About Derek Mattimoe

I am a retired Chartered Engineer, I grew up in Bishop Auckland in County Durham and later moved to Durham City in the North East of England where I've lived for the last 21 years. I enjoy hill walking, cycling and playing golf in my spare time.

Derek Mattimoe purchased this villa in 2006

Why Derek Mattimoe chose Coral Bay Area

I bought Villa Corelia in August 2006 because I liked the laid back lifestyle of Cyprus, driving on the same side of the road and having British 3 pin plugs is an added bonus, the empty roads in the countryside takes me back when driving was a pleasure.

There aren't many Villas with a covered veranda, a very welcome spot in the midday sun. The elevated poolside ensures privacy in this quiet and relaxing location.

What makes this villa unique

The villa is in a rural village within walking distance of shops and restaurants but far enough away for quiet relaxing living.

The front of the property is south facing and has views of the mediterranean sea to the front and views of the mountains to the side. The sunsets are fantastic to watch from the balcony.

Brilliant Villa and Fantastic Facilities

  • 5 of 5

We arrived in the evening and were overjoyed at the standard of the Villa - even in the dark it looked great. It had all the security/cleanliness/mod cons you would expect at home (UK). Waiting for a negative throughout our 10 day stay as you would expect on a vacation...did not find anything. In fact it surpassed our expectations. Derek was more than informative when contacted and when reassurance was needed.

All in all, our emigration research trip was made that more pleasant with the stay in the beautiful villa in Peyia.

Would highly recommend as a base for getting access to the scenic places on the Island as well as just staying in the Town enjoying the sun on the terrace which faces West and gets the sun ALL day.

Thanks Derek

Great location, clean and tidy.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Villa for 3 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The place was clean , tidy and well kept in very good surrounding area. From the pool area you could view the sea, which was around 30 minute walk and a 5 minute car ride. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from both locally and at nearby Coral Bay.

You have a variety of options to choose from, either visit the scenic areas along the coast line and if you fancy the day out go to the Trudos Mountains or just laze around the pool.

My wife and l enjoyed the relaxing time we had in Peyia and would certainly return again in the future.

A good holiday in a nice villa.

  • 4 of 5

With clear simple directions we found the villa easily. It is well equipped and was accurately repressented in the villa description and photos. We only had one issue and that was that the internet went down after a storm. This was rectified in quick order after a text to the owner. Peyia itself is good for Restaurants, for example Grande and Neo, without the noise of Coral Bay. Eating in is also OK as there is a good supermarket just outside Coral Bay. In common with other Villas, the pool is rather cold at this time of year but the sea is fine. I would recommend this villa however we did feel that the beds could have been a little more comfortable.

Excellent Villa very good location

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late at night due to flight delays so it was good to find the groceries we had ordered waiting for us.The facilities in the villa are very good, everything as described, plenty of cutlery, crockery, even books and games. Inside is spacious, all of the bedrooms are a good size with loads of storage space. The balcony area is large with table, chairs and parasol, good view of coral bay.Everything was clean and tidy with lots of spare bed linen and towels.

Outside was clean with enough sunbeds. The pool is a great place to cool down. There is a covered area on the drive for a car, great to get in a cool car.Reno is a great guy, made sure we were ok and lent us a bbq.It is only a 10 minute drive to coral bay, lots to do there with all types of restaurants. We would definately use rent this villa again.

A super time in Cyprus

  • 5 of 5

We thought the villa was excellent. It was so nice to find that it was so well equipped. So many times with holiday rentals you find that the cooking utensils and crockery are rather minimal - not a problem at Villa Corelia.

The only thing which we missed was a coffee maker or jug, we mentioned it to Reno one day when he called and the next day he came back with a coffee jug which he had borrowed from somebody - what great service and a really nice guy.

There are plenty of restaurants within easy reach. One which we particularly enjoyed was Paliomonastiro (at the Municipal Park) between Peyia and Coral Bay. Also Bacchus which on the waterfront at the port in Paphos. For a really cheap meal we found the restaurant next to the Philippos supermarket in Coral Bay was very good.

I would have no reservations about staying at the Villa Corelia again if we return to Cyprus.

Thanks to Derek and Reno for making our holiday successful.

Owner's Response: Thank you Kevin for your kind comments on your stay at Villa Corelia as well as your restaurant recommendations (somewhere new to try!) I'll let Reno know, he gets a real buzz looking after the place and the guests if they need anything. If you visit Cyprus again just drop me an email or give me a call, you're welcome to stay anytime. Kind regards, Derek Mattimoe

Peyia is a very popular and charming village situated on a gently sloping hillside overlooking Coral Bay. It is very traditional in look and feel with little winding streets and traditional stone houses with an old village church and shops at the centre.

Peyia offers visitors a good selection of amenities including banks, medical centre, supermarkets, a fruit & veg supermarket and bakeries. It also offers a good selection of traditional tavernas where you can try the local fish or meat meze, or you can try the local restaurants which offer Cypriot and international food throughout the week. Try the Grande Taverna with it's walled courtyard or walk down to Neo's Sport Club where you can play outdoor bowls or snooker in the air conditioned snooker room. They have cabaret three nights a week and good food in their bar and restaurant.

The village is very popular for Weddings so is ideal for wedding guests to enjoy a relaxed holiday.

Golf: There are three golf courses within 30 minutes drive of the Villa and one Pitch & Put Course 10 minutes away.

Ski: The skiing resort is located in the Troudos mountains which is within 1 hours drive of the villa. why not ski in the morning and go for a swim in the afternoon? One of the few places in the world you can do this.
