About Barbara Stein

I travelled a lot for many years working in business tourism. We search for long time a place in the Mediterranean Sea to build our familial vacation house where we can move when we will be retired. We fall in love with Aegina, and the villa building was a truly adventure! I am very happy to share it to you and to making you discover it.

Barbara Stein purchased this villa in 2010

Why Barbara Stein chose Greece

Because it is the Mediterranean Sea, it is Greece with its culture and its traditional art of living, and finally because it is beautiful and simple.

What makes this villa unique

Our fantastic villa on the beach, where we wish to receive our family and also to create unforgettable memories.

To sleep on the terrace, with the breeze and sounds of the sea and the cricket songs under the starry sky...

To savour the fragrant meals, the simplicity and the charms of spending time doing nothing of Greece...

Wonderful holiday May 28 2016

  • 5 of 5

We booked this villa 18 months ago as we had to be sure to get the dates for a special 75th birthday celebration with the family, a total of 11 people including 3 young grandchildren and a 6 month old baby. It was worth the wait. After a long days travel from London it was wonderful to be met at Aegina port by Gina and George with 3 hire cars lined on the quayside. Within a few minutes Gina was escorting us all out to the villa.

What to say? The villa is superb and absorbed us all easily. Sophia came in daily to do an hours light cleaning and Gina ensured that we wanted for nothing. The pool is regularly cleaned and spotlessly maintained. The folding glass wall panels meant the villa was delightfully cool inside whilst we enjoyed wall to wall sunshine and temperatures in the low thirties outside. Full use was made of the lovely swimming pool.

The location on Vagia beach is superb with views over the Saronic Gulf to Athens from the front and the hilltop Temple of Aphaia from the rear. There are excellent tavernas to right and left of the villa and the fine breakfast served at the Vagia Hotel, a 10 min. walk away, is not to be missed. On a couple of evenings we bought some fish at Aegina market and cooked back at the villa in the excellent open plan kitchen. We ate on the terrace with the twinkling lights of Athens across the gulf and a bottle of Greek wine on the table - bliss.

Lovely island, lovely villa, lovely people - we are already thinking how we may go again.

holiday june 2015

normally i dont write reports on sites, but it took me a long time to find this home, so i m willing to do an extra effort

from the first contact i felt comfortable with Barbara, planning was quick & flexible. we all have that moment: "what if this is a fake profile? is this to good to be true?" but i can guarantee you it is as it is on the pictures!

we had a fantastic week (4 couples (30-35y), no kids), the house could handle 2 extra kids (2 small bedrooms were used as dressings by the ladies now), although the wheather was not perfect it was an amazing week for all of us! very quit at night, so we all slept very well ! we needed the vitamin Sea!

the open windows, the seaview, the pool, the open kitchen, everything just breathes 'chill holidays' and this was the aim of this week. mission accomplished!

the island aegina is rather small, but all the restaurants we visited were very good (we are quite difficult when it comes to food, having also some people with food allergies), the atmosphere on the island (very low traffic, no traffic lights) , the people everything is just in relax modus !

Barbara arranged us 2 Suzuki Jeeps, they are not our usual Range Rover luxury, but they are so perfect to go offroad on the island & just drive around. you need at least one car, to go for food & such. Her local man in charge George comes by everyday, helps you with whatever you need.. the cleaing lady makes sure the kitchen & beds are done daily, so it s almost a hotel! all in perfect english!

in fact most of the people on the island speak perfect english, compared to spain/italy/portugal it s a luxury!

this house is build to be enjoyed!

Dream come true

  • 5 of 5

We planned and saved for this holiday for four years - to celebrate our sixtieth birthdays with friends and family. We were at Villa Aggelos for six weeks and our friends and family came in small groups for a week or more. While we were only full house for a couple of nights during that period, the house never felt crowded with lovely different corners to curl up with a book, get a tan next to the pool, catch up on news with our guests or take a stroll across the dirt track in front of the villa to the beach to swim or snorkel (beware of sea-urchins). It proved to be a wonderful base to renew and deepen relationships with those we do not regularly get to see. Dinner around the table next to the lit pool at night will be remembered by all who came. Even when it was very hot in Aegina Town, at the villa the sea breezes regulated the temperature and we were always comfortable.

Having George who manages the villa, to answer all our questions and organise a car rental for us took a lot of stress out keeping everyone happy. Sophia came in daily to clean, so it was easy to keep the house organised. At all times we felt well-cared for.

There are several important sites to see and places to visit: Aphia Temple, Paliachora - the hill with over 30 tiny Byzantine churches, the fish market in Aegina town to buy fish or take it to the cafe next door and have them prepare it. Endless views for photographers to capture - we took over 7000 photos most of which are magic.

Athens is just over the an hour and a half away for those driven to see the bright lights but most of our guests were so seduced by the loveliness of the villa and the beach and the walks around Vagia that they hardly managed to get to the sights on the island.

We regularly went up to Hotel Vagia for breakfast where the owner Maria and her sons welcomed us as though we were family and went out of their way to accommodate our various culinary needs. The tavernas next door at the beach served cold beer and snacks right on the beach and guests could use their beach recliners.

We are already trying to figure out when we can go back.

Wonderful family holiday at Villa Aggelos

  • 5 of 5

We were a family group of 8 who stayed at Villa Aggelos for a week in September and I could not recommend the villa more highly. From the get-go Barbara was very helpful and easy to deal with, which reassured us that we had made the right choice.

The pictures can't even make the villa justice; it is so perfectly located next to the local beach, with the pool area facing the sun all day. There are no other houses in front of the pool area which was great for privacy.

The dinner table outside is ideally located for breakfasts and sundowners, sheltered from the wind if it happens to be a windy day. All the descriptions regarding the main house and the three bungalows and their amenities was perfectly accurate and the house was clean and very well maintained. The friendly cleaning lady stopped by every day, the pool was maintained and the property manager was extremely friendly and helpful.

The town of Vaia is small but lovely, exactly what we needed for a relaxing holiday. The sandy beach is excellent for swimming, and the shallow waters are good for families with children. There is an excellent taverna on the beach and a few other good ones in the close vicinity. The distances on the island are short so it worked very well for us to have two rental cars with which we could visit other towns, beaches or go for dinner to Aegina Town.

I would highly recommend this luxurious property and Aegina to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday on a lovely Greek island.

Gorgeous villa, stunning location!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year renting this villa - so we knew what we were getting; stunning modern luxury villa in peaceful lovely setting. Not only is the villa immaculate, but it is also perfectly maintained. The location is peaceful and perfect for either a relaxing time or a house party by filling the pods in the garden which are fun and done well. The property can take 10 but remember the pods aren't en-suite; so you go to the (very nicely done) loo & luxury double shower on the back of one of the pods. 2mins walk takes you to a great (new owners) beach bar which is more restaurant than bar, and other restaurants are walking distance, with great choice in Aegina town for bars, traditional and modern restaurants. This is a villa for people with taste who like a little luxury, and the owner Barbara wants you to treat it like home from home. Will definitely return in the future.

House of the greek Gods

  • 5 of 5

We (my wive and I) saw these amazing pictures of this villa and thought, this can't be true this is fake.....but beeing able to have a holiday in such a villa won, so we made contact with Barbara to check if our periode was free! From the beginning it was a warm and super friendly contact, she directly sent us extra pictures, because she had just been there, and arranged a rentalcar to pick up directly at the harbor when we would arrive.

After our arrival at the airport in Athens we took the bus to Pireus and then a 'flying dolphin' to Aegina. There we took the car and went to the villa where George welcomed us with an ouzo and answered all questions we might have about the villa. We had the masterbedroom with an amazing view at Athens just at the night unreal! The sunrise wauww!

We can say this : The pictures are REAL ! It's an amazing villa build on the (looks almost private) beach! The pool is top and what was great it's not slippery and also great to relax at the matrasses! There are two restaurant/tavernes at walking distance (1 minute and the other one 5 minutes) for fresh and super lunch or diner. Each day the cleaning was done by Sofia so this really gives you the special feeling.

We went one day to Souvalla and took a boat to Pireus (about 40 minutes) to visit friends and to shop which is a great trip on an open boat at the deck.

A visit to the temple (5 minutes) is also recommended, or a trip to Aegina to eat directly delivered fish from the fisherboats. We even saw fishing boats arriving at the small harbour just outside our, ooops outside the rented villa with fresh fish....fantastic.

It's also nice to see that even while the whole world is worried about the financial situation of Greece that in this villa, in this surroundings you just feel like one of the Greek Gods!

We had holiday which started with 7 persons, there were people comming and leaving one day we had the full 10 at the villa but it's big enough so everybody can go it's own way (if wanted) or you can just enjoy a breakfast at the big table in front of the pool, or have a ouzo in the early ;-) afternoon in the front of the house and listen to the sea. We are now returned at home.....luckely we have around 2500 pictures to look at and to remember this fantastic holiday, because you know when you remember your holiday you have the same holiday twice !!

Thank you Barbara, George and Sofia for making our holiday unforgetable, we loved to come back once Xxxx

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Frank for such a lovely and poetical review. I am happy that Villa Aggelos has charmed you. It was a 5 years adventure to have it done that way, a great challenge to the local builders that have never done this kind of property before. We are very proud of it and are very touched when it is appreciated at its real value. Hope to see you soon! Barbara
