Three hundred year old house situated on the edge of Antibes Old Town. A corner property painted in typical Provencal palette of yellow exterior with blue shutters, arranged over three floors with a roof terrace. The house has been completely renovated using original timbers and revealing interior stone walls. It is open plan with a large room on each floor linked by a wooden staircase plus a roof terrace which is accessed by stairs from the top floor. From this terrace there are views over the roof tops to the distant mountains. The light and comfortable living room is on the top floor with a sofa, a dining table for four and a hand-built kitchen which is well-equipped for cooking and eating at home if you choose. A spacious bedroom is on the middle floor with a huge armoire for storage. The ground floor contains a small sitting room with a sofa bed so there is space to accommodate a further two people. NB as the house is open plan they need to be family or very good friends! There is a bathroom on the ground floor (not open plan!) which is being updated for the 2016 season with a walk in shower. Also on this floor is a washing machine.

The house is delightful having the traditional feel of ancient timbers and thick stone walls but as it has been entirely renovated it has a spacious and open interior and is particularly light on the upper floors. You can enjoy a drink on the terrace looking out across the rooftops at the swooping swallows or dine under the stars. Stepping outside the front door in the immediate vicinity are many amenities - food shops, a theatre, cinema, bus station, the main town square of Place de Gaulle and numerous restaurants, cafes and bars.

We have absolutely loved staying in this beautiful, rustic little house. It had been very sympathetically restored to a high standard and quality. The rooms are spacious for two people and the roof terrace is totally private. Antibes is such a lovely place and everyone is so friendly and welcoming. We visited Monte Carlo and Cannes also which are both extremely easy to get to by train. Overall the whole holiday was perfect....would highly recommend this lovely house especially if you love very clean, high quality, rustic charm.

The roof terrace is small but adequate to comfortably sit 4 adults.

Nice house, great location

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is nicely furnished with an interesting layout. Arrangements were easy. The location was perfect: a short walk to the train station, and close to some good restaurants on Rue Sade.

What a wonderful house!

It was while perusing listings on HomeAway for a place to stay in the South of France that we came across the photo for this house. It was actually the house that made us choose Antibes, and both were perfect. The house is cosy, lovingly restored and decorated, well equipped, and in a great location. The old town is idyllic with plenty of restaurants, shops, markets, the beach, and I could spend everyday in the food market. We did a few day trips, and the train and bus stations are an easy walk from the house. Owner and manager were both wonderfully responsive.

Charm, Comfort and location

We stayed at this charming house in mid April and can’t wait to return. Susan was quick to respond to any questions, share information, and made everything easy for us. Our two adult daughters stayed with us (small fee for linens) and all had plenty of room. The house was very clean, well-organized, an nicely decorated. The kitchen area on the 3rd floor is well equipped and has a nice comfortable area to relax at the end of the day and play cards or read (plenty of books to choose from too). The rooftop is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine and “tapas”. We found the beds extremely comfortable and loved the fluffy European comforters. Antibes is loaded with shops, bakeries, cafes, art, a wonderful farmers market (every day except Mondays) and you can walk to the marina and beach in about 10 minutes. The house is convenient to the train station, bus station and ATM teller. It’s a wonderful location.

Our favorites in Antibes: The Almond croissants at the bakeries, the morning farmers market, the art studios near the marina, late afternoon wine at the outdoor cafes.

Chez Helen - for Le grain de folie (truly amazing salad – get the large- trust me, it’s worth it)

Bacon – a fancy restaurant on the Cap d’Antibes– if you can splurge for lunch, this was a remarkable memorable meal and view. We took an uber there and walked back along the coast where master artist prints of paintings were occasionally mounted where they must have stood to paint the view of Antibes.

On Rue de Ferson:. La Taille de Guêpe is a restaurant that decorates with edible flowers and has wonderful reviews but make a reservation - they book up fast.

The house is situated on the edge of the Old Town and close to the many delights of Antibes. The town is made up of lovely winding streets and alleys, traditional Provencal buildings and a multitude of charming restaurants and shops. A five minute stroll will take you to the sea in one direction or the daily Provencal Market in the other. The Picasso Musem, medieval ramparts and Port Vauban, home to the largest yachts in Europe, are all within a ten minute walk. Equally near by are three beaches, all free, for swimming, wind surfing or sailing. Cap d'Antibes and Juan les Pins are within walking distance or reached by local bus. With Antibes railway station also just a short walk away you can take a train ride along the glorious Cote d'Azur, west to Cannes or east to Nice, Monte Carlo and Italy . Should you hire a car there is the lovely hinterland with the pretty perched villages in the hills behind Antibes to explore and then enjoy the dramatic landscape and outstanding views back towards the Mediterranean. For those interested in art there are the homes and art galleries showcasing the many artists attracted to the south of France over the years by the climate and the extraordinary quality of the light.
