Located on the first floor of the beautiful Palazzo Bardi, the first example of Florentine Renaissance palace. As you enter, you'll enjoy the feeling of the atmosphere typical of the Renaissance greeted by the spectacular Brunelleschi's cloisters. The apartment comprises a fully equipped kitchen, a living room with sofa bed, a double bedroom overlooking the cloister and a spacious bathroom.
We spent a wonderful, sunny week in Florence at the start of October staying in this tastefully decorated, beautifully appointed and impeccably clean apartment. We were welcomed by Roberta who was very kind and helpful, recommending restaurants to try and places to visit, including the workshops of local artisans. An intriguing fact about this apartment is that it is part of the Palazzo Bardi, which is apparently the first domestic building designed by Brunelleschi… It’s very well situated for exploring the city, being close to all the major attractions. Located near Santa Croce, it’s seconds away from the Arno and within a short walk of the Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, the Duomo and the Uffizi Gallery. It’s also very close to one of our favourites, the Museo Galileo. It was a real pleasure to retreat to the peace and calm of the apartment at the end of the day, or indeed any time we needed to rest our tired tourist feet.
Excellent in every way! Beautiful, very clean, warm and quiet, with plenty of hot water and good WiFi. We did not find any street noise, but we were there at quiet time of year. Very well located and close to everything with great little bars and food places very near by. We fell in love with porchetta at the All'Antico Vinaio around the corner on Via de Neri. Also Roberta left tips for good restaurants we enjoyed.
We only hope we will be able to come back for another visit!
My husband and I stayed at Palazzo Bardi for four nights. I had stayed in this neighborhood in Florence a couple years ago, and knew it to be very convenient to restaurants, markets, museums, and the Arno. The owner, Roberta, greeted us kindly upon our arrival. The apartment has lovely vaulted ceilings painted with trompe l'oeil accents. Roberta had plenty of helpful business cards, maps, and restaurant and grocery recommendations for our use. She also had a couple DVDs about the Medici family history that we enjoyed watching one rainy evening - very fitting viewing for our time in this historic place. The kitchen is modern and well outfitted, and has a nice Nespresso machine for your morning coffee. The bedroom window overlooks the courtyard of the palazzo, providing a charming view and a quiet position. The WiFi worked well, very helpful to my husband for addressing business needs.
Florence is a wonderful walking city, and it's so easy to navigate from this apartment's location - steps from the Ponte alle Grazie. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Florence, and the homey charm of this special little apartment certainly contributed to our experience.
Tip: It's a hike, but do visit San Miniato al Monte. The view is wonderful, and the cemetery, with its elaborate tombs and unusual, personal statues, is fascinating. The architecture, interior, and floors are beautiful - and - at 17:30 (5:30 pm) the monks chant vespers in the crypt - beautiful and mesmerizing! Do a google search before you go to learn more.
This apartment is truly charming with absolutely everything you could possibly need to make your stay in Florence the experience it should be. A night owl's paradise! WiFi did work well but not supportive of Skype. The bedroom, washroom kitchen and living room are perfect! Roberta and Stefano thank you, it was a wonderful time in Florence.
What a stroke of good fortune it was for me to have found this beautiful and charming apartment on HomeAway! The owners, Roberta and Stefano, were such kind and gracious hosts who made sure my 3 week stay in Florence was pure enjoyment. The apartment was immaculately clean, with wonderful architecture and design, and well equipped with everything a traveler could desire. Its location in the historic district was perfect – within walking distance to all major attractions – close to the River Arno and Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, Uffizi Gallery, shops and restaurants, the Duomo, etc. Just a short walk from the front of the apartment building to cross the Ponte Grazie bridge also allows one to explore and dine in the quieter Oltrarno neighborhood, away from some of the more crowded touristy areas.
I highly recommend this property. If I ever have the pleasure of traveling to Italy in the future, I would most definitely return to this gem of an apartment.
Grazie mille, Roberta and Stefano for your warm hospitality! I enjoyed every minute of my stay!

Palazzo Bardi is situated in the heart of the historic center of Florence. It was built in 1430 on behalf of the family Busini. The most interesting feature is the beautiful central courtyard designed by Brunelleschi, probably the first private courtyard elegant square in Florence, has round arches that give rise to a full on four sides with porch columns and Corinthian capitals. Typically, Brunelleschi is also the arrangement of the doors that open onto the courtyard. The apartment is on the first floor of the building, completely renovated, has all the necessary amenities for a pleasant stay, LCD satellite TV, wireless Internet access, air conditioning, heating, equipped kitchen. Located in the heart of the city is surrounded by historical buildings, monuments and museums. Only a few steps from Palazzo Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio and the beautiful Piazza Santa Croce. Nearby are also major shopping areas with shops of jewelers, craftsmen and the most important signatures of Made in Italy. Good restaurants with typical Tuscan and international cuisine are easily reached on foot. Also nearby there, pharmacies, supermarkets and banks.
