charming appartment, friendly owners
We enjoyed our holiday in Machico in Jorge and Paula's appartment, which has its entarance from the courtyard of their house. The appartement is conveninetly close to the airport, one can reach it in 10 min. The rooms were spotless and cosy and regularly cleaned. The owners were welcoming and very helpful throughout our stay. Our 5-year old child was allowed to play with Jorge's puppies, which kept her entertained in the evenings. For her this was the highlight of the holiday. We highly recommend this accomodation.
Nos gostamos muito de receber e conhecer a Reka, o Andreu e a Flora.
Recomendamos este casal para vossas casas.
As nossas cadelas bebes também tem saudades da Flora.
Estamos sempre a vossa disposição.
Cumprimentos da Madeira - Jorge e Paula
The house was in very good condition, cleaned twice, new towels in 1week.
The hosts were excellent.Minimal English but made up for that with kindness. Provided us with home grown fruit, evening meal, 2 lots of Maderia and biscuits, transfer from the airport. Our only criticism was the orientation of the balcony, we lost the sun very early.
Would definitely recommend
Very Nice Property and WONDERFUL Owners
Just returned from a trip to Madeira Island, our first time there. We stayed in this lovely rental property for the first half of our trip and then moved to the southwest side of the island. We were very happy to have stayed in Machico and especially this beautiful apartment. It is very high up on the cliff and provides an awesome view during the day and at night as well. The deck is splendid and although it was chilly during our visit, we still took many pictures from the deck but enjoyed the inside more. The bed was wonderful (my husband has a bad back and so this is important to us). The colors throughout the different rooms were cheerful and tastefully done. The closets in the bedroom were large which helped us with our belongings. Fresh flowers in the bedroom and kitchen were such a nice touch!! (Thank you, Paula!) We really like the use of stone and tile throughout the apartment on the walls and floors. Everything we needed was provided in the kitchen, even some food to get us started which was a nice treat.
Jorge and Paula were warm and friendly and made us feel right at home from the minute we got there. We loved their two little dogs who greeted us when we would go to our car in the morning. Jorge answered all of our questions and we were so privileged to eat breakfast with them on our last morning.
I would recommend this home for anyone who would like to "live like a local!" It is also a great location for going to Sao Lourenco which we highly recommend! It is also a short drive from the airport and not too far from Funchal either.
Thank you Jorge and Paula for a wonderful place to stay. Your island is amazing, full of beauty and wonderful people.
A wonderful place to stay
We arrived on the island late at night rather than early evening, due to an Easyjet diversion to Portugal to fix some dodgy hydraulics(!), but Jorge and Paula came and picked us up from the airport and made us feel very welcome. When we got to the appartment there was fresh bread and home-made soup which was exactly what we wanted. There was also a well-stocked wine rack with prices on the bottles (the same as the local supermarket) that we just kept a note of and paid at the end, which we thought was a really good idea.
The appartment itself is very comfortable for 2 people and the view from the balcony is brilliant. We also hired a car from Jorge as it was quite important for us to see as much of the island as possible. All the roads are very steep and it can take quite a while to get anywhere but it's very scenic and worth the effort. We did a spectacular walk from Pico Alteo to the top of Pico Ruivo, the highest mountain on the island, using a route carved out of the rocks, with steps and tunnels in some parts. It's worth taking a torch for the tunnels but apart from that it's accessible to anyone and the round trip takes 5 to 6 hours.
Jorge offered to take us on his boat but we prefer walking so we declined. Jorge and Paula are perfect hosts and I would highly recommend this property if you are thinking of staying in Madeira.

We also enjoyed the recever and you know.
Whenever they wish and can, as your friends or family, also do the same reception and welcome.
All the best to you and thanks for your comment.
Greetings from Madeira

Casa da Adega – a place to remember
When we booked our vacation, we took our decision partly based on the previous comments, so when we arrived, we were glad to see that the apartment fitted the descriptions exactly: the great view over the mountains and the city of Machico, the quiet of the place, and also, the tight curve to the parking lot, which requires some precision, and preferably a small car…
Jorge, Paula, and their daughter Rita made us feel immediately very welcome. They invited us for a meal, and even a boat trip along the Funchal coast, which we really appreciated. Jorge made us discover a delicious fruit we had never tasted before, the ‘anona’ – by the way Jorge, those that we brought back home were just ripe when we arrived. Thanks!
The apartment itself had all the required amenities for a good holiday away from the February cold, and is well situated, within easy driving distance of Funchal and virtually all the island. Although it is only a few minutes’ drive from the airport, there is no traffic noise at all.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Madeira, and will definitely pay another visit to Casa da Adega if we return to the island. Thanks Jorge, Paula, and Rita for your kindness, and for a wonderful holiday.
First time in Madeira - We loved it
We had a wonderful time staying at this pleasant appartment which has superb views of Machico and surrounding hills.
We were made very welcome by Jorge and Paula throughout the stay and we were introduced to their friends. This included a meal with Paula, Jorge and friends and a trip on the family boat.
They were very helpful, ensuring that we got to and from the airport safely. The appartment was comfortable and had all facilities we needed.
We met their friend Lily who runs an excellent local restaurant which we highly recommend.
We highly recommend this appartment for a holiday, particularly given the welcome you will receive from Jorge and Paula.
As the roads in Madeira, including the road to the appartment, are steep with tight corners, we suggest you hire a small car if driving in Madeira. That said we really benefitted from having a car to explore this picturesque island.
Plenty to do, including swimming in the sea from Machico beach, exploring the mountains and valleys of the interior, taking a boat trip to Porto Santo with it's beautiful beach.
We went whale and dolphin watching from Funchal. If interested we recommend you use the company Rota des Cetaceaus - We sore pilot whales and bottle nosed dolphins close up. Good idea to take an under water camera.
Thanks again to Jorge and Paula for a wonderful holiday.
