The rest of the garden comprises an olive grove, ancient well (covered and gated), and raised beds separated by river gravel. There are views to open country to the west, and over vineyards to the north. The property is fully fenced with gates that can be closed to allow small children to run around freely, although our lane is not a through road and so has very little traffic. About Liz Aram

Mas des Costes is our haven in France where we can really escape from everyday life. We like nothing better than having friends over for lunch in the garden, and then spend the afternoon lazing by the pool.

Mas des Costes - second visit.

  • 5 of 5

This is an outstanding property to stay in , in a beautiful and unspoilt area of France. There is everything you could possibly require provided for you and even some things that you wouldn't have thought of yourself.

The pool is large and well maintained and has all the safety features for children. We have visited twice now and it is a great base for exploring Nimes, Avignon and Arles as well as many other locations like the Pont du Gard.

I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Characterful Cevenol Farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for 3 weeks (partly with children and grandchildren, partly just the two of us). It is an attractive farmhouse with plenty of space for 8 people. Helpful floorplan meant that we knew exactly what we were renting. Well equipped, great swimming pool with steps and deep enough for diving. Although very tastefully decorated, was not "precious" and so didn't feel we needed to worry too much that children would cause damage (which they didn't!). Good communication from owners, and useful book of suggestions in the house. Despite 35degree temperatures, house stayed cool inside. We particularly loved the shady seating area outside with sofas and beanbags. Less than 10 minutes drive from attractive market town of Anduze (although no commerces within walking distance). Plenty of restaurants/markets/river-swimming/canoeing/caves all within 20 minutes or so. Would definitely recommend and would be happy to come back.

Large homely accomodation. Hard to fault

  • 5 of 5

Property was bigger than expected with a great pool. Really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. Highlights to area were river swimming in nearby Anduze and the young Algerian/French worker in the Fritterie in Lebzen who chased after us to give us a bottle of wine when we left him a big tip.

Zweiter Besuch und wieder wunderschön!

  • 5 of 5

Unbedingt empfehlenswert!

Totally fantastic

  • 5 of 5

I have spend many years traveling in France for vacation and work, seen it all I thought, until I found Malcolms lovely house situated at an area in France that I felt in love with.

The house is big and well decorated and very fresh with all facilities! You have to see it to believe it!

I will come back year after year and never look for anything else!

With best regards

Outstanding - we had a great time!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at Mas de Costas and wish it could have been for longer. We had a very relaxing time - there was plenty of space and everything a family would need both inside and outside - very well equipped and well presented. The large pool and surround were brilliant - allowing us to cool down, sunbathe and exercise at our leisure. The surrounding area is lovely. Anduze the nearest town has some intersting corners and the local countryside is idyllic - great for walking or just admiring. We really look forward to our return!

Mas des Costes is within one hour's drive of Nimes, Montpellier and the Mediterranean beaches in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of the south of France. Its character is very much that of Provence.

Our local market town is Anduze, and the house is situated outside the town in the quiet rural community of Tornac. The Cevennes and Ardeche regions are close by, and we are within easy reach of historic towns such as Avignon, Nîmes, Arles, and Uzes. They are important centres for arts festivals and concerts throughout the summer months, possess splendid galleries, museums, and restaurants, and have some of the best preserved Roman buildings remaining anywhere, including the world-famous Pont du Gard.

Anduze is the point where the foothills of the Cevennes meet the Languedoc plain. It is, therefore, the ideal base for walking in the magnificent Cevennes National Park using the numerous way marked trails where you can walk for miles without seeing another hiker. Alternatively, it is possible to explore this wild region by car or bike along the Corniche des Cevennes, visiting pretty mountain villages such as Florac, or the dramatic Gorges du Tarn. Robert Louis Stevenson travelled here and wrote about this region in ‘Travels with a Donkey’. (It is possible to retrace Stevenson’s steps, using donkeys to carry your luggage). The Cevennes has been designated a site of world environmental importance by UNESCO.

The Mediterranean coast is within one hour’s drive. The nearest resort is Le Grau du Roi which has long sandy beaches, and a lively fishing port with excellent fish restaurants overlooking the water.
