Charming 2BD Cottage In Historic Hollywood Near All Sights, Restaurants & More

Welcome to The Rosewood! Originally built to house visiting Movie Stars back in the Golden Age of Hollywood: We are Centrally Located in Historic Mid-Wilshire next to Paramount Pictures, Hollywood, Larchmont Village, Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Koreatown, Downtown and 10 mins to Universal Studios, Beverly Hills, The Grove and Museum Row!

Although we have kept a lot of the house's history in tact, it is fully refurbished and modernized with all amenities and luxuries you could hope for. When looking for places in LA, Air Conditioning and Private Parking are not standard - but The Rosewood offers you both! There is a private driveway for up to 3 cars (Cadillacs optional). Further upgrades include: a brand new bathroom, so that you can get ready for those big nights out, and a remodeled kitchen with marble surfaces and stainless steel appliances, so that you can prepare a gourmet meal with fresh ingredients from the local Farmer's Market!

Also available are a coffee maker and toaster, iron and ironing board, dryer, hair and beauty products, HD Smart TV with Netflix, Hulu & Cable (200+ channels), Fireplace (to muse over a good book in front of), High-Speed Wi-Fi, BBQ Grill... everything to make your stay in this historic LA neighborhood as comfortable as possible.

The Master Bedroom (The Hollywood Room) is decorated in a luxurious 'Golden Age of Hollywood' style and equipped with a queen-sized bed with pillow top mattress, vanity desk, full-size mirror and closet. The second bedroom (The Hepburn Room) is decorated in the style of 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' and will provide you with another queen-sized bed and closet. Outdoors you will find a private backyard garden to relax in, surrounded by palm trees, succulents and orange and lime trees. The perfect spot to entertain and fire up the BBQ or enjoy a cocktail or 3 ;)

We are happy to provide you with as much or as little interaction as you desire. We can welcome you when you arrive and give you a 'tour' of the property and the key, or we can leave the key for you in a lock box so that you can let yourself in and out as you please (most people prefer this option). Either way we will help you with anything you require, and then respect your privacy. Please text or call us with any concern, question, suggestion, gossip, or celebrity sightings as required :)

Long before Beverly Hills was 'Beverly Hills', there was Mid-Wilshire, one of the oldest, most affluent, architecturally well-preserved and star-studded neighborhoods in Los Angeles. 'The Rosewood' cottage was originally built to house visiting movie stars back in the Golden Age of Hollywood, though the real stars here are the centuries old Californian palm trees that line the streets of Mid-Wilshire and have become an LA staple!

The neighborhood features prominently in TV shows like 'Private Practice' and 'Castle' and tons of movies. The studios are constantly filming around the neighborhood, so if you want to catch real production in action you're in for a treat. We are big foodies and love the restaurants around here but don’t take our word for it- even celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain testifies to all of its amazing places to eat, drink, and hang out in our neighborhood!

The cottage's location could not be more convenient for anyone needing to get around Los Angeles. Walk West and you’re in Larchmont, one of LA's most serene, quintessentially home-bound neighborhoods. It's a 15 min walk to Larchmont Village, LA's version of Main Street USA. Don't miss the Sunday farmer's market to see celebrities buying organic veggies and gourmet cheeses (mmmm!)

Walk one or two blocks East and you are in Koreatown, home to the best Korean BBQ in the world (seriously, it's better than in Korea according to Koreans)! The nearby Koreatown bars will blow you away. Our favorite bar, 'Blipsy's Barcade', has cheap drinks, 25-cent 80s arcade games, and an unmatched jukebox. It's empty before 10, and after it fills with supercool 20-somethings. Also check out 'The Copper Still', a more upscale intimate bar with specialty artesian cocktails concocted with care unlike anywhere else in the city.

It's just 15 mins to Silverlake and Echo Park, AKA Hipsterville central, filled with boutique stores, organic restaurants, and some of the best undiscovered music in the country. It's also an easy 10 mins drive to the Sunset Strip, where you can throw back shots next to celebs and wannabes at the Chateau Marmont. It's about 10 mins to Downtown, packed with museums, historic architecture, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, some of the best art galleries in America, and a never-ending rotation of new gourmet restaurants. Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive are 10 mins away if you're credit card can stand the trip... and if it can, well we are quite jealous! For those planning more of a day-trip, It's 30 mins to the beach, 90 mins to the desert, and 90 mins to the mountains. Yes, you can ski, hike, and swim all in one day. LA is the best! :)

So come and stay at The Rosewood - soak up the amazing history, be charmed by the cottage's character, and be dazzled by a touch of magic that hangs in the air...

With Uber & Lyft it is no longer necessary to have a car in LA, though it is a spread out city, so you will most likely get into at least 1 car during your time here. Like the immortal movie 'Clueless' noted, "Everywhere in LA takes twenty minutes!"

If you don't have a car, don't fret. Contrary to popular belief, LA has a very comprehensive, reliable, and safe bus system. There is good transit around us with 9 nearby bus routes as well as Vermont/Beverly Metro Station (Red Line) in walking distance.

great comfortable property

  • 4 of 5

This was a great house. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had most of what you would need and check in and out were a breeze. The neighborhood is not really walkable (but it's LA and only a few pockets are), but you are a short drive or Lyft away from wherever you want to go. Good for two couples, a few friends, or a family with 1-2 kids.

Quaint, cute bungalow in a central location.

  • 5 of 5

This historic cottage in Hollywood is positioned in a prime location. When researching VRBOs in the area, I was looking for some place where it was easy to get to and from without a lot of trouble. This cottage is close to Koreatown, Hollywood, Sunset Blvd and a straight shot away from Downtown Los Angeles. The Farmer's Market and the Grove are about 15 minutes away and everything else a visitor might want is nearby.

Laura, the owner, is affable and personable. She is always within easy reach of a text and the property is stocked with the basics. At the time of my stay, Amazon Prime Now (both groceries and restaurants) deliver to the area so if you don’t want to go hunting for a grocery store (although there are a few nearby) or go out for the night, you can get groceries and take out delivered to you. The takeout selection on Prime Now is quite varied with over 150 choices. Going out is amazing because the area is rich with fantastic restaurants, pubs and bars just a few blocks away and Downtown is very nearby so if you like nightclubs or going to a concert, it's a quick LYFT ride over and back.

The neighbourhood itself is rather quiet at night. Set in a typical residential Los Angeles neighbourhood, the cottage comes with parking, a rare thing for some VRBOs. While narrow, the driveway CAN accommodate the width of a 1979 Pontiac Firebird so can easily host a variety of vehicles. Should you not drive, UBER and LYFT drivers are numerous in the area and a great, cheap option should you want to leave your car behind for a night on the town. Pick ups ranged from 1-3 minutes.

As for the cottage itself, it is spacious and comfortable. A variety of in-house entertainment is provided; television with hosted channels like Netflix as well as board games. The décor is very casual Los Angeles and the house is a delight with a long front room, fantastically functional kitchen and two very comfortable bedrooms. Everything was extremely neat and clean when we arrived.

I would highly recommend The Rosewood as a very reasonably priced, centrally located place to stay while visiting Los Angeles. We had a great time and the owner’s care and concern for our comfort was fantastic.

Great little home!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at The Rosewood for a few days in November, it was great. The house was very clean and decorated exactly as the photos depicted. The location is central to all amenities, and is a short drive to almost anywhere in LA. The backyard is secluded and very private, with a small BBQ. We did notice a tiny bit of a smell, but that was remedied quickly with some candles.

We didn't actually meet the owner but she was quick to answer questions we had on arrival. She has a booklet of recommended stops around LA which were excellent: early morning hike at Runyon Canyon, a day trip to Venice and along the coast to Malibu, breakfast at Larchmont Village, among many others. The Getty Center is a must; just a short drive from The Rosewood, you can spend the day seeing some of the worlds best art exhibits, walk the amazing gardens, and enjoy the best views of the city. One of the most impressive parts of The Getty is the admission is free.

Overall a great place to stay. Would definitely recommend.
