We bought this house because of its beautiful location and the outdoor pursuits available close by. I have a sister who lives nearby and we have holidayed in the area for many years and had some great times

What makes this cottage unique

The stunning views of the mountains and their close proximity make it a special place. My husband enjoys cycling and this is an ideal location especially as the Col De Aspin and Col De Tourmalet are literally on the doorstep as is skiing in the winter

What a wonderful cottage for our cycling holiday!

This was our first dip into using the Home Away website to book our accomodation and this experience didnt disappoint. Not only was teh website easy to use but the cottage we chose for our holiday turned out to be superb!

The communications between myself and the owners was first class. Mark was always quick to respond to queries and questions about not only the cottage itself but the surrounding area, giving an insight that was very helpful to us.

The cottage is situated very close to the village of Sainte Marie de Campan and is indeed only a few minutes walk. We were able to get most things (foodwise) from the local shop which was really handy.

The cottage itself is well decorated and in very good condition giving it a very homely feel. It also had all the facilities we needed for our trip including washing machine, tumble drier, TV (with english satellite channels), great shower, working fireplace and several fridges!

As we were on a family holiday looking to explore the Pyrenees and do a bit of cycling, we found the cottage to be perfectly situated. The iconic Tour de France mountain road up The Tourmalet, literally starts yards outside the front door! There were also lots of other superb bike rides all starting from the house. We did sightseeing around the mountains and villages as well and found that the cottage was well placed for this. We especially liked Arrieau and Luchon as places to visit.

Overall, I can thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a great base for visiting the Pyrenees and if you like cycling, even better!

Fantastic gite

We stayed there whilst skiing each day in La Mongie. The gite was spacious, well equiped and warm, what more could we want. I'd highly recommend it, we loved it so much we are going back again next week.

Authentique et dépaysant

Presqu'au pied du pic du midi et à proximité de destinations de ballades en montagne, comme de sites touristiques de renom, ce châlet individuel confortable et de goût propice au repos laisse un très bon souvenir de vacances.

Un merveilleux séjour dans une location tout confort

Un très bon séjour... rien à redire sur la location très bien équipé et d'une grande propreté...un seul point contraignant est l'accès les premières fois sur l'allée en bordure d'une route très passagère lors des congés d'hiver (accès vers La Mongie) ...une fois le coup de main prit en marche arrière ça reste un jeu d'enfant...Une très bonne location et des propriétaires adorables....à recommander ++++

chalet cosy

chalet grand et propre relativement cosy mais l'accès par voie très pentue l'hiver est très difficile, il faudrait avertir les locataires!!! Tout le nécessaire est sur place. Assez bruyant car proche de la route. En revanche, lits préparés à l'arrivée et tout le linge de maison sur place est un vrai plus. Pas de lave vaisselle, dommage!! Bonne propriété en général.

From La Mongie take the cable car to the Observatory at the Pic Du Midi(2877m), where from the summit you can see the entire Pyrenean mountain range and all the plains of South west France. The Pic Du Midi is the only high mountain area accessible by mechanical lift for ski mountaineering, for a descent with a 1500m drop. The Pic has a museum and also offers Celestial evenings and nights at the summit. Going through La Mongie is the Col Du Tourmalet and through Payolle the Col d'Aspin, climbs featured in the Tour De France. The area is hugely popular with both road cyclists and mountain bikers. Payolle in the winter is an area used for cross country and snow shoeing and offers 50km of forest trails round the lake. The area in summer is popular with families, walkers and bikers. Bagneres has the relaxing Aquensis thermal spas,and many good restaurants to try the wonderful regional dishes. There is also Saturday market ,Casino, the Country Club Golf Course with views over the valley, mini golf for the kids, parks, and a swimming pool which opens to the outside in the summer. Other activities include canoeing, parapente, horse riding, mountain biking. Flights to Lourdes all year round approximately 30-40 mins away. Flights also to Toulouse, Biarittz with a 2 hour drive
