We have stayed at Eugene's Cottage for 3/4 weeks for the last 14 years, and we will be staying again for 4 weeks this year. We are so comfortable at Eugene's it's like Home form Home.

Is this review biased towards Eugene's, "Yes" a very big yes.

The Cottage is delightful and is just as described in the advertising. It is situated in a beautiful area of Kerry in an ideal location to explore The Ring of Kerry, Dingle and the Beara Peninsula. Kenmare the bustling market town is a 20 minute drive away with its array of restaurants to suit all tastes, and a multitude of shops and convenience stores, our favourite restaurant being the "Lime Tree" in Shelbourne Street.

The Blackwater Tavern is 1/2 a mile up the road from the cottage and has a well stocked shop, fuel pumps, post office and large bar with live music some evenings, well worth a visit. There is so much going on in the area that you are spoilt for choice.

The cottage is very well equipped and maintained. Over the years we have become very close to Michael Harrington and his family who have always gone out of there way to make our holiday at Eugene's Cottage special, nothing is too much trouble for them.

I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a quiet stress free holiday. We always take our dog with us and he loves the wide open spaces and numerous walks in the area.

Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at many cottages throughout Ireland and the UK and this setting and cottage is the best we have chosen by a long shot for our needs (Peace, quiet yet close enough to amenities and freedom for our springer spaniel to explore!). If you are a small family/couple look no further! The owners were extremely helpful throughout booking process and during our stay.

Definitely will return here.

Glorious Stay!

  • 5 of 5

There are so many wonderful things to say about our stay at Eugene's Cottage. We picked this place because it was fairly centrally located within the Ring of Kerry and because we wanted privacy from other holiday goers. The Ring of Kerry is a very popular vacation destination.

The cottage was very accommodating to our small family of four - two adults and two boys (4 and 5). We enjoyed having a fire in the fire place morning and night and we enjoyed little hikes down to the Blackwater river. The kitchen had all the essentials to cook a nice breakfast, or a simple dinner. The rooms were lovely and comfortable. It was easy to find the cottage and the owners are top notch! Very friendly and helpful - they were so kind upon our arrival with fresh scones and Irish butter, yummmmmy! There is a very small grocery store at the top of the hill for essential items if need be. However, there is a big Tesco's (grocery store) in Kilarney.

We enjoyed lots of adventuring to the many places within the Ring of Kerry. To name a few:

Eco Tours and Blasket Island (Dingle Bay).

Skellig Micheal and Cliffs of Kerry (Portmagee).

The Coachman's Pub in Kenmare for food and live music (any eatery on Henry's Street in Kenmare is worth a try).

Drumquinna Stables for horseback riding (not far at all from the cottage)

Muckross Park on the way out of Kilarney was an amazing day for all the family. Within the park we went to the Traditional Farm and the boys really enjoyed that.

Ross Castle in Kilarney.

Hiking at Torc Waterfall.

We enjoyed a lovely meal at The Strawberry Field pancake house.

There's lots to do within the area - too much actually. Enjoy your time and in our humble opinion, Eugene's Cottage is the place to stay; especially if you're looking for a quiet and comfortable stay away from the buzz of other vacationers! Five Stars!
