Via dell’Alloro is a quiet street in the heart of Florence, just a few steps from Piazza del Duomo and walking distance from Santa Maria Novella Train Station. It is the perfect base for a day trip to Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Bologna. Even Rome, Venice and Milan are just a couple of hours away thanks to the high speed train that stops in Santa Maria Novella Train Station.
Within walking distance from the apartment you can find all the major sites and piazzas: the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, Giotto’s campanile (bell tower), Piazza della Signoria, Piazza Santo Spirito, Piazza Santa Croce, San Lorenzo Market, and others. You can visit magnificent shops (the Richard Ginori shop, a porcelain brand renowned all over the world, is just two steps from home) and walk the very same streets as the most important Renaissance artists: Dante, Leonardo da Vinci, Brunelleschi, Michelangelo… Giotto himself lived on Via dell’Alloro as we said!
And don’t pass up a visit to the church of San Miniato al Monte and the breathtaking views from Piazzale Michelangelo! You can begin your “climb” at Piazza Ferrucci
Nearby Principio you can find plenty of food stores, gelaterias, bakeries, and other shops where you can buy all the delicacies you need for a delicious dinner at home. Or if you prefer, you can take a stroll to one of the many typical Tuscan or international restaurants nearby. Plus, there are so many terrace bars with a view where you can grab a cocktail before dinner that you won’t know which one to choose... you will love them all and we'll be happy to show them to you at your arrival!
