferry from Vila Real. Seville is about 170km away, and budding historians may enjoy Castro Marim castle.


This is perfect accommodation for golfers wishing to sample the excellent courses situated in the Eastern Algarve. Within a 20km radius there are 6 courses to choose from. Benamor and the 2 Quintas (Ria and Cima) are the most popular and have fantastic scenery and sea views. The prestigious new Monte Rei course designed by Jack Nicklaus now has its first 18 holes open and is continuing in its development to the second phase offering the height of golfing luxury. Although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! Travelling East to just before the Spanish Border, the challenging courses of Castro Marim and the Ballesteros Signature Course Quinta do Vale both come highly recommended. We can offer discounted rates and can organise a full golfing package with play at a selection of these courses, car hire and rental of this property.
