We absolutely loved this property and can't wait to return. The owners are wonderful, friendly, helpful, and pay attention to the details. It is apparent they take pride in their place. I would highly recommend this property and location. This location in North Carolina can be visited year round and there is so much to see and do that would appeal to many interests. Our one week was not enough time but a start to what we hope will be a place we can return to in the future. Thank you for an unforgettable vacation.

Exceeded all expectations!

  • 5 of 5

What a great month @ Granddaughter Mountain. The pictures of the condo speak for themselves, what we didn't expect were the beautiful sunsets, the humming bird shows and such a great host. Annie could not have been more gracious and accommodating. The biggest compliment I can give is we've already booked for next year.

The Perfect Escape!

  • 5 of 5

Granddaughter Mountain was the perfect escape from the hectic daily hustle and bustle. The owner was so accommodating and made our last minute, unplanned trip happen, even though it was an inconvenience to her.

We were staying at another location that ended up being a nightmare. We stayed one night and new immediately the next morning that we had to find somewhere else to stay. We were only on the first night of our long-awaited vacation and we did not want to have to pack everything up and go back home, so we searched and found this gem. Because the reservation was so last minute, we could not book online, so I emailed the owner. She responded immediately. She had not planned to have the place ready for renters until four days later, but when we explained our situation, she made it work so that we could move our vacation to Granddaughter Mountain that day.

After the experience at the previous rental, walking into this condo was incredible. The place was immaculate, beautifully decorated, and welcoming. And the view from the living room onto the porch and the mountains in the distance was breathtaking.

The weather was not great during our stay, but we didn't care. We enjoyed sitting on the comfortable sofas wrapped in the warm blankets and enjoying the warmth of the gas logs as we looked out the window onto the view of the mountain in the distance. The condo was the most well-stocked place that we have ever stayed. We were able to stay in and cook all of our meals and not even have to leave. Everything in the kitchen was labeled for easy access and there were nice touches of convenience like an excellent assortment of supplies (tupperware, a crockpot, a variety of utensils, etc.) that made cooking a pleasure.

I truly cannot think of anything negative to say about this wonderful little slice of heaven. It was quiet, peaceful, and exactly what we were looking for. And I cannot say enough about how accommodating and kind the owner was. She saved our vacation by going out of her way to make it work for us to stay at Granddaughter Mountain. I cannot wait for another opportunity to visit again.

The view truly unforgettable; the unit had several issues needing attention.

  • 3 of 5

Enjoyed hikes @ Grandfathers Mountain & Linville Falls the best. Favorite restaurant was The Painted Fish.

THE best stop of the trip was on the way out of town at Grandfathers Mountain Vineyard; that place was awesome.

Owner provided good customer service, would reccommend this unit to friends and family.

Owner's Response: We were perplexed by this review's relatively low rating and reference to "issues needing attention" as the renter did not inform us of any issues during his stay. We pride ourselves in offering a high-quality condo and responding quickly and effectively to any problems that arise, which is how we've earned 62 "5-star and 2 "4-star" reviews until this one. After seeing this review, we emailed the renter. He replied saying the issues were, with the exception of one leaky shower head, "mostly cosmetic" (e.g., the outdoor table needed cleaning, a light bulb was burned out, and the windows weren't cleaned to his standards). He stated that he owns a professional property management and cleaning business and so his standards are very high -- and apparently much higher than the numerous other renters who have commented on how clean the unit is. The ultimate test is whether a renter would return, and in this renter's eyes we seemed to pass with flying colors: As he mentioned in his review, he "would recommend this unit to friends and family"; in his follow-up response to us he closed with the following statement: "Please don't take this wrong, this is just a professional opinion. You have a VERY nice unit and we would like to rent from you again;" and in our guest book, he wrote only positive comments including "Thanks for sharing the beauty of your condo. We'd love to come back".

Absolutely the most beautiful view

  • 4 of 5

With a porch to die for overlooking the breath-taking view of the mountains without a rooftop in sight, no one could possibly be disappointed with Granddaughter Mountain. The owner has outdone herself in the appointment and care of this two bedroom facility. Although it is a condo and not a cabin, we all lost ourselves in the feeling of being in an exceptional cabin in the middle of the wilderness. We recommend it to all. The nearby Moses Cone Manor also offers access to easy hiking trails, in addition to a tour and gift shop in the manor. Banner Elk offers convenient shopping. No matter who you are, Go for it! The only reason we ranked the condo with a four instead of a five was the difficulty in housekeeping upon arrival, but the owner immediately took care of the problems. She is great to work with! Can't wait to go back.

Amazing views

We loved Granddaughter Mountain! You can't beat the views from the large covered balcony and the modern comfort this condo provides. Add to that the very reasonable rates and it ranks high on our list of favorites!! We will be back.
