Our family (from Saskatoon, Calgary and Medford, Oregon) needed a place close to Calgary where we could spend a few days together. Drumheller and Canmore were possibilities, but we couldn't find anything suitable in Drumheller. We found Mistaya Condo on the internet and it looked as if it would suit our desire that we could all stay in the same place rather than in separate hotel rooms.
We were more than pleased with the condo. It is clean, well-equipped, and there are more than enough comfortable beds for 3 families (3 couples, 2 teens and 2 younger girls). The view toward the mountains was great, and the location was convenient to just about anything we needed. Parking for 3 vehicles was a bit of a problem but we managed.
As another reviewer said, "What's not to like?" We highly recommend it for your vacation.
Stayed 5 nights at the Mistaya and didn't want to go home! The longer we stayed, the more it felt like home. Perfect location in Canmore. Everything is right outside your door. Unit was very clean and looked just like the pictures. Lindsay was very assessable and lovely to deal with. We brought our mini-labradoodle and he had the time of his life. 10 minute walk from your front door are the lovely trails along the river. 10 seconds from you front door are restaurants and pubs. Wonderful bonus is the parking available. We parked in the garage (our car never left the garage as everything is within walking distance) and our visitors could park on the pad right outside the garage door. Very handy as Canmore gets quite busy in the summer. We will be back without question.
This is the second time my family and I have enjoyed the Mistaya Condo. The Condo itself is spacious, clean, and very well appointed. It is perfectly located, a block off main on a quiet street.. We could sit out on the balcony and enjoy breathtaking scenery or be walking by a meandering mountain stream within 5 minutes. The Canmore restaurants are amazing and the weekly farmers market was as well. We found the managers of the condo very easy to work with. The time we have spent here helped to make incredible family memories. We will definitely be back next summer!!
We visited Edmonton for the Women's World Cup this summer, and took a side trip to Banff National Park. We are a family of four and the Mistaya condo was perfect for us. It was large - three bedrooms, a large family room/dining room area, and well-appointed kitchen. After staying in a series of hotel rooms, it was great to be able stretch our legs.
Canmore was very nice. It's smaller than Banff, but also less commercial and busy. The Mistaya Condo is right in the downtown area - with plenty of restaurants and shopping within just a few blocks away.
One day during our visit was near perfection. A hike in Johnson Canyon, followed by watching the US WNT beat Germany in the WWC semi-finals, and then a great grilled steak dinner at the condo. Cocktails on the deck were enjoyed in perfect 70F weather with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.
We'd highly recommend a stay here!! Lindsay was great to work with and made everything about the visit seamless.
Can't beat the location in the middle of town. Safeway was only about a 5 minute walk away and many restaurants and shopping within just a few blocks. The condo itself was very nice and quite roomy for our family of 5 including children ages 23, 21 & 16 to spread out easily and comfortably.
Although there is parking for one vehicle, the space is quite narrow and we had to fold in the mirrors on our SUV to be able to enter!
My only real issue had to do with the deposit. When I had made my final payment before our arrival, Lindsay asked when I'd be sending the deposit of $350CAD. When I told her that the deposit WAS included with my final requested payment, she said she'd check and get back to me. The following day she confirmed that it HAD been paid and apologized. Funny that she wouldn't know that the deposit was included when she was the one who provided the final figure for me to pay.
The other issue was with the return of my deposit. We were careful to leave the place in excellent shape and followed all the directions that were provided. After four weeks of hearing nothing, I finally emailed Lindsay to ask about the status of returning my deposit. Once again she said she'd look into it and get back to me. In a couple of hours she once again apologized and said that it should have been fully refunded and would do so now. I did receive the full refund via PayPal, but don't think I should have needed to prompt her to do this. I will give her the benefit of the doubt and presume it was two innocent oversights, but my advice to anyone else renting this unit would be to keep a close eye on tracking the payment and return of your security deposit.
I can't say enough about our stay at Mistaya Lodge! Our ladies ringette team was looking for a "year end" venue and as we all live in Calgary, we thought maybe traveling an hour or so into Canmore may be a perfect place. I went on VRBO, and found Just that! I looked for accommodations for up to 10 people, and came across the Mistaya Luxury Condo! Emails started with Lindsay, and right then, I knew I had come across a great find. She was very helpful, and answered all my questions right away. Every detail was taken care of, and we were not disappointed! The photos online were beautiful, and from the moment we opened the door, we knew we were going to love it! It was
spotless, and spacious, and was the perfect place for the 9 of us. Because it is situated downtown, absolutely everything was a walk away. Although we did go on some hikes around the Canmore area, we took advantage of the local pathways, as they were easily accessible from the condo. We highly
recommend this condo, and we're hoping to rebook next year!!
We travelled with my in-laws and the Mistaya was perfect for our accommodation needs. The condo is very spacious, but warm and cozy. The location is perfect to explore downtown Canmore and its charming shops and cafes. Safeway and Sobeys (now called something else) are just couple of blocks away for your groceries' needs.
The amenities are superb, including satellite TV, a Wii (if you have children), and its own garage (perfect for those who hire a car).
However, the most important feature of our rental experience was the excellent communication with Lindsay, the property owner. She was prompt and very efficient at answering our inquires and concerns throughout the entire process before our arrival. Her personal service and assistance was outstanding, making our vacation very memorable and worry-free.
This is our new lodging place whenever we come back to the Bow Valley. Thank you kindly, Lindsay!
Located one-hour West of Calgary and only 5 minutes from the Banff National Park, Canmore lies nestled along the banks of the Bow River in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Chosen as the site of the Nordic Ski Events (Canmore Nordic Center) for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, Canmore was soon attracting international attention as a major tourist destination. Sunshine, Norquay and Lake Louise are within easy distance of Canmore and offer the full range of winter sports while Lake Louise is the host of the this years Ski World Cup.
When the snow goes away its time to break out the rafts, canoes, mountain bikes and boots and hit the rivers and mountains in the area. If that's not your thing don't forget the numerous golf courses, leisure walks and spa's that surround this town, it truly has something for everybody. Not forgetting the world famous Calgary Stampede only an hour away, the chance to sample this celebration of Cowboy life is not to be missed.
