If you are here on business, there is an Express bus to downtown right outside my front door. If you are visiting as a tourist and wish to experience the real San Francisco, then my apartment is the logical place, do not get ripped off in the high priced tourist restaurants, eat where the locals eat, there are many Ethnic restaurants within a few blocks, have a beer at some of the best neighborhood bars in the city. If you really want to be a tourist, take a walk to the Cliff House for dinner.

I own the building, it has 2 apartments and a retail store, the other apartment is occupied by a retired school teacher, Vladimir and his wife, they both take care of my apartment for me, so just knock on their door if you should need anything during your stay.

The neighborhood: Richmond/SeaCliff

The Richmond/Seacliff neighborhood has world-class recreation, You are within walking distance of 3 fantastic beaches, Ocean beach, China beach or Baker beach.

Golden Gate Park is only 5 blocks from the apartment. You also have a municipal golf course, Lincoln Park Golf , it is a short 6 blocks from the apartment.

The Richmond retains a neighborhood feel along its main shopping streets.

You can find Mexican, Russian, French and Italian restaurants with ease, not to mention a plethora of establishments serving food from every corner of Asia. 'Like the Outer Richmond itself, Geary calms down considerably after 25th Avenue as it meanders off into the fog and ultimately ends at the Pacific Ocean.'

Sea Cliff is dominated by Spanish architecture homes perched on the cliffs east of Golden Gate Bridge. Certainly one of the most desirable and picturesque residential areas in the U.S. Success exudes itself from any of houses, stars and theatrical types such as Robin Williams, Sharon Stone, and Carol Hayes of Hayes Productions all have homes here. The Presidio Trust sits to its east with remains of the Land's End Park and the famous Sutro Baths of 1896 to the west. The California Palace of the Legion of Honor museum built in 1924 ( inspired by the Palais de la Legion in Paris), home of Rodin's 'The Thinker', and the public golf course of Lincoln Park all share the Sea Cliff address!'

Lincoln Park: Most people know Lincoln Park for two things: The Palace of the Legion of Honor and the golf course. Fewer know about the park's easy access to Land's End and a portion of the Coastal Trail that runs about six miles along the bluff above the sea, from Baker Beach to Ocean Beach. Walkers along this path will be treated with incredible views.

Golden Gate Park:

The California Academy of Sciences Its fantastic, you have to go.

You simply must rent a boat in Stow Lake or explore the park by bike. Stow Lake Bike & Boat Rentals, 50 Stow Lake Dr.

M.H. de Young Museum.

You have all this right outside your front door and are only 15 minutes to downtown Union Square.

Muni Bus system:

If you intend to ride the cable cars, then it is cheaper to buy a bus pass, the fare on the 38 bus downtown is $2.25 and the cable cars are $6 so its better value to get a bus pass. The passes are for consecutive days.

Passports may be purchased on the Muni website or at the Airport, SFO Information Booth (Baggage Claim area)

For more information on Muni Passports, see Muni's website.

• 1-day Passport $17

• 3-day Passport $26

• 7-day Passport $35

The cheapest way to get to the apartment from SFO is a door to door Super Shuttle, it costs $19 per person one way, if there are 3 or more people then a Taxi is cheaper, about $45. You do not really need a rental car, except if you wish to see the Wine Country, I would suggest that you rent a car the last 2 days of your vacation, there is a Hertz location a few blocks away, pick the car up at the local Hertz and drop it back to the Airport, that way you save on a shuttle to the airport.

ZIPCARS: you can rent Zip cars by the hour or by the day,

There is a ZIPCAR location one block from the apt,

Please go to ZIPCAR Website for more information.

PLEASE EMAIL ME FOR AVAILABLE DATES, I ANSWER ALL EMAILS THE SAME DAY.

***EXTRA, EXTRA, I now have a second location, A one bedroom apartment in Twin Peaks, with parking and laundry, sleeps up to 4.

About Paul Downey

I used to own a travel agency for 15 years and like to think I know what tourists want in a vacation apartment.

Paul Downey purchased this apartment in 2000

Why Paul Downey chose San Francisco

I bought the building in 2000 and totally renovated the owners unit apartment, I lived in this apartment for 3 years, then bought another Apartment building in Twin Peaks, where I now live.

I decided to rent this apartment to tourists and its been a huge success. Lots of guests have said it feels like your are staying in a friends apartment and not a sterile vacation place, I thinks its because I furnished and decorated it as my home, so when I moved out I left everything as is. I loved living here!

What makes this apartment unique

Live like a local in a very family friendly neighborhood,

Everything is right outside the front door.

Previous guests have commented on how great the neighborhood is. There are all types of cafes, bars and restaurants from a Michelin star (Aziza) to Mom & Pop places all within a few blocks.

You really do not need a car, but if you need one for a few hours or a day, there is a ZIP car location just one block away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Paul,

I just tried to post a comment on the VRBO site, and it will not allow me as I posted a comment on my last visit in 2007.

Here is what I was going to post:

We stayed here in Dec 2007 and had a totally wonderful time; we loved San Francisco so much that we could not wait to return. The apt has been painted and spruced up since our last visit, it was great back then and it’s even better now.

We love the neighborhood; it’s great to be able to walk to so many restaurants.

Our favorite restaurants were Chapeau (French), Aziza (Moroccan) and Pacifica Café (Seafood).

You do not need to rent a car, as the bus service is terrific, make sure you purchase a bus pass at the airport when you arrive.

I would suggest doing the land’s end walk, its finishes right at the Cliff House.

Overall another great vacation in San Francisco.

A great apartment for a visit to San Francisco

  • 5 of 5

Staying at this property during our visit to San Francisco really enhanced our holiday. We are a family of 4 and had plenty of space to relax. Paul was really helpful at all times and provided lots of information to help us make the most of our visit. The apartment is very conveniently located, perfectly clean and very well equipped. We would highly recommend this property to any other travellers.

Best landlord ever

  • 4 of 5

Paul is the most helpful, trustworthy owner we've ever met. And we're talking the world over! He goes way beyond by helping you in all your needs. Geary Blvd. has a bit of traffic noise, but the flip side of this is that you'll be in the best possible place for easy, reliable transportation. The Geary rapid bus comes by every 10 minutes at peak hours and there's a ton of buses on many of its intersections. The whole city will be available to you from Paul's apartment.

The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you'll need. You'll get 2 tvs and big cable offerings. Netflix and printer are great pluses. There's a nice queen size bed with a new mattress cover and a new couch in the living room. We spent three or four months in this apartment and we think you'll enjoy it.

Convenient and Affordable

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed the stay here overall. This place is situated in a great location to visit just about any main attraction in San Francisco either by the Muni bus or on foot. Check -in/-out was easy and the apartment was nice. The place was tidy but found the toilet seat dirty so I had to clean it. The information packet was extremely helpful and was much appreciated. In all, I would stay here again if I found myself visiting SF again.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for a great stay in SF! Our first VRBO experience was a success-- we loved the neighborhood with its many ethnically diverse restaurants. The Muni was easy to access and the neighborhood was safe at night. The apartment was comfortable and clean. We all slept well and parking wasn't difficult as long as u parked up by the schools and read the signs. We would definitely stay here again!

We felt like real San Franciscans! Thank you!
