Poseidon House is an exclusive, private and stunning villa with a unique natural rock swimming pool, close to the northern most Tip of Borneo. It is set in over 3 acres of private and beautiful tropical gardens next to a secluded white-sandy beach. The house stands on a 26 meter high rock outcrop with outstanding panoramic views of the Tun Mustapha Marine Park, which has 35 offshore islands, coral atolls and crescent beaches. Poseidon House gives a true feeling that you are living in tropical Borneo with bejewelled butterflies, exotic birds, colourful insects, mischievous squirrels and all sorts of tropical flora. The house is the epitome of pure relaxation all in one hideaway with no urban pollution or noise to disturb you. It is tropical Borneo at its very best.
The house itself is spacious, bright and airy, fully air conditioned with ceiling fans, and panoramic decks. Rooms have large, glass windows to make the most of the views out to sea. There’s a large open plan and fully-equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge with satellite TV and surround sound stereo. The main feature is the great outdoor deck area with tables and chairs, sun loungers and barbecue. There’s also a lovely shady swimming pool pavilion for quiet reflection, reading or a quiet drink. At night, the pavilion can be turned into a tropical sleep experience, with the warm sea breeze and its’ waves gentle lapping on the beach below, lulling one to sleep, a feeling of tranquillity and peace abound. The 40 foot long natural rock swimming pool is the only one of its kind in Malaysia. With its infinity edge, it serves to cool guests after a long day of beach activities or local shopping.
The tropical garden stretches down to the secluded mile long beach 80 feet below the house. Follow the flower lined winding path downwards and you will find the house is next to one of the most diverse coral reef ecosystems in the world! With beautiful and pristine white sand, your only companions will be local fishermen casting their nets into the azure blue waters as generations before them did. You can stroll along the beach or perhaps jog to the end of the mile long bay or just slip on your fins, snorkel and mask and swim to the stunning coral reef (snorkel equipment not provided). Simply snorkelling will reveal a bewildering array of dazzling tropical fish, the occasional lobster and marine life as you would see in any diving magazine.

We had an amazing two weeks at Poseidon house. Before we got there Ray and Fran were really helpful answering our questions and advising us on planning our trip.
Whilst we were there they answered any questions we had quickly by email.
The house is beautiful and confortable with everything we could need. The pool was incredible, as were the views.
There were lovely places close buy and everyone was really friendly.
The highlight for us was the reef on our doorstep. We spent most days swimming there and saw loads of amazing fish, coral and even a turtle.
It was such a relaxing trip and I would recommend it to anyone. Our kids are 6 and 9 and they loved it too
Staying the Poseidon house for three days was the most leisure and free time in our Sabah holiday. The house would definitely enrich your imagination for a private villa which is absolutely quite only with some natural sound from bird, sea wave and puppies. The three dogs are adorable and very close to the guest, I think maybe the owner has taught them to protect guests so they always follow you and being around especially when you go down to the beach. The villa build on two huge stones and also maintain the original shape of the stone so you can see the edge is still in the bedrooms. It's been well designed with very art atmosphere by artificial antique and paintings in each room. I loved backstroke in the pool at the night with stars above. The villa was fully equipped so you just need to bring some food to there. The only inconvenient of the villa is the steep slope from the main gate to the house, every time we felt very nervous to drive and almost slipped down once. Overall it's out of our imagination with such beautiful house, sea, pool and dog. It's worth to drive 3 hours from KK and remember to bring enough food when you come.
There are just not enough words to describe how amazing the House, its Location, the Area and the hospitality from Fran and Ann are!
We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks at Poseidon House - its a shame it was only two weeks because we could have stayed quite happily for a lot longer!
Upon arrival we found the house spotlessly clean (which was maintained throughout our stay by Fran and Ann), the pictures on the website are only a taster of what awaits you here - the house is massive and the rooms beautiful, but, if, like us, you have good weather most of the time you'll want to be outside enjoying the views from all the balconies - over the deep blue sea or over the unspoilt jungle - or cooling off in the lovely pool! Outstanding! The service from Fran & Ann throughout our stay was top quality - from cooking, cleaning, washing, and giving needed direction and information.
Swimming or Kayaking in the sea is great fun - and with coral so close to the shore meant that Snorkling was really good - even though Fran kept saying it was too cloudy! :)
During our stay we used the vehicle (don't be worried about driving on these roads - its a joy not to be worried about traffic jams, road rage, fuel costs!) and visited the Tip of Borneo, Honey Farm, Dong Factory, Mt Kinabalu, Tea Plantation etc and also travelled through the island around to Sandakan - and although its a long way (took around 7 hours) - I would highly recommend it as it allows you to see more beautiful scenery, wildlife and experience the traditional rural villages.
If you're still planning your trip to Borneo - I would also highly recommend timing your start / end to coincide with flying to / from Kudat airstrip (5 mins from the house) - the plane is only small - but we did this and it was absolutely amazing and so much fun - an aerial view of Borneo for around 20GBP!
We would definitely recommend this house - and would definitely look at returning at some future point.
After a 7 week world wide teaching venture this Villa was just what I needed. Totally stunning. The Hospitality team Fran and Ann offer better service than any 5 star hotel I have ever stayed in. They provided quality food and most important information and support during my visit. The place is massive and clean and so peaceful. The private beach provides a relaxing haven. The Tip of Borneo and the local shopping trip offers a great day out . The local shopping markets are a must to buy local quality food and meet with the friendly locals. Poseidon House is so peaceful. For those wanting total relax, sunshine, great pool and facilities then look no where else, this is the place. I would recommend it for families, groups and even Individuals looking for that something a bit special.
We spent a week in Poseidon house with our 3 children (11, 8 and 5 years old). The welcome by the team on site is very friendly and efficient. The house is lovely and very well equipped. The rooms are large and all equipped with air conditioning and also ceiling fans. The pool is very nice and we play well with children!
The situation of the house is incredible, in the heart of the jungle and the sea with great views!
Kayaks are diposition and we sailed together, it was great, we saw flying fish and a stingray.
Another day we do snorkling down the house and saw beautiful corals and fish in green belt.
We loved this place because the house is really comfortable and the area is very beautiful, wild and very welcoming Malaysian. In the town of Kudat there are very few tourists and friendly people. We ate in restaurants and buy very good fruit and vegetables at the market!
We also visited the area by car very easily as the roads are in very good condition. You just learn to drive on the left (for us French!).
We stayed at the Poseidon house for a week over Christmas with two kids and had a fantastic time. The house is in a truly unique setting, no neighbours, no camp site, no disco, just jungle and passing eagles, hornbills and, on moonless nights, a perfect view of Orion's belt and Saturn. The staff was very nice and access to very cheap freshly fished local seafood grilled to perfection in the evening (along with a few beers) made it a very special holiday. Would definitely go again, especially to write (and sleep). Lovely local people too, perfectly safe.
Borneo is full of adventure. Mountain climbing, pristine rainforests, white water rafting, world class scuba diving…Poseidon House is near the Tip of Borneo, the dramatic confluence of the South China and Sulu sea and an area known as the Coral triangle, which is the most biodiverse ocean region in the world. There is an International Airport in the capital city, Kota Kinabalu, which is a 3 hours’ drive away.
Borneo is a year round destination with temperatures rarely falling below 30 degrees. March - November are generally the optimum months to enjoy the most sunshine as December - February can be variable. However, a day without any sunshine is rare. The Northeast Monsoon occurs from November till January bringing stormy weather and rainfall. From February until April, the weather becomes relatively dry as a result of dry winds coming from the Pacific Ocean. The annual typhoon season that sweeps towards the Philippines does not affect Sabah that is directly below it, giving it the popular name as ‘Land Below the Wind’.
Poseidon House is situated on a beautiful and serene beach on the northern coast of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. It is 7 minutes’ drive from the local airport, 12 minutes’ drive from the golf course and 15 minutes’ drive from the town of Kudat. Stunning, unspoiled, natural beaches abound offering beautiful walks along the quiet and romantic beaches fringed with coconut trees and blue sea. Many local restaurants can be found in Kudat town, from local Chinese, Malay and Indian cuisine to International fare.
Golf: The town of Kudat has a beautiful 18 hole golf course, the oldest in Sabah and once twinned with St Andrew’s in Scotland. Easily accessible and only 12 minutes away from Poseidon House by car, it’s a golfers’ paradise at unbeatable prices.
Other Activities: snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, fishing, jungle trekking, star gazing, cultural and market tours.
Kudat is well known for fresh seafood and local restaurants cook beautiful Chinese, Malay and Indian food. Sea food are plentiful and very reasonable. KFC is the only fast food outlet in town.
Places to visit: The Tip of Borneo, Rungus Long Houses, Sikuati Sunday Market, Gong and Honey Making villages, beaches. There are 35+ off shore islands and atolls, trips can be arranged.
