Situated between two large private estates, Casina di Belvedere is a delightful family holiday villa in the midst of a romantic landscape seemingly unchanged for hundreds of years. A charming 17th century stone and brick farmhouse, or 'casa colonica', La Casina is surrounded by lovely gardens, olive groves and vineyards, in an extremely quiet and private position. The exquisite views from terraces, porches and windows on all sides, offer guests a beautiful and peaceful setting just ten minutes from the delightful walled mediaeval town of Lucignano in Tuscany, one of the most attractive small towns of the Aretine hills and within easy reach of Tuscany's finest treasures in Arezzo, Siena and Florence. Discreetly hidden away and entirely private is a spectacularly beautiful swimming pool, with panoramic views of rolling Tuscan hills stretching as far as the Casentino. For the more active there are some enchanting walks from the property, tennis and great cycling.
We had the most wonderful holiday in this really lovely family home set in the heart of Tuscany.
We flew from Melbourne, Australia, to Rome where we hired a car and travelled north to La Casina; about a 3 hour drive. Here we met up with other members of our European based family.
The house is set in idyllic surroundings of olive groves and vineyards. Even with the house full, there was plenty of space for us all. It is comfortable, clean and has excellent facilities. The immaculately clean swimming pool is a real treat; whether for a lazy dip to cool off after lounging around pool side, or for a refreshing swim after returning from a day of sightseeing, it is heaven.
It is only a ten minute drive to Lucignano ; we enjoyed strolling around this very pretty walled town and made several return trips to visit “Gelataria Snoopy”. We also enjoyed a special evening out dining at Ristorante Il Goccino. We managed to be seated at a table outside on the balcony where we had the most wonderful views of the local countryside as the sun was setting.
Montepulciano is about a half hour drive away ( we stocked up on Vino Nobile) and Florence and Sienna are a bit further afield, worthy of a day trip.
We can’t wait to go back and highly recommend La Casina di Belvedere to anyone who wants a restful and peaceful holiday in privacy and comfort.
La Casina is set in breathtaking countryside with expansive rural views over neighbouring olive groves and vineyards. Truffle hounds go to work nearby and the local supermarket sells excellent rose for under 3 euros!
The house is glorious. It sleeps 9 in comfort, with modern bathrooms, excellent kitchen, and a choice of terraces whether you are eating breakfast lunch or dinner al fresco. The pool is a step down the garden, and one of the joys of staying here is the old walled town of Lucignano, a few minutes’ drive away. Here can be found all the local facilities of a town which thrives year-round, not just in the tourist season.
For a slightly longer trip, Siena, Florence and Cortona are in easy reach, and you can get the train all the way from Pisa via SMN in Florence to nearby Arezzo. We have not found a better holiday house anywhere.
A beautifully presented family home, comfortable, clean and with good facilities. Minutes from the walled medieval town of Lucignano and an easy drive from other cultural centers but completely private and secluded.
The setting is lovely in lovingly tended gardens. The swimming pool is well situated and a good size. A home away from home and lovely to come back to your after year for the whole family.
In the Val di Chiana near the hill top villages of Lucignano, Monte San Savino and Sinalunga, 30 minutes drive from Montepulciano, home of the Vino Nobile. The towns of Arezzo, Siena and Florence are always worth a day trip and the town of Sansepolcro with unique Piero de la Francesca frescoes.
