very nice villa with a fantastic pool, had a amazing 2 weeks, but please do not pay a bond, because you will not get it back
This is an excellent selection for a good family holiday. Masses of room really big pool & pool area. Kitchen has all the appliances cutlery plates glasses in fact a lot more than you will need. Portuguese beer on tap just tell Alfredo whether you want a 50litre or 30lt barrel (we had both)works out at just over £1:40/pint depending on exchange rate of course. If you run out ring Alfredo and within minutes will be there with a new barrel obviously during the day that is.
The only down side was the aircon or lack of it, main bedroom one was broken and the only other room with aircon was the upstairs annex which did work. But if you get hot you've got a really big pool to jump into.
I/ the whole family 6adults & 2 children (8 &7) would certainly go back again.
Best to hire a car though for ease.
We stayed at Vila Ana for the last week of July 2016. We arrived early (1200) and dropped our luggage off and witnessed an army of "cleaners" doing a grand job of preparing the property for our stay. When we arrived Back at 1600 hrs we were shown around by the owners son who explained everything we needed to know. The Vila was bigger than expected and the outside area is huge. The pool is huge and our party of 12 spent the majority of our week around it. It's very quiet and a big Supermarket is about 10 minutes away in Tavira for all shopping needs. We did hire a car but you could get Taxis (Gilberto) if you just wanted to do the shopping . We all enjoyed our stay at Vila Ana and would highly recommend to anyone who was thinking of booking it. Marvellous 👍
We booked it from the HomeAway site, it was then taken from the site and we had to deal direct with the owner. This is not ideal, even the address information and GPS coordinates we were given were incorrect.
The villa is lovely, and we had a very good time there. We should not complain to much about the little niggles, but aside from the horrible booking process there were some.
Almost everything you need is provided, but there were no cloths for washing up / cleaning the kitchen, or cleaning fluids.
The poolside bathrooms contain showers, but neither the male shower, nor the female shower were working, not a great problem as there are plenty of others.
In the separate apartment we had a plumbing problem, which was quickly fixed, but to get to the owner I had to go through the agents - who were distinctly unhappy (as they had been de-appointed) - but did the job, so a big thank you to them.
I stayed at Vila Anna for one week at the start of September. I couldn't be happier with our stay, it was so lovely! I went with my family which included mom dad, brother, sister in law and grand parents. So a range of all ages and it was perfect for all of us. We had a thoroughly chilling out week!!
You will need a car, and the company Jo and Paul recommended were great.
Book without hesitation!
Easy to book and seeing as this was done over a year in advance was always easy to contact Jo for any information. The pictures were great and we really thought it was too good to be true but the villa exceeded our expectations, it is huge and so too the pool, the gardens were beautiful and the wildlife kept the children and the adults entertained on a daily basis. This was a family holiday with 7 adults and 3 children. As we were to arrive late we checked with Jo to see if we could have a provision pack which was there along with Jo and Paul to greet us.We considered hiring a car but we all just wanted a chill out holiday so decided to wait until we got to the villa. We didn't hire in the end as we had everything we needed. The pool was used daily, the taxi that was recommended was too as it's so cheap and the driver, Gilberto, although could speak very little English was a star, you call he was there, we called him to go out for shopping trips and boy did we (the girls of course) shop!. We were able to walk to Fabrica where the children enjoyed the crabs that were abundant and then further out, the beach, which was wonderfully sandy and the sea so warm and clean! Manta Rota is still quite unspoilt offering seaside trinkets but with the warmth of Portuguese hospitality in the restaurants and local shops. Walking or cycling recommended so that you take it all in. Hire a car if you want to go further. We all had a fantastic time and would love to revisit again. Jo and her husband Paul cannot be thanked enough for all their assistance and local knowledge, two very special people who helped make our very special family holiday a holiday to remember! X
Magnificent Villa located 10 minutes from the beach of Fábrica and the award winning Blue Flag Manta Rota beach with its soft sandy beaches. At Manta Rota there are many restaurants, bars and shops including a supermarket, a great butcher and a pharmacy. Also very close is Vila Nova de Cacela where you will find a Municipal Market selling fresh fish and fruit and vegetables every day as well as banks, shops, restuarants, bars, haiardressers, launderette - everything you could need.
We are 8 km from the city of Tavira, where you can find a Hypermarket, shopping mall, cinema, street cafes, souvenir shops, and a very quaint town to explore. There are lots of lovely restaurants in both the new and the old town and the river (Rio Gilao) which runs through Tavira is a lovely place to sit and watch local life.
Altura is at 4 km, where you will find another inviting sandy beach along with several bars and restaurants.
Around 8 km away is Monte Gordo which is the St Tropez of the Eastern Algarve where people go to 'promenade'. It is a lively town with lots of beach front restaurants, street cafes and of course the popular casino. A little further is Vila Real de Santo António which is about 12Km. Here you will find a large municipal market selling fresh vegetables, fish and meat. There is also one of the best Italian restaurants along a cobbled street where they do a lunchtime special at €6.95 which is not to be missed! Details are in the Villa.
The nearest golf course is Quinta de Ria which is virtually at the bottom of the road. It is a lovely course with practise facilities as well as great 19th hole! 10 minutes in the other direction is the prestigious new course of Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus. Although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! It is already ranked in the Top 20 in Europe & Top 100 in the world by Golf Digest USA - the only Portuguese course to achieve this ranking.
The Spainish border is about 15 minutes away if you fancy experiencing a different culture for the day. Tapas bars and good shopping make for a nice day out. If you don't want to drive across the border, you can get a ferry from Vila Real de Santo Antonio - it takes about 5 minutes and takes you directly into Ayamonte.
