Great house in favorite area of Barbados

  • 5 of 5

Very short walk to Bottom Bay beach, this house is in neighborhood of Atlantic Shores - our favorite place to stay in Barbados. One of the better homes here because of large, open living and kitchen area - and of course, the huge back porch and pool. The furniture is all comfy - inside and out - seriously comfortable and big couch, which we appreciated, and large dining in and out. Porch is large corner with plenty of covered area for shade and to hang out towels and clothes to dry, even if raining. The owner was great to communicate with, and even better - the managers she uses are very kind and knowledgeable - on top of what they do. Jan and John take care of a lot of the homes here, we've met them many times renting and know they are always available if need anything. You can easily rent a car to go and do what you like around the island and come back here at night, but still have Bottom Bay beach - the most beautiful and highly rated - just literally a few minutes walk past some quiet houses, then open field with view to Harrison's House, then down long, rock steps to beach. There is rarely more than a few people here. We have stayed at a few houses here - this being better as far as open lay-out, bigger pool, if want locked fence all around (but safe area for sure). Only thing better would be to have it backed off to ocean direction for more of a breeze, but AC's worked great in bedroom. One of the closest in neighborhood to beach, on first side street, dead end. Can walk to 2 other beaches as well. Close restaurant (5 minute drive) at Ragged Point Lighthouse, that was awesome, with incredible views up towards Bathsheba. Or buy food from vendor and pick up necessities at corner shop about a 1 minute drive back to intersection in - or 5 minute walk up hill. I would recommend this for anyone. It was accurate as described and photos. Layout has all 3 bedrooms on one side of house, but still down long hallway, giving more privacy. It was clean. Kitchen had nice oven and stove. I would definitely stay here again.

Holiday at the Pool House

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at The Pool House Villa, St Philip Barbados on the 11th August 2017, with my family for two weeks. The property is true to image clean and spacious. On our arrival to Barbados we were driven to the property by a family member; it took us quite a while to find the place following the direction that was email to me. But after a lengthy tiring journey we reached our destination; where we were met and greeted by the friendly face of Jan the property manager. Seeing we were tired she quickly showed us around the property while explaining what we needed to know, handed over the keys and her phone number; also letting us know her home was nearby and we could contact her at anytime.

I would have to say the highlight of the property for us was the pool. The grandchildren loved it and they would have stayed in it morning 'till night if we let them. We all enjoyed our stay at The Pool House Villa and would be happy to stay there again. I would advise future residents to hire a car especially when travelling with young children; it makes getting around the Island so much easier.

Exceeded expectations

  • 5 of 5

Apologises for posting this late.

We normally book another villa on the same complex but left it too late as it was already booked. We therefore looked at the other available villas and had a wish list of what we wanted and from the description this one ticked all of our boxes.

Booking and paying for the villa was easy and straightforward and Lorraine was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions.

We were met at the villa by Jan and Marcia was just finishing off the cleaning so it was spotless.

Although the other villa we normally stayed at was our first choice we were really happy with choosing The Pool House. It was extremely spacious, clean and comfortable and had all the home comforts you could wish for. The fridge with the ice maker was In constant use which was great and the fan in the living room was an added bonus in the evenings. Free Wi-fi is also included and there are plenty of books and a few games to keep everyone occupied.

We spent a lot of tIme by the pool which is larger than a lot of the other villas and both the pool and the garden was well maintained.

There was a lot of rain when we were there and it came into the bedrooms and although we were more than capable of moping it up we felt we should inform Jan. However within 5 minutes she arrived and called Marcia to mop it all up and arranged for someone to repair it. We also couldn't get the tv to work and although Jan reported it to the cable company immediately this didn't get fixed before we left but this was down to the cable company and not Jan. The reason I'm mentioning this is to show that nothing is too much trouble for the managing agents and they ensure that the villlas and the guests are well looked after. Please be careful when it rains as the raised patio area outside the kitchen area is very slippery.

You will need a car to get around as mentioned in the other reviews to explore Barbados and Bottom Bay beach is truly beautiful and is a few minutes walk.

We would recommend this villa and would definitely return and glad we choose it.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Sharon for taking time to write a fab review. We truly appreciate Guests time to do this as we realise once one leaves Barbados, daily routines elsewhere in the World take over!!! So no need to apologise for the lateness, we are happy that your party were happy with The Pool House. Point taken about the patio being slippery after rainfall. A sign in the patio area can be arranged. Yes, I always mention a car is necessary, just to make it more comfortable to sight see/shop and visit our many different, beautiful beaches. We welcome you back anytime, thank you for looking after the Pool House. Regards, Lorraine

Best Barbados Vacation !!!

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 4 friends staying at the pool house for 6 nights. We all enjoyed how efficient Lorraine was with the booking. The managing team of the house was amazing as well. The location is perfect. Bottom bay is an amazing area and the beach was incredible. The house is spacious and the pool was great. Make sure to ask for a BBQ to enjoy the patio at night. We will definitely return.

Another great stay at The Pool House

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the pool house and it was every bit as fantastic as the first. The villa is fantastic, spacious and airy and really well maintained and furnished. It's a lovely spot to relax but the real star of the show is the fantastic pool. It is in my opinion the best pool in the development having checked out quite a few. It's a perfect villa in a great location on the best side of the island.

Excellent villa for families

  • 5 of 5

I can just confirm feedback from other reviewers - this is really great property and has everything you need, clean, spacious and is perfect choice if you are looking to stay somewhere away from crowds. Very peaceful and comfortable and we - family of 4 (6 years old boy and 8 years old girl) enjoyed our stay very much. Car is very recommended as you would probably like to explore and enjoy other beaches around the island. Bottom Bay beach is only few minutes walk from the villa and you would probably be there alone for most of the time. It's very beautiful beach, but waves are a bit too rough for swimming, so we were rather driving to south-west beaches which are much better for kids, swimming and snorkeling. Swimming pool was big bonus for the kids, as they have had evening swims before going to sleep or jumping in the pool first thing in the morning :-). Also everything was perfect with booking procedure, payment, etc managed by Lorraine as well as Jan and John took great care of us and making sure we have everything we need. Highly recommended - feels like home!

Situated east of the windward isles Barbados is a relatively small coral stone island. Being approximately 26 miles long by 14 miles wide makes everything the island have to offer easily accessible. The Pool House is located on the south eastern coast of the island, on a quiet development called Atlantic Rising and is a short stroll from the breathtaking Bottom Bay beach, said by some to be one of the most picturesque beaches in the world. There are several other stunning beaches and bays within the immediate area including the famous beaches at The Crane and Sam Lords Castle. Harrismith, Palmetto and Long Bay are also stunning beaches which are just a short stroll. The airport is situated approximately 15 minutes away and the capital, Bridgetown (for Duty Free Shopping) , around 30 minutes from the Atlantic Rising developement.

Barbados has warm weather year round with temperatures not usually ever dropping below the mid-70's (27-30 degrees centigrade). The gentle Atlantic breeze on this side of the island means that even on the hottest days the temperatures are comfortable. Anytime of the year is a good time to visit.

With endless miles of white, powdery sand, exotic lush green botanical gardens, a rich colonial history, acres of sugar plantations and the gentle lapping of the Caribbean Sea, Barbados is truly an amazing place for a holiday. Nature lovers will admire the natural beauty on the island whilst food and drink connoisseurs have the option of dinning at some of the best restaurants in the Caribbean. The local speciality, rum, is very cheap on the island, and there are many types – the Four Square distillery is very close by and is great to visit. Rum shacks are everywhere on the island, cheap and very cheerful ! (quite an experience!).

Barbados is an island of FESTIVALS including: the Jazz Festival and wind surfing championships in January, Holetown Festival, Holders season and the Gold Cup in February and March, Gospelfest in May, the famous Crop Over celebrations from July to August, and the surfing championships in November. The hectic West and South coasts are about a 30-minute drive away where the beaches are somewhat calmer but much more crowded. For nightlife, about 15 minutes drive to the popular St Lawrence Gap, and for fresh fish caught that day, the Oistins Fish Fry is a hit with both tourists and locals alike.

WEDDINGS are very popular on this beautiful island and Bottom Bay beach has become quite 'the place' to have your own personalised wedding ceremony.
