|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Important for summer guests: There's usually a breeze that has the added bonus of keeping the bugs away! A huge bonus if you want to be able to enjoy the outdoors.
Come to where you can relax enough to feel your heart beat. This is one of the most unique properties in the Copper Country and no other vacation rental in the area offers as much. There's almost 40 acres to explore with hundreds of feet of frontage around a small bay on a dead-end road only eight miles from town. It's private enough to sit outside on the lanai in your pajamas and enjoy your morning coffee. In the evenings, watch the stars while sitting around a stone ringed fire pit. You'll be able to see wildlife while fishing, birdwatching, lounging or just walking on this beautiful piece of property. Fish out front in the bay or off of the point where there are Northern Pike, Bass and Perch. Walleye and Lake Trout are just a short distance away. There's also a pond on the property. A 12' rowboat, 4 person pedal boat and 1 and 2 person sit-on-top kayaks are included for guests to use.
Newly constructed (2006) guest suite has easy level access with no stairs. The place stays naturally cool in summer and has ceramic tile floors with in-floor heat for those chilly days. The rooms are very comfortable and the view from each room looks out over the field onto unspoiled waterfront. For less than the price of two hotel rooms, you'll get a lot more room and privacy. You can make yourself at home, prepare your own meals and visit in the family room or have some peace and quiet in a bedroom.....ideal for extended families or friends traveling together.
The place is fully furnished with linens, dishes and utensils and also has a charcoal BBQ, wireless internet, satellite TV and a library of books and some DVD's. There are clock radio alarms and night lights in each bedroom. There is a high chair, a booster seat, pack-n-play, sippy cups and a toddler swing for small children. The bathroom has a hair dryer and an adjustable height shower chair for those with limited mobility.
You'll want to have your camera around if you are a birdwatcher. Eagles perch in the tree next to the house on a regular basis. There has been several unusual sightings of birds on the property such as a Dicksissel (first sighting in this area in almost 20 years), Cattle Egret, Pelicans, Swans, Yellow Headed Blackbird and Harris' Sparrow. Many bird species are 'regulars' including Sandhill Cranes, Eagles, Great Horned Owls, Blue Herons, Green Herons, Rose Breasted Grosbeaks, Pine Grosbeaks, Evening Grosbeaks, Bobolinks, Bluebirds, Indigo Buntings, barn swallows, many ducks etc., etc., etc. If you are patient and quiet enough, you may even get a Hummingbird to land on your finger at one the feeders.
In winter, there are several top notch cross country ski trails in the area and snowmobilers have hundreds of miles of trails to explore. In any season, it's fun to just take a drive and enjoy the scenic beauty and rich history of the Keweenaw Peninsula. The UP was listed as #10 in the list of 'top 10 summer destinations in the world' at the shermanstravel web site and the article was displayed in the MSN travel section.
Some quotes from my guest book:
FEB 2016: Your place is perfect - very comfortable, well equipped, extremely clean, very nice views - a treasure here in Houghton...... Bayshore provided the perfect getaway spot to enjoy the comforts of home away from home, and we found it's location, privacy warmth to be just what we needed. So, SO much nicer and more restful and comfortable than a hotel. I hope we will be back in the early summer to see more of the area's beauty.
APRIL 2015: You have a wonderful place here. So quiet and peaceful, just perfect to unwind after a day of work. You and Moo Shoo are great hostesses. So glad we found you on the net.
FEBRUARY 2015: Extreme skiing/quilting combination weekend! Everyone had a good time ion their own way. Sure wish we would have known about this place when our son was at Tech! Hope to be back in the summer. Beautiful spot and comfortable accommodations.
AUGUST 2014: We really enjoyed your place! You have a beautiful property. We loved the view, fishing on the pond, kayaking, exploring, having a bonfire, visits from Moo Shoo, .... and there was plenty more to do but not enough time! Hope to be back in the near future! Thanks Pat!
AUGUST 2014: We appreciate you sharing your lovely place with us. Accomodations comfortable. We really enjoyed the fishing. It is nice that you provide rowboat, kayak, etc. Moo Shoo is adorable! Thanks for your wonderful hospitality. We would love to come back. Beautiful property.
JULY 2014: Had a wonderful stay. Enjoyed fishing in the pond...caught a few trout and bluegill. Loved the peaceful serenity Bayshore had to offer.
FEBRUARY 2014: We found you quite by accident when we couldn't secure a traditional hotel room. We are thrilled! The views are beautiful! The accommodations were perfect and very comfortable & welcoming. Pat - thank you for your hospitality.

I've been accommodating travelers since 1993. I try to do my best to provide an environment that helps my guests relax and feel at home during their stay.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2006
This is a very unique piece of property..... almost 40 acres on the lake AND a stocked trout pond. It's only 8 miles from town, but it feels like a remote get-a-away. No noisy streets or bright city lights.... You can really SEE the stars at night.
The beauty, peace and quiet that you can find here are difficult to find in today's world. This is truly a family spot that kids love to explore and is easy for grandparents to get around. Guests have three boats to take out onto the bay to explore and fish. Don't forget your camera to snap photos of the deer passing through, the Sandhill Cranes that usually come into the bay to spend the night and Eagles that perch in a tree right next to the house.
We loved our week-long stay at Bayshore last summer. The condo is very spacious with three good size bedrooms, which was more than enough for my family of three. Good for families with kids because there are lots of beds. Everything was clean and worked well--esp. the Internet.
The view of the portage lake is lovely. Every morning we walked out to take a look. The location is excellent. It's a short drive to Houghton and well-situated for exploring the rest of the peninsula. We had a fun and relaxing vacation. Highly recommend!
Arrival date is not correct wouldn't let me go back to far, I am late to write this , we stayed here about 2 1/2 years ago when we moved my son up to Tech for his first year in College, and what a wonderful place to be, There were 8 of us all together and we had a great time, we played on the water with the paddle boat and kayak and just had a blast, Mornings out on the porch were so peaceful seen the eagle each morning up in the tree what a sight, There is Plenty of room here for a family and so much to do, the accommodations were very well met, pots and pans, linens everything you could think of, Comfortable beds for sleeping, we saved a lot by cooking our meals rather then going out to eat every meal having that home feeling made all that possible. We are excited to come back and stay in the winter this time so we can enjoy winter activities and views in Houghton. Pat your place is beautiful and we were so glad to be able to enjoy it. Highly recommend staying here if you are looking for the R & R in your visit, Not far from town and stores very convenient location
