About Jenipher Johnson
Friends invited us to join them in Matlacha in January of 2016. We immediately fell in love with this quiet fishing village and we were home owners by June.
Jenipher Johnson purchased this Apartment in 2016
Why Jenipher Johnson chose Matlacha
The historic district of Matlacha found its roots in the mid to late 1930's when squatters built little shacks along the Pine Island Bridge. Today those little and very colorful shacks stills stand keeping their Old Key West feel. There are very few tiny fishing villages left in Florida and we were lucky enough to find this. This property, "Toby's View," is a beautiful corner lot that can easily boast the best fishing in town. The small bridge that sits next to the lot provides the perfect place for a variety of fish to be found. Locals can often be seen fishing off the bridge or pulling up their boats or kayaks to catch snapper, jacks, snook, mullet, and so much more. Everything is in walking distance (ice cream, coffee, music, beer, and bait). My family are huge fans of Elvis Presley. Matlacha was the inspiration for Richard Powell's novel "Pioneer, Go Home!" This novel was later made into the movie, "Follow that Dream" starring Elvis as Toby Kwimper. Now you know the story behind the name "Toby's View."
What makes this Apartment unique
The unique thing about the tiny island of Matlacha is that it is Olde Key West and it won't change. The historic homes are colorful and endearing, the fishing is unbeatable, and the people are fast friends. When you sit in our back yard with a fishing pole in one hand and gazing at the stunning sunset, the rest of the world melts away.

Laid Back Matlacha
Sweet bungalow just a few steps from the heart of Matlacha and right on the water. Everything one needs for a vacation of total relaxation is here. The food served at the local restaurants is amazing!
We had a wonderful stay at Toby's view. We will miss the stunning views and the wildlife that came each day to visit. Having coffee with the dolphins each day was a new and wonderful experience! Jenipher was so welcoming and responsive to both texts and emails. We had a truly magical time there.
Thank you so much. It was a pleasure meeting you both!
Very nice! The accommodations were great and the views were amazing!
Jen was available for anything we needed. Thanks!
Great place to stay - highly recommend!
Live on "Island Time" in the quiet fishing village of Matlacha. You will be surrounded by incredible fishing, art galleries, shops and great food. Your stay begins by crossing over the Matlacha Pass on the "fishingest bridge in the U.S.A." Then pull into your driveway and make yourself at home by casting a line into the waters that surround your backyard. These waters are the ideal habitat for fish and this home is the ideal habitat for the anglers who catch them. There are boat/fishing charters as well and boat, kayak, and paddle-board rentals available. Kayakers (and bird-watchers) come here to paddle placid backwaters. You didn't come here to fish? That's okay. There is great food, drinks, and live music just a short walk away. You also have great shops and art galleries to enjoy. If golfing is your thing there are several great places to golf as well just 3-4 miles down the road. Relax and enjoy living on "Island Time."
