A holiday in the Saas Valley is much more than a simple 'holiday'. Whether you come in the winter for the inexhaustible snow sports or to enjoy the beauty of the mountains in the summer, it will be an unforgettable experience.
The Saas Valley lies at the heart of 13 four thousand metre mountains in a beautiful high alpine world, the 'pearl of the Alps'. Saas Fee and Saas Grund are more southerly than Ascona and Locarno on the shores of Lake Maggiore.
Haus Alfa is located in the glacier village of Saas Fee, at the base of a horseshoe of thirteen 4000m-plus peaks with the giant Feegletscher oozing out from between them. The village can lay claim to unrivalled Alpine views and landscapes and as a result is a popular tourist destination. The traditional old wooden mazots or barns set on staddle stones add to the atmospheric feeling of this wonderful village. As Saas Fee is a car free village it makes a perfect destination for those wishing to get away from the noise, hustle and bustle of modern day life while still offering a vibrant night life for those wanting something a little livelier!
In winter, 25 ski lifts and the worlds highest underground funicular railway can transport 26,000 people per hour to 140 km of prepared ski pistes between 1800m and 3600m above sea level. During winter the 13 blue ski runs, 14 red runs, 5 black and 3 unprepared offer a variety of ski-ing opportunities while the snowboarding facilities have made it one of Switzerland's top boarding destinations.
Cross country skiing
Haus Alfa is situated just 400m from the start of a 8km cross-country skiing circuit with a height gain of 154m. For a more challenging experience, the 26km Saas Valley cross country skiing circuit between Saas-Almagell and Saas-Balen is easily reached by public transport.
Winter walking trails

The paths to Melchboden and Saas Almagell invite you to a magical forest walk with the possibility of seeing beautiful Chamois, Deer, and other wildlife.
The Hanning also offers a 5km toboggan run with sledges available to rent from the cable car station. Who said that sledging is only fun in the daytime? It would be a shame to just let the night pass by... Night-time sledging at Hannig every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Last ride down at 10 p.m. For the more adventerous tobogganer there is the 11km run in Saas Grund - the longest toboggan course in Switzerland accessible by cable car.
