Le Grézier is located in Simeyrols in the 'golden triangle of the Perigord Noir and is an idyllic rural retreat, in close proximity to all the main activities and tourist attractions. The ancient medieval town of Sarlat has restaurants, shops, bars and a bustling market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. The village of Simeyrols is easily accessible from the main A20 motorway or by low-cost flight (Bergerac, Toulouse, Limoges) with car hire. Nearby Carlux (2km) is a picturesque village with a bakery, butchers, grocery store, post office and bar.
Golf: Golfers will enjoy Souillac Country club - 15 mins away from the property. 18 holes. Clubhouse and bar.
Domaine de Rochebois - 20 mins. 9-hole course in beautiful surroundings and clubhouse with bar
Walking: The area has a wealth of signposted and well-maintained walks through the beautiful countryside, including the GR6, a well-known rambling route. We have a number of maps available.
We purchased this property as a wreck in 2005 and have renovated it in keeping with local traditions, but with a modern touch. Having left the UK and moved to France permanently in 2007, we divide our time between property management, teaching French and generally enjoying this lovely area. We hope you do too.

We stayed at Le Grezier for the last two weeks in June and enjoyed fantastic weather. The property is very spacious, comfortable and very well equipped both inside and out. The pool is beautifully kept and a good size for our party of 7 plus a 1 year old. We all thoroughly enjoyed using it most days.
It is situated in a very convenient location to explore the area. There are so many beautiful places to visit, we particularly enjoyed canoeing on the river and visiting local chateaux. The local restaurants that we sampled were all exceptional.
Lynne and Darryl were great hosts, very welcoming and always on hand for advice, information or translation, but without being intrusive. We all enjoyed a fabulous holiday at Le Grezier and certainly plan to return.

We stayed at Le Grezier in August 2014 and can highly recommend it! Lynne and Darryl were lovely welcoming hosts, very helpful, knowledgeable about the area, and nothing was too much trouble. The location is wonderful, up on the hill with lovely views over the nearby hills and forests. A pleasant bike ride to the bakery in the morning, and you can burn some calories on the way back up!
The large and beautiful garden was much enjoyed by adults and children alike, and the pool very well maintained.
Nearby to Carlux is great for its excellent farm shop and restaurant, bakery, butchers (superb Carluxienne Sausages!) and handy general store; and Salignac for supermarkets and markets.
We had great fun on the cycle routes which are fantastic for kids to ride on, and easy to find a nice picnic spot by the river (or you can stop for duck and chips with Chez Francis!).

So, whether you lounge by the pool, relax in the garden, potter round the shops, or want to be more active and head out to the many attractions of the area, cycling/kayaking etc this is a great choice of somewhere to stay for children and adults alike.
We like to move around and try different places, but we may well be back if we come back to the area.
We had a fantastic stay at Le Grezier, the farmhouse is beautiful and well equipped. The grounds are stunning and wonderfully maintained with the lovely pool a huge bonus. The living accommodation is really well laid out and was perfect for a multi generational family stay.
The area is spectacular with stunning scenery, lots to do and very calm although the farmhouse was so lovely it was hard to leave some days.
Lynne and Darryl were fabulous hosts and we definitely hope to stay again. A thoroughly recommended property!
We had a truly great holiday. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and at home. The house is spacious and very comfortable and the pool and gardens delightful. It was very warm at times so the pool was blissful especially after a day wandering around the hillside villages. A must is a day canoeing on the river. The scenery at every turn is spectacular. We would recommend Le Grezier unreservedly. The property was the best we have stayed in and we have been to France many times: it was exactly as described. The house was very well equipped, tastefully furnished and decorated - with comfortable beds and excellent showers. There were 3 generations of our family and everyone loved it. The children, 2 & 4, really enjoyed the pool and grounds which gave them plenty of scope to play in safety while the adults liked relaxing in the lovely gardens after a swim.
We were warmly greeted by Lynn & Darell, the owners, who were delightful - helpful, knowledgeable and friendly while giving us our own space. We agreed with the comments of previous visitors who said that a week was not long enough to do justice to all that the area has to offer. There were attractions that pleased everyone and we had no difficulty in finding places to eat.
As we left our 4 year old asserted that she wanted to come back next year - an opinion we all shared!
We stayed here as a large adult family group and loved it. Lynne and Darryl were so friendly and helpful. The house was beautiful, clean and well equiped. The location is ideally placed for sightseeing and experiencing many varied activities. It is one of the best places we have ever stayed in over the many years we have been going to France.
It was an excellent start to our 2 week stay to find that the property we booked on-line was even better in reality; fresh, clean, airy & spacious. This was our third visit to the Dordogne area and definitely the best.
Although there are plenty of places to eat out we like to be able do our own thing in the evenings, so really appreciated the modern kitchen & facilities (family sized equipment & even a salad spinner!)
The best thing was the peace & quiet and having the space for us all (2 adults, Grandma and 2 'tweenagers'!) to spread out comfortably.
The pool was lovely and well looked after and there is plenty of space for garden games which are thoughtfully provided.
September is a good time to visit the area as most of the crowds have gone but there is still plenty of sunshine left! We enjoyed the markets at Sarlat & Les Eyzies where everyone was extremely friendly. The gardens at Eyrignac were charming & the caves at Font-de-Gaume (Les Eyzies) were well worth the effort of booking in advance to visit. The 1st restaurant (on the right) as you enter Les Eyzies does mouth-watering steaks with truffle sauce.
Lynne & Darryl were perfect hosts - extremely helpful & accommodating but not in the least intrusive.
We would certainly book again if we holiday in this area in the future.
The property is close to the fantastic medieval town of Sarlat with its cobbled streets, ancient buildings, restaurants, shops, bars. Other nearby beauty spots include Rocamadour, Beynac, Domme and many more. Within easy reach of the property are a variety of sporting and cultural activities. There are many signposted walks through the countryside, the GR6 for serious ramblers, canoeing on the River Dordogne (5 mins), horse riding (5 mins), golf at the Souillac Country Club (20 mins) - 18 holes, or the Domaine de Rochebois at Vitrac (20 mins) - 9 holes. The area also offers fishing, lake and riverside beaches, adventure and waterparks for children, gardens, castles, even hot-air ballooning for the more adventurous ! 4 bikes are available for use at the property for a small charge, with 35km of scenic cycle paths from Sarlat to Souillac.
Local markets sell delicious local produce, such as duck, foie gras, truffles, walnuts, chestnuts and, of course, excellent wines
