Sayulita is your destination for relaxing and enjoying Mexico’s rich cultural and natural beauty, and the house and casitas of Casa Higuera provide the perfect accommodation to enjoy Sayulita’s window into Mexican village life in a spectacular coastal setting.
What sets Casa Higuera and Casa Sofia apart is its beachfront location, gorgeous ocean views, spacious and attractive design, and exclusive location on Sayulita’s best hill overlooking Sayulita Bay just steps away from both beach and village.
The self-contained casitas at Casa Higuera each offer a private entrance, spacious patio terraces overlooking the ocean, full kitchen, bedroom with a king-sized bed, living area with a couch that doubles as a twin bed to accommodate an additional child or adult, patio-dining under a traditional palapa roof, private bath, and plenty of closet space. You don't have to get out of bed to see the ocean!
Casa Higuera contains two private bedroom/bathroom suites (one king-size and one queen-size), additional half bath, full-sized kitchen, indoor dining area, living room, huge terrace with outdoor dining and living areas, and shaded tropical garden courtyard under a huge 100-year-old Higuera tree.
Casa Sofia is a two story house, with three bedrooms and three baths and virtually the same stunning views as Casa Higuera. The top floor has a bedroom with a king-sized bed, a full bathroom, a huge fully equipped kitchen, a dining room, a living room and a large patio. The downstairs has two bedrooms with king-sized beds, two full bathrooms, kitchenette/living/dining room and a large patio also with ocean views. The house is quite large (2500 square feet) and is ideal for living together but also having separate space.
Our houses and casitas are built with traditional and contemporary Mexican architectural design elements – including palapas, Spanish arches, and hand-painted Mexican Talavera tile. They are attractively decorated with Mexican arts and crafts, and contain a small collection of novels and books about Mexico.
Our accommodations are surrounded by tropical lushness and offer an additional common area to sit and relax around our private, landscaped hill that meanders right down to the beach. Daily maid service is provided.
Getting here: It couldn't be easier. Fly into the Puerto Vallarta airport on the carrier of your choice, grab a cab, and 30 minutes later you will be ready for a day at the beach. There is no need to rent a car as everything you will want is just steps away.

Casa Higuera proved to exceed my high expectations, which were based on consistently positive traveller reviews. The location is well appointed both in proximity to the beach (91 steps from Casita 3) and town (2 minutes). The sound of crashing waves kept us sleeping all eve and calm in our spirit for the two week stay. We went with our 9 year-old as a first trip to Mexico and Casa Higuera facilitated a safe, luxury (pool, landscape, cleanliness, view) and environmental (birdsong, geckos, iguana and interesting insect sightings) spectacular. The kitchen was well equipped for meal-making and the filtered water was replenished in a timely manner. In truth, we had a few tears when it was time to go. We would return in a heartbeat.
My second visit back to the Casa Higuera/Sofia property and loved it just as much. The first time was spent in the 3 bedroom casa, and this most recent was one of the casitas. The same, sensitive, interesting decor and layout, very comfortable and with beautiful views out past palm trees to the ocean. Very quiet and secluded, even from other guests staying on the property. Aaron & Marya - thank you for having created such a beautiful place to stay when in Sayulita.
My husband and I just spent a week at Casa Sofia with our 3 children: ages, 20, 18, and 11. What an amazing place!
The villas and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Better than the pictures even. Probably the best part were the 2 patios at our place. We could sit out there all day and night. So relaxing with spectacular views. Walk down the steps to the beach and down the back path to town. No need for a car. The town is charming and every meal we ate was excellent. This would be a great rental for 3 couples as well. Aaron the owner was so nice and helpful, as was his staff. All I can say is, this place is breathtaking! So glad we found it.
We spent a week in Casa Higuera with our two children. The views are incredible and the house is beautifully furnished. The location is amazing too. Direct access on to the beach and one minute into town. No need for a car. The pool is a real bonus too. No need to leave the property some days. It was super clean and the gardens are beautifully maintained too. The staff and owners are great. We can't wait to go back.
These villas all have extraordinary views. We were tempted to stay on our balconeys the entire time. The staff did nice job of keeping our place clean and were very accommodating when we lingered.
Sayulita is a delightful village just down from the casitas. Easy to walk into town or on the beach. Nice restaurants and fun night life.
One caution: many in our group came down with turista. We think this was from one of the restaurants, so pick your food choices well. The casitas have bottled water which the staff keeps stocked, so cooking in the casitas is safe.
We stayed at Casa Sofia for a week away from it all (including our children!). It was such a wonderful place to spend time. The house is well furnished and affords a commanding view of the bay. We spent many an hour lying out in the shade of the veranda on lounge chairs, listening to the surf and reading. It's easy walking distance from downtown, which is chock full of amazing restaurants, and the beach, which has beautiful sand, many lounge chairs and warm water. The pool is beautiful and refreshing as well, halfway down the stairs on the way to the beach. We can't recommend it enough. The owners are easy to talk with and very helpful, as is the staff on property. One surprise was the variety of activities offered in the town. We'll definitely be back!
