There are different bullfighting shows in the arena and some of the most famous bullfighters come here and the gladiator shows will immerse you in the Roman history.

The antique theatre is a unique show, visual and acoustic place. The most important international artists perform here during the summer, you will also see theatre shows, projections of films, etc.

As for culture, the town offers exceptional celebrations such as ferias, the Rencontres d’Arles (a photography festival), the Suds d’Arles and all kinds of street events where every district reveals its charm and implication.

What can we say about the surroundings? There are mind-blowing sites such as the Chateau des Baux de Provence, the Alpilles where hikers will be delighted, the beaches of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and Beauduc (the last wild beach of France) where you will enjoy the sand stretch with privacy and it is a place where surfers find their paradise.

A little further, the Côte Bleue, a marvel where azure and reef mix together, with farniente or hiking available. Let’s not forget the Camargue that hides a luxuriant fauna and a flora, greater flamingos, bulls and wild horses that will guide you in these unique marshy areas.

Quaint apartment in the historic centre of Arles

  • 5 of 5

This is a really unique and interesting property in the historic centre of Arles, just seconds from the Amphetheatre. Fully furnished and minutes from the shops and restaurants.

The apartment was clean, well maintained and we had no problems getting the key.

Thank you for a fantastic stay!

Great location. Terrific owners. Well equipped.

The owner, Manga, was delightful and helpful. She met us at the apartment when we arrived in Arles, which is a wonderful town to visit. Her house is in an ancient part of the city (the whole town is ancient) and it was fun to be in the center of everything. The house was clean and we enjoyed family time in the living room but had separation upstairs when needed. We bought bread and cheese at the local market and had breakfast at the kitchen table. The only thing I would recommend, is to bring your own bath soap, but I found that in Paris as well. Other than that, it was perfect for us. Manga called us a taxi on our last day to take us to the train, and when it didn't arrive, she came and drove us in her car. That was super nice of her. We really didn't know what to expect, but were amazed at all the old Roman ruins in this town. It was built by the Romans 2,000 years ago and there are arenas, museums and tons to see. Try to get there on a Saturday for the market on the main street. Lots of food and clothing vendors. Also, make sure to stop at the tourist center first and buy the pass which gets you into most of the museums and sites without paying more. It was well worth it. Thank you, Manga for being a great hostess.

The best place in southern france.

  • 5 of 5

8 nights in this totally unique stone house. We stayed in both suites, and they were the best accommodation of our 3 week European holiday. The places were very spacious, fully equipped with the latest appliances, comfy couches, cosy patios, and only one block from the 2000 year old amphitheatre.

Arles is a quaint town with lots of neat streets to walk and museums to visit.....and great sidewalk cafe,s in the squares.

We loved the river walk and the market.

Most of all, Manga, our landlady is the best hostess we ever experienced.

She went out of her way to look after us....with transportation and much care and very attentive details.

You will be thankful if you book this place for your Arles experience!!!

Thanks again Manga....you are the best!!!!

Live Like the Locals

  • 4 of 5

Wander the narrow side streets of any small town in Provence and you wonder what's behind the shuttered windows. Spend a few nights here to find out. A very kind and accommodating hostess, Manga puts you at ease in the center of sometimes boisterous Arles. (We were there during the festive Easter weekend bullfights.) Though just two blocks from the Roman arena, you would never know it--the apartment is so peaceful. The furnishings are suitable, parking is very limited and the price is right. Location is everything.

Charming!

  • 5 of 5

When I imagined staying in a quaint little town this place is was what I envisioned! It is centrally located in the heart of Arles. This kitchen is, by far, the largest kitchen we’ve seen in Europe. The kitchen is large enough, and equipped, to cook a meal from all the goodies we bought at the Saturday Farmers’ Market (make sure you go). There is a large living room and each bedroom has its own bathroom. Owners are very friendly and accommodating.

Perfect Spot

  • 5 of 5

We could not have chosen a better place to rent- the house was totally charming, old stone walls with good amenities. The location is perfect - in the center of Arles, close to the sights, ( i.e the Roman amphitheater was only 150m away), but on a quiet street, easy parking just nearby. Patrick and Manga provided great customer service.

Arles is a wonderful town to explore and savor its delights and a great center to travel to lots of sights in the region such as the Camargue, Les Beaux, Nimes, Pont Du Gard, Avignon and even Aix-en-Provence is an easy day trip with the autoroute.

The local markets were brilliant with wonderful local produce. We really enjoyed the Summer Solstice music festival with a great variety of music styles throughout the day and evening at multiple locations.

Definitely recommend this house to anyone. We would go back again in a heartbeat.

The house is located in the historic centre of Arles inside the rampart, in the calmest and the most sought after district of the town, La Hauture.

It is located less than 100 m from the arena (amphitheatre), the antique theatre, the Church of La Major (church of herdsmen of the Camargue), the public park, the famous market of Arles and at the doors of Saint-Césaire abbey.

In the area, 30 m away, there is the Rue de la Porte de Laure where you will find many quality restaurants, karaoke bars, bar and tobacconist’s, crêperie, gallery, etc.

Nearby, other sites are accessible by foot, such as the Alyscamps necropolis, the SNCF (French National Railway Corporation) workshops, the Fondation Van Gogh, the Place de la République and du Forum, the cloister, the Church of Saint-Trophime, the thermal baths of Constantin, the surroundings of the Rhône, etc.
